THE GAZETTE PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY. NEW SERIES. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 6, 1905. VOL. XXII., No. 2272. 1. All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communi- cations relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOR OF THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 8. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. I. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 6. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences, and engravings of stolen property, will be inserted at a cost of 7s. per portrait, and of 5s. per photograph or sketch of a stolen article, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the engraver's charge will range from 5s. to 10a. A remittance of 5s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. ATionrs. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement, for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13 Announcements concerning persons missing can only be accepted on pay- ment; and the charges for the insertion of the same will be given on application. MAY BE FOUND IN THE COMPANY OF ADOLPH SCHRODER, Office No. S 37630 ( see portrait), a German waiter, age 20, height 5 ft. 2i in, complexion fair, hair light brown, eyes blue, wart on 2nd right finger, who is said to be travelling the provinces. No photograph of Weichselbaum. The ARREST OF SCHRODER IS NOT SOUGHT. Information to be forwarded to the Metropolitan Police Office, New Scotland Yard, S. W. SPECIAL NOTICE. PRISONERS UNDER REMAND. The aid of the Metropolitan Police is frequently sought by other Police Forces to make inquiries respecting the antecedents of prisoners under re- mand, and such inquiries often result in identi- fying accused persons as being old offenders. But, in many cases, the time allowed for such inquiries is so brief that effect cannot be given to the request for information or that it can be com- plied with only in a perfunctory manner, and at great inconvenience. The Editor would therefore suggest, in the interest of the Provincial Police Forces, that four clear days, at least, should be allowed in cases of the kind, to complete the inquiries asked for. METROPOLITAN POLICE DISTRICT 2.— A Division.— For conepiracv and fraud— HARRY McALLISTER, age 30, " height 5 ft. 7 or 8 in, complexion sallow, hair dark, eyes hazel, high cheek bones, wrinkles in forehead when talking; dress, dark lounge suit, soft felt hat. Sup- posed a native of London. He obtained money on the pretence of teaching motor car driving, repair- ing, & c. Warrant issued. 4.— H Division.— For stealing ( servant) £ 56, 29th ult.— RALPH DREW, age 28, height 5 ft. 6 in, complexion fair, freckles on face, hair brown, eyes hazel; dress, navy blue jacket, light check vest and trousers, green check cap, button boots, may now be wearing new clothing. A native of London. Warrant issued. 5.— x Division.— For stealing £ 13 2s. 6d. 23rd August last— JOHN GERTENBACK, age 28, height 5 ft. 10 in, complexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes blue; dress, dark blue suit, hard felt hat, dark tie, brown canvas shoes. Supposed a native of Germany. Warrant issued. 6 — X Division.— For embezzling £ 4— HORACE ALFRED ADLAM, age 28, height 5 ft. 10| in, complexion fair, hair brown, eyes blue, cut scar back of head and under right eye; dress, blue serge suit and overcoat, black hard felt hat, lace boots. A clergyman; native of Bournemouth. When walking he was usually led by boys. May endeavour to leave the country. He represents himself as agent of an Art Company, Southend, and states that he will enlarge in crayon work a photograph free of cost, on the condition that a frame is purchased, for which he produces patterns of mouldings, on re- ceiving an order he asks for a deposit of 2s. or 3s. RAYMOND, age 30 to 35, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 in., slight build, complexion rather pale, hair ( thin on top) dark brown, long thin mous- tache light; dress, grey mixture lounge suit, black and grey cap, brown lace shoes, wears pince nez when reading. Stated he was a furniture re- mover's foreman, and had been transferred from Brighton. Warrant issued. 31. — Eastbourne ( Bo- uugh).— For em- bezzlement— CHARLES GAY, age abouW 38, height about 5 ft. 8 in., stout build, complexion fresh, full face, hair and stubby monstach-> dark ( turning grey), short sighted; dress, blue serge suit and cap. A laundry carman; native of Win- chester. Supposed known at Brighton, Ports- mouth, and Southport. Formerly employed as a workhouse porter. Warrant issued. CLARKE, age 38, height 5 ft. 3J in., complexion fresh, hair ( bald on top) and moustache brown, eyes grey. A 40, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 in., complexion pale, hair black, full beard, eyes dark, limps, mole under left eye. A watchmaker; native of Brightlingsea. The portrait was taken 16 years ago. METROPOLITAN 34.— 7 Division. — Tor indecent assault, 18th January last, on a girl age 15— WILLIAM TIDY, alias WILIJAM HENRY TIDY, Office No. S27734, age 25, height 5 ft. 9 or 10 in., com- plexion dark, hair black, eyes brown, " I HATE LOVE," " C. VINCE," " I. L. M. W.," and heart left forearm, scar left cheek, and 1 ( small) right of mouth; dress, grey suit and cap, blue muffler, lace boots. A horsekeeper; native of London. May POLICE DISTRICT seek employment at tramway, cab, omnibus, or carmen's yards. When wanted is in the habit of tramping the country. Sentenced at Middlesex Sessions, 8th April, 1903, to 9 months hard labour for horse stealing. Liberated on remission, 16th December, 1903. 4657. Warrant issued. A dealer; native of Fulham. Sentenced at North London Sessions, 17th May, 1898, to 3 years penal servitude, remanet of a former sentence, and 2 years supervision for lar- ceny. METROPOLITAN POLICE DISTRICT 36.— Cr Division.— For obtaining money by false pretences while employed as General Re- lieving Officer to the Holborn Board of Guardians, Clerkenwell Road— WILLIAM HARRYMAN, age 48, height 6 ft. 1 in., stout build, stoops slightly, complexion fresh, hair and moustache dark brown, eyes blue; dress, dark grey jacket suit, black hard felt hat with square top, lace boots. SUSSEX ( East). 37. — Lewes ( rounty). — For forging and uttering banker's cheques— WILLIAM GATES, age 29, height 5 ft. 8 in., rather stout build, complexion pale, full face, hair and eyes brown, clean shaved, wears gold pince nez, sometimes a monocular glass, short neck; dress, blue suit with white stripe, black bowler hat.
