All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communi- cations relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOR OF THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, 8. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 8. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of seme person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 6. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences, ami engravings of stolen property, will be inserted at a cost of 7s. per portrait, and of 5s. per photograph or sketch of a stolen articlc, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the engravers' charge irill range from 5s. to 10s. A remittance of 5s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent: and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. LTIOKTS. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear « number, and as fat us practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particular* culict riiinii tit IIIII/ W ntx tu stulm property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on tlnir apprehension or recovery, at once transmit tu the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement, for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all casts the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announcement will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded sn as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. Sentenced at Hull Sessions, 8th January, 1901, to 3 years penal servitude for burglary. Has also been convicted at Stafford, Nottingham, and Leeds. Notified 27tli ult. pro- ceeding to Hull, and was seen off by boat from St. Katherine's Wharf, London, but has since failed to report. A tailor. Warrant issued. SPECIAL NOTICE. IDENTIFICATION OF PRISONERS. THE EDITOR requests that Chief Officers of Police, when forwarding for identification by the Metropolitan Police the Photographs and descrip- tive forms of Persons in custody, will please see that the specific offence is stated, e. g. :— Stealing £ 1,000 from bank ; stealing pair of boots from shop door ; stealing bale of silk, van unattended, & c., & c. GREEN ( sup- posed false), age 25 to 27, height 5 ft. 7 in., com- plexion and hair dark, clean shaved, of good address, appearance of an actor or valet. He called on servants at private houses, and obtained the names of tradesmen by stating that he was in the employment of a lady who was taking a house in the neighbourhood. He afterwards presented the above cheque to a tradesman, and represented himself as the nephew of a customer. ( Supposed identical with J. H. Hudson, Case No. 48. 19th ult.) Warrant issued. He left behind a bicycle, 26 in. frame, free wheel, back Crabbe rim brake, tyres re- rubbered, upturned handlebars, forward lug, Dunlop forks, compressed and swing stays, rubber pedals. SUFFOLK ( East). 22. — Ipswich { County).— For burglary, between 16th and 17th ult., at Sproughton, and stealing an old sterling silver teapot, about a quart, 4 short legs, washer between knob and lid missing ; 1 electro- plated and embossed basket, with swing handle; 1 dessert knife with ivory handle; and- a bunch of about 14 keys— SAMUEL OWEN, age 22, height 5 ft. 6 in., hair and slight mous- tache dark; wearing dark coat and cap. Stated he was a shoemaker, of Ipswich.— GEORGE STUR- GESS, age 19, height 5 ft. 4 in., hair and moustache light; wearing light brown frock coat, dark cap. JOHN BULL, age 35, height 5 ft. 7 in., com- plexion swarthy, moustache dark, " T" and dot back left hand, rings on right fingers; wearing dark coat and cap; had in his possession an old black handle table knife, " T " centre of handle, thin blade, piece missing at end. The two latter are newsvendors, natives of London. One of the above may be wearing a pair black socks, with " A, Capel- Cure " on piece of tape at top. Stated he was a dentist.
