In the case of Marines not embarked who have deserted from the head ( uarters of their Divisions, the Army Descriptive Return, as specified in the 4th Schedule of the Army Act, 1881, should be used. In districts outside the Metropolitan Districts to which Naval Descriptive Returns are not supplied, the Army Form should be used in all cases. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought anil be inserted in our issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 3. In all cases where a reward is ottered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment m ust be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 5. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences, and engravings of stolen property will be inserted nt a cost of 15*. per portrait, and of 7s. 6d. per photo- graph or sketch of a stolen article. 6. Every announcement. if for the apprehensionof a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of nut less rank than Superintendent; and, if the name of such person is required to he inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate, deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by mi officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous tlwreto. S. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and, as far as practicable, they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement, for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all eases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announcement will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be receired not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on me side of the paper only ; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office.
