In all eases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announcement trill hr wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. Announcements for the Friday issue should he forwarded so as to he received not later than noon on Wednesday, arul for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. SPECIAL NOTICE. FUGITIVE OFFENDERS. A case has come under the notice of the Editor, in which a person whose apprehension was sought in England, and who was described in the POLICE GAZETTE, gave himself up to the Colonial Police. The prosecutor declined to take any further action in the matter, but the case necessitated the dispatch of two telegrams, the cost of which had to be refunded by him. To avoid such expense, the Editor requests that if there is reason to believe that a fugitive offender is likely to go to the Colonies, and the prosecutor is unwilling to incur any expense with a view to obtain his surrender, a notification be made in the communication sent to this Office to the effect that the offender is not to be arrested beyond the United Kingdom. The necessity for the adoption of such a course will be apparent from the fact that the POLICE GAZETTE is circulated in the Colonies. An engineer; native of Grimsby, may seek employment as driver of a steam or electric launch. Had in his possession several cheques on the London and Provincial Bank, Teddington. A native of Y'oule, Somerset. Sentenced at Brighton, 2nd July, 1900, to 4 months imprisonment for fraud; pre- viously convicted at Portsmouth, Warrington, and Greenwich. Warrant issued.
