All announcements for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, ami all communications relating to them, should he addressed, to THE EDITOR OF THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD. IJOXDON. S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will he inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 3. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to he thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment m ust be rjtceu. and the exact conditions must be clearly . stated. 5. Portraits of personx whose apprehension is sought for serious offences, a> ul engravings of stolen property will be inserted at a cost of 15s. per portrait, and of 7s. 6d. per photo- graph or sketch of a stolen article. 6. Ecery announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed, by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and, if the name of such person is required to be inserted and, no warrant is in force against h im, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. ^. TIONS. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Anmuncements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear u number, and, as far as practicable, they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in. the POLICE GAZETTE, mint, on their apprehension or recovery, atom transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement, for insertion in the newt issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion, of any announcement will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so ns to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, unid accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, Xew Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. Announcements concerning property lost or persons missing can only be accepted on payment, and the charges for the insertion of the same will be given on application. E. R. HENEY. In most cases in which Licence- holders and Supervisees residing in the Provinces fail to report themselves and whose arrest is con- sequently desired, the Editor is requested to insert the particulars in the GAZETTE. A native of Antwerp, Belgium. Has been employed as a hall porter and ship's steward. May endeavour to obtain employment at catholic colleges, & c. Cameron, Barnard Castle 13 — Durham ( City).— For wounding, and stealing £ 2, 3rd inst.— A MAN, age about 23, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 in., complexion dark, square face, clean shaved, will probably have one or both eyes discoloured, spoke with Tyneside accent ; dress, dark jacket, supposed a blue jacket or slop underneath, dark trousers, light cap. U.— Braintree ( County). — For stealing, 3rd inst., a pneumatic safety bicycle, free wheel, Dunlop tyres, black spokes, Westwood rims, flat handle bars, felt tips, rat- trap pedals, block chain, Bowden brake, 30 in. front wheel, 28 in. back wheel, transfer " Swift Club" and supposed " No. 22950," on head, bell and saddle bag attached— A MAN, age 16 to 18, height 5 ft. 2 or 3 in., complexion pale, freckled face, hair light, wears glasses; dress, navy blue serge suit and cap. Mason, 149, Forton Road, Gosport, and small bicycle wheel," on head of machine- EDWARD SMITH, age 22, looks older, height 5 ft. 9 in., complexion fresh, hair light brown, moustache light, eyes grey, large scar right leg; Wearing uniform of the Royal Garrison Artillery, from which he is a deserter. Silver, Gosport. 17— Southampton ( Borough).— For ob- taining by false pretences, 28th ult., a lady's 14 ct. gold watch, No. 25649 ; 1 do. 18 ct. buckle ring, set 2 diamonds, " J. G. G." stamped inside— A MAN, age about 50, height about 5 ft. 11 in., complexion florid, hair dark, heavy moustache turning grey, large Roman nose ( dis- coloured), of military appearance; wearing a brown waterproof coat, brown soft felt hat, brown gloves. He calls upon tradesmen, selects articles which he asks to be allowed to take with him, gives an order for goods to be forwarded to a fictitious address, and absconds. Supposed iden- tical with A. H. LANCASHIRE. 20.— Liverpool ( City).— For stealing from her lodgings, 31st ult., an oxidised open face key- less watch, " W. deOzamis," in gilt letters on back of case; 1 heavy gold ring, set dark stone, shield shape, band cracked in 2 places ; a number of plated and silver forks and spoons, some marked " V0- 10 " ; 1 black serge costume — MADGE O'CONNELL, age 33, height 5 ft. 2 in., slight build, red face, hair brown, several front teeth missing, spoke with Irish accent; dress, black alpaca dress, brown golf cape with blue and white check hood, black sailor hat, trimmed large black silk band fastened at side with jet buckle. Stated she was a native of Belfast. Is believed identical with Rose Collins, Case No. 57, 31st ult. ; Madge Ash worth, Case No. 98, 24th ult.; and Madge O'Sullivan, Case No. 15, 27th December, 1901. Information to the Head Constable, Detective Department, Liverpool. 