All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all cornmuni- ; cations relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOR OF THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 8. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 5. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in out issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 6. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences, and engravings of stolen property, will be inserted at a cost of 7s. per portrait and of 5s. per photograph or sketch of a stolen article, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the engraver's charge will range from 5s. to 10s. A remittance of 5s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the ease may be. L T I OAT U. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement, for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings tchich may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form; and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office. UNDER the existing arrangements the finger impressions will be taken, and recorded at the Finger Print Department, Convict Supervision Office, New Scotland Yard, of all persons convicted a* follows: — ( à) All persons coming within Section 5, 7, or 8 of the Prevention of Crimes Act, 1871. ( á) All persons, at Assizes or Quarter Sessions, sentenced to not less than one month's im- prisonment, without option of a fine, for any of the offences shown below. In order to avoiu the retention of useless records in the Finger Print Deoartment, the Registrar of Habitual Criminals would be glad if the Chief Constables of Counties, Cities, and Boroughs, will, in future, notify the death of any criminal uho has been finger- printed. LANCASHIRE. 23. - Leigh ( County).— For obtaining £ 25 by false pretences— JAMES CASHMORE, alia* BEKRY. age 35, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 in , com- plexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes blue; dreaB, dark serge reefer jacket suit, large panama hat, wears dog link pattern watch chain. A travelling horse dealer, is usually in possession of 3 or 4 horses, which he advertises for sale, on the sale of a horse he receives deposit and gives guarantee, the horse is generally returned, Cashmore then absconds with the deposit. Absconded 12th March last. Sentenced at Croydon Quarter Sessions, 1899, and Birmingham Assizes, 1900, to terms of imprisonment under the Bankruptcy Act. NOR THA MPTONSHIRE. 26.— Peterborough ( Liberty of).— For obtaining 5s. by false pretences, at Gunthorpe, 4th inst.— JAMES LEE, age 30 to 35, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 in., rather stout build, hair and moustache brown; dress, dark blue suit blue neckerchief with white spots, dark cap, blucher boots, of shabby appearance. He calls on persons, states he has brought a box from their relatives, and obtains money to pay the carriage of same from the rail- way station. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. SOMERSETSHIRE. 21— Frame ( Count)/).— For embezzling £ 2 4s. 8J.— ELEANOR ALLEN, age about 35, height 5 ft. 3 in., rather stout build, complexion fresh, hair brown, prominent teeth, wears gold rimmed glasses, slightly deaf, may seek emplovment at laundries. Was accompanied by her HUSBAND, age 40 to 45, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 in., hair and mous- tache dark ; 2 boys and 2 girls, ages from 4 to 14 years. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Rawlings, Frome. STAFFORDSHIRE. 2$. - Burslern ( County). — For obtaining tiles by falsn pretences — ERN'LST ALFRED BOURNE, age 37 or 38, height 5 ft. 8± in., stout build, complexion fresh, round face, hair ( bald in front and on crown) and moustache dark brown, eyes grey, of smart appearance; dress, dark suit, black bowler hat, lace boots. A traveller ; native of Stoke- on- Trent. Sentenced at the Guildhall, London, in October, 1902, to 4 months imprison- ment for felony. Warrant issued.
