All announcements fur insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communications relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOR OF THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken uvon them by another force. 3. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable he article in question to be thereby identified. I cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. fa. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences, and engravings of stolen property will be inserted at a cost of 15*. per portrait, and of 7s. 6d. per photo- graph or sketch of a stolen article. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and, if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. >•. LTIONS. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of iwt less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and, as far as practicable, they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to tht Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement, for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announcement will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publicat ion. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to he received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly uyrittcn on one side of the paper only ; they must be in the usual form. and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. Is a deserter from the 4th Battalion Worcester Regiment. 11.— Aldershot ( County). — For stealing £ 64, 3rd inst.,— HENRY SKELTON, age 26, height 5 ft. 7 in., complexion fresh, hair and moustache brown ; dress, blue melton overcoat, tweed trousers, hard hat, wearing a gold watch chain. Is a sergeant of the South Wales Borderers. May endeavour to leave the country. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Hawkins, Aldershot. HEREFORDSHIRE. 12.— Bromyard ( County).— For burglary — Licence - holder WILLIAM JONES, alias WALTER PITT, Office No. 199- 01, age 70, height 5 ft. 2£ in., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes light brown, nail of right forefinger deformed, birthmark right thigh, decrepit appearance. A labourer. Sentenced at Hereford Assizes, 12th July, 1893, to 5 years penal servitude and remanet of former sentence. Liberated on licence, which expires 10th Jul}' next, on 17th January last. Warrant issued. 15.— Liverpool ( City).— For stealing ( bailee) a gold watch ( recovered)— JOHN KELLIE, age 50 to 54, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 in., stout build, hair, beard and moustache dark, may be wearing glasses, high forehead, peculiar gait; wearing dark overcoat, silk hat. YORKSHIRE ( East Riding). 22.— Hull ( City).— For stealing a watch ( re- covered) — WILLIAM TAYLOR LAMBERT, age 24, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 in., complexion pale, hair light brown, large cut scar on left cheek- bone near eye ; dress, light morning coat, two vests, two pairs of trousers ( one light, other dark), blue and white stripped muffler, light check cloth cap, old lace boots. A labourer; native of Hull. He applies at Mission Halls, & c., for relief. May be found working on railways. Warrant issued. 23. — Hull ( City).— For false pretences — PERCY MILDRUM, age 15 to 16, height 5 ft., complexion fresh, hair light, eyes blue; dress, old dark suit, light cap. YORKSHIRE ( West Riding). 24.— Otley ( County).— For stealing brass mill fittings at Baildon ( recovered) — BELTON SHACKLETON, age 43, height 5 ft. 8J in., com- plexion fresh, hair brown, moustache light brown, eyes blue, indistinct B tattooed on left forearm, cut mark centre of forehead, stammers when excited ; dress, supposed long fawn colour over- coat, bluish trousers, brown hat. A mechanic; native of Keighley. May endeavour to leave the country. Warrant issued. 25.— Otley ( County).— For failing to report — FRED COOK, Office No. 2107- 00, age 24, height 5 ft. 3f in., complexion fresh, hair and eyes brown, F. C. back right forearm, dot back left forearm, scar right of forehead. Sentenced to death at Leeds Assizes, 26th July, 1893, for wilful murder, commuted to penal servitude for life. Recently employed as a waiter at a restaurant. He left the racing stables at Newmarket about 6 months ago, before completing his apprenticeship. Warrant issued. DEVONSHIRE. 27.— Exeter ( County).— Committed for trial at the ensuing Devon Assizes, for bigamy.— JOHN MARTIN, alias WILLIAM WILLIAMS and COUSIN BILL, age 52, height 5 ft. 5 in., com- plexion sallow, hair brown, eyes blue. A navvy or labourer ; native of Cornwall. Is well known on Public Works. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable of Devon, Exeter. ESSEX. 28.— Chelmsford ( County). — Sentenced, 5th inst., to 7 days imprisonment for stealing a coat— HENRY HARRIS, alias MARTIN, age 63, height 5 ft. 2 in., complexion fresh, receding fore- head, hair brown, eyes grey, nose has been broken. A native of Leicester; states he is a printer. Photograph can been seen on application. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable, Chelmsford. NORTHAMPTONSHIRE. 29.— Northampton( Borough).— Remanded till 17th inst., charged with stealing a jacket and vest— THOMAS MILLS ( supposed false), age 47 ( looks younger), height 5 ft., complexion dark, hair black, moustache dark, eyes brown, mole back of left shoulder, several scars back of neck, 3 back of head, 2 right knee, cut scar left cheek, scar left forearm, above and under right eye, left side of chin, iind bridge of nose, varicose veins right leg ; dress, dark clothes. States he is a shoe- maker or labourer and a native of Marylebone. Information to Chief Constable Mardlin, Northampton. STAFFORDSHIRE. 30.-— Stafford ( County). — Remanded till 15th inst. at Lichfield, for stealing a pair of stockings— Supervisee CHARLES KNIGHT, alias BURDEN, BARKER, CROSS, BURDER, and SMITH, Office No. 17- 01 ( see Case No. 27, 8th February last), age about 34, height 5 ft. 4 in., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes blue ; anchor back right hand, hernia right side. A hawker; native of Leamington. Supposed wanted for other offences. Information desired as to any recent convictions. Sentenced at Northampton Borough Quarter Sessions, 6th July, 1900, to 6 months hard labour for larceny. Supervision on a former sentence expires 5th January next. 2393. TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 1901. T H E P O L I C E GAZETTE. 3 A YRSHIRE. 38.— Mauchline { County).— For obtaining a tipping cart by fraud, 9th November last— THOMAS E. SPICK, alias CLAY and HOWARD, age 35, height 5 ft. 7 in., complexion fresh, oval face, hair light brown, eyes bine, end of right thumb injured, scars on left elbow and outside right eye. A native of Farndon, Notts. He entered into negotiations with agricultural imple- ment manufacturers for the purchase of certain of their exhibits at an agricultural show, used printed memo forms with " Spick Bros., carting contractors, & c., Grainger Street, Nottingham" thereon, whereby he obtained a tipping cart, which was forwarded to Nottingham, and afterwards sold by auction at Derby market. Is well known in Nottingham and Derbyshire. Has been con- victed of long firm frauds, felony, & c. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable of Ayrshire, Ayr. LANCASHIRE. 39.— L iver no O / ( City).— For embezzling £ 8 15s., 1st February last— WILLIAM RICHARD PARRY, age 23 ( looks younger), height 5 ft. 7 in.,. slight build, complexion pale, hair ( curly) brown, slight moustache light, eyes blue, consumptive; CITY OF LONDON. 35.— For stealing £ 913s — FRANZ KRIMMEL, an Austrian, age about 22, height 5 ft. 4 in., height 5 ft. 8 in., complexion swarthy, prominent nose, hair black, small moustache, and large e> es dark.
