All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communi- cations relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOK OF THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 8. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 5. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences, and engravings of stolen property, will be inserted at a cost of 7s. per portrait and of 5s. per photograph or sketch of a stolen article, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the engraver's charge will range from 5s. to 10s. .4 remittance of 5s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. A. T IO 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement, for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, eith er at the office, Sere Scotland Yard by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. UNDER the existing arrangements the finger impressions will be taken, and recorded at the Finger Print Department, Convict Supervision Office, New Scotland Yard, of all persons convicted as follows: — ( à) All persons coming within Section 5, 7, or 8 of the Prevention of Crimes Act, 1871. ( á) All persons, at Assizes or Quarter Sessions, sentenced to riot less than one month's im- prisonment, without option of a fine, for any of the offences shown below. A BEHOEENSHIRE. 13.— Aberdeen ( rowt.,).— For fraud at Dyce, 14th ult. — GEORGE WADSWORTH, age about 20, height about 5 ft. 7 in., hair reddish, clcan shaved, rather thick lips, palms of hands- red ; dress, brown tweed jacket suit with light stripes, bluish grey peak cap, small red tie, cycling shoes. He called on a clergyman at Dyce, repre- sented that his father was a builder at Ashton, near Wigan, and that he had been to Dundee in search of his aunt, where he was told that she had removed to Aberdeen, and at the latter place he was informed that she was now residing at Dyce. On being acquainted that his aunt was not known at Dyce, he stated he was short of cash, thereby obtained ill 3s. to pav his return railway fare. Is believed to be wanted at Carlisle and elsewhere. A licensed victualler. Has served in the Army, and for some years in South Africa, where he may endeavour to proceed, or be found at race meetings. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. HEREFORDSHIRE. 28.— Hereford ( County). — For stealing 9 cows and a calf, ISth ult., at Peterchurch — THOMAS HOLLAND, age about 33, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 in., square build, complexion pale, hair and moustache dark brown, eyes grey; dress, dark brown suit, white btraw hat. A cattle dealer ; native of Kingsley, Cheshire. Supposed well- known at markets in Shropshire and Cheshire. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Cope, Hereford. HER TFORDSHIRE. 29. — Hertford ( County).— For stealing a gold ring— FREDERICK KNIGHT, age 35 to 40, height 5 ft. 9 or 10 in., complexion dark, hair dark brown, clean shaved, eyes hazel, wore a white apron. He travels the country and hawks floor cloth from a four- wheeled van. Accompanied by another Man. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Foster, Hertford. KENT. W.— Ramsgatc ( Borough).— For stealing £ 3, 26th ult. - PATRICK MURPHY, alias WILLIAM MURPHY, an Irishman, age 17, height 5 ft. 2 or 3 in., square build, full face, one front upper tooth missing, small cut on left big toe, slightly lame; dress, black pilot jacket, velvet collar, blue guernsey, " J. W." or " W." thereon, grev trousers with dark stripe, blue can with yellow lining, low shoes. He came from Deal, 5th inst., and appeared to have been tramping the country, was then wearing khaki trousers, militarv shirt, No. 5679 E. K.; pants marked " W," socks marked " R. G. A." He obtained employment on a fishing smack, and absconded 26th inst. Stated he had been employed in a coal mine at Leeds, and expressed his intention of going to Sheerness or Holyhead with a view of returning to Ireland. Mav be found at harbours, barracks, & c.
