All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communi- cations relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOR OF THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. _ _ , 1. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4, In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 6. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences, and engravings of stolen property, will be inserted at a cost of 7s. per portrait, and of os. per photograph or sketch of a stolen article, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the engraver's charge will range from 5s. to 10s. A remittance of 5s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 6. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement, for insertion in the next issue. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form} and accompanied by a covering letter. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. Announcements concerning persons missing can only be accepted on pay- ment; and the charges for the insertion of the same will be given on application. THE EDITOR, New Scotland Yard, London, S. W. Had with her a large dark crucifix, figures of 3 women at foot, and photographs of nurses. She represented she had lost her purse containing £ 28. ( Supposed identical with Expiree Mary Beatrice Manning, Office No. 2324- 98, Case No. 13, 28th July last; ILLUSTRATED CIRCULAR, No. 74, Figure 32.) CARNARVONSHIRE. 1C. — Bangor ( County). — For stealing a bicycle ( recovered)— HUGH THOMAS, age 30 to 33, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 in., complexion fresh, full face, heavy moustache light: dress, dark blue serge suit and cap. A native of Tynygroes. Is said to have recently been to sea and supposed to have in his possession a discharge book, " ss. Orrissa, Leyland Line," thereon. CHESHIRE. 11-— Crewe ( County).— For obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences, 1st inst.— WALTER NEVILLE, alias JOEL BLADEN, FREDERICK KING, CHARLES HENRY LATTIMER, ARTHUR DUNVILLE, CHARLES HENRY GRAHAM, and JACK GRAHAM, Office No. S 959 ( Case No. 11, 8th inst.), age 34, height 6 ft. 0^ in., complexion fresh, hair light brown, eyes bluish- grey ( rather weak), wears spectacles, scar under left jaw, suffers from rheumatic gout in feet; dress, dark suit, blue vest with white spots, medal ribbon stitched thereon, dark grey soft felt hat, carried a cloth bag. Stated he was a joiner and French polisher; native of Portsmouth. Sentenced at Oldham Borough Police Court, 4th February last, to 3 months hard labour, for obtaining food by false- pretences; has also been convicted at Longton, Worcester, Stafford, Carlisle, Exeter, Torquay,, and Chester. A footman; native of London. Is believed to have been em- ployed at music halls and theatres. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. ESSEX. 15— Brentwood ( County).— For obtaining 10s by false pretences, at South Weald, 29th July last— GEORGE WATTS or WATSON ( sup- posed false), age about 28, height 5 ft. 9 or 10 in., complexion, hair and moustache dark, eyes brown; dress, brown suit and cap. Stated he was collect- ing on behalf of the Brentwood Postmen's Fete and Sports. Warrant issued. HAMPSHIRE. 20.— Bournemouth { County).— For break- ing into a bathing machine office, 9th inst., and stealing a small bee clock; 1 cream colour sweater; 1 red snirt; 2 splicing prickers; and 7s.— A MAN, age about 24, height about 5 ft. 5 in., thin face ( sunburnt), clean shaved; dress, blue serge suit, blue motor cap with shiny peak, strap across top, military socks. Stated he belonged to Mel- borne, Australia, that he had served in the Navy, and intended joining the Army. Information to Supt. KENT. 24.— Dartford ( County).— For stealine a blue serge coat and vest; 1 white silk handkerchief; 1 white woollen jersey— DANIEL CARLARN, age 21 or 22, height 5 ft. 1 or 2 in., complexion fair, hair light, right little finger deformed, hair worn on forehead ; dress, blue serge coat and vest, light trousers with red spots, greenish cap, silk neckerchief, football boots. HARRI- SON, alias PETERS, and GEORGE HARVEY, age 40 to 45, height 5 ft. 10 or 11 in., complexion ruddy, prominent nose ; dress, dark suit and over- coat, black bowler hat. Had in his possession green printed cards, " Commercial Motor Car Com- pany, Ltd., Head Quarters, 42 Deansgate, Brisling- ton, Bristol, and Worthington Place, Tallow Hill, Worcester, represented by G. Harvey." The cheques are on the London and Provincial Bank, Bristol Branch, and are from a cheque book which was stolen at Folkestone in May last. Usually stays at commercial hotels, sometimes has with him a bicycle, at other times states he has a motor car or cycle at a local garage. He is also wanted at Lewes, Cranbrook, Hailsham, Lyndhurst, Win- chester, and Hastings. Warrant issued. Was employed as kitchen porter at a hotel. Absconded 30th ult. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Margate. 28— Tunbridge Welts ( Bormioh .— For obtaining £ 3 by a worthless cheque on the London and Provincial Bank, Ltd., Gosport Branch, 10th ult,— ARTHUR H. SIMCOE, age 38 to 40, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 in., stout build, complexion fair, red face, hair and slight moustache light ( may now be clean shaved), high forehead, wears an eye glass attached to a black cord, one leg stiff, ad- dicted to drink, twitches the top part of head when in conversation ; dress, light flannel or blue serge suit.