21.— Bolton ( Borough).— For stealing a silver English lever watch, No. 547243, maker Graves, Sheffield, " Graves," on dial— JAMES WALLIS, alias WILLIAMS, THOMPSON, ROBINSON and FRANK HOLT, Office No. 1525- 01, age 25, height 5 ft. 3£ in., hair brown, complexion fresh, eyes hazel, scar over each eyebrow, right temple and left thumb, burn scar right knee, birthmark left buttock. A tailor; native of Liverpool. Sentenced at Central Criminal Court, 23rd July, 1900, to 12 months hard labour for larceny and receiving. Previously convicted at Liverpool, Birmingham, Hanley and Doncaster. Information to the Chief Constable, Bolton. and moustache ( turning grey) light brown, eyes grey. A currier ; native of Burnley. Is believed to be working in Lancashire or Yorkshire; also acting as agent to a firm of watchmakers. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Edge, Whitchurch. 5 TA FFOR OS HIRE. 26.— Lone/ ton ( County).— For attempting to extort money by threatening to shoot with & revolver, 30th ult.— A MAN, age 18 to 20, height 5 ft. 9 in., slight build, square shoulders, com- plexion fresh, hair light; dress, light jacket, dark trousers, dark blue silk neckerchief with red stripes, blown cap. Information to Supt. Oakden, Longton. 27.— Stafford ( County).— For stealing a gold watch at Longton, 24 th ult.— HORACE NALL, alias HARRY" NALL or HARRISON, age about 23, height 5 ft. 9 in., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes grey, scar on left cheek and knee, cross tattooed back of left forearm, birth- mark top of left shoulder ; dress, grey jacket suit, black hard, hat, lace boots, usually carries a small cane. A native of Altrincham. Stated he was an insurance agent and a veterinary surgeon. Previously convicted at Warrington, Manchester, Bedford and Grimsby. Warrant issued. SUFFOLK. 28. — Ipswich ( Borough). — For larceny— WILLIAM DRAPER alias JAMES ROBERT PARKER, age 28, height 5 ft. in., weight stones, complexion fresh, hair dark brown, eye hazel, butterfly, 2 hands and 3 stars tattooed on right forearm, heart and arrow, dots and two indistinct marks left forearm, scar left side of forehead; dress, dark overcoat, dark mixture suit, hard felt hat. LEICESTERSHIRE. 22.— Leicester ( Borough). — For larceny ( lodgings), 6th inst.— A MAN, age 25, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 in., slight build, complexion fresh, hair light, clean shaved, eye's prominent, irregular teeth ; dress, black jacket and vest, light trousers, plaid cap. He took lodgings, stated he was a grocer's assistant and that he had obtained em- ployment in the town. Information to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Leicester. LINCOLNSHIRE. 23.— Grimsby ( Borough).— For stealing £ 7, 8th inst.— FRED OXLEY, age about 53, height 5 ft. 9 in., complexion sallow, hair ( turning grey) and eyes brown, tattooed on wrists, slightly lame, walks with a stick, carries his head forward ; dress, black jacket and vest, grey check trousers, black cap, old lace boots. A pedlar. Information to Chief Constable Stirling, Town Hall, Grimsby. NOR THA MPTONSHIRE. 24.— Northampton ( County).— For obtain- ing a horse by false pretences— A MAN, who gave the names of WEBB and BROWN, age about 50, height 6 ft., complexion fresh, hair, whiskers, beard, and moustache dark, eyes blue, carries his head forward when walking; wearing a fawn colour covert coat, black hard felt hat, brown leather leggings. He advertises in local papers for van horses, visits farms, & c., states he is pur- chasing hay for the Government, and that he would forward a cheque in payment on arrival home. Warrant issued. SHROPSHIRE. 25.— Whitchurch ( County).— For non- payment of £ 6 10s. fine and costs, imposed for larceny— THOMAS JAMES HENSMAN, age 51, height 5 ft. 5 in., complexion sallow, whiskers SUSSEX ( East). 29.— Hastings ( Borough).— For obtaining money by false pretences— GEORGE NORTON, age about 40, height 5 ft. 9 or 10 in., slight build, clean shaved. He advertises in the Exchange and Mart, offering a dog for sale, receives pay- ment, but fails to send the animal. Warrant issued. 30.— Hastings ( Borough). — For stealing, 25th ult., a safety bicycle, Clincher B tyres, 28 by in. rims, plated jointless Perry fittings through- out, Morrow hub. Perry £- in. pitch roller chain, rat- trap pedals, 77 gear, R. F. blue enamel mud- guard, black celluloid gear case, Lycett saddle L75, drop handle bars, 1- in. forward lug, 26- in. frame, transfer on head and centre tube, Flying Fox phenomenon lamp — LEONARD CLARK, age about 19, height 5 ft. 9 or 10 in., complexion dark, clean shaved, scar under left side of chin ; dress, blue black suit, black hard felt hat. P." thereon, on one little finger, and small gold watch chain across vest. Has been employed as clerk to the Registrar of the Hitchin County Court. A native of Hitchin. Warrant issued.
