He answered advertisements inserted in the London papers for work, stating he was foreman to a contractor who had obtained a large contract in London, and offered to find employment for the persons adver- tising upon a deposit of 5s. Is accompanied by his wife, age 19 or 20, height about 5 ft., thin build, complexion fair, hair short; wearing an old navy blue serge jacket, white straw sailor hat with blue band. Warrant issued. 14.- Portsmouth ( Borough). — For an offence under the Vagrancy Act of 1898— FREDERICK LEVITT, alias ARCHER, age 40 to 45, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 in., complexion fair, hair light, clean shaved, abscess marks both sides of face; dress, dark blue jacket and vest, light trousers, dark cap. A sign writer; native of Southampton. May seek employment as a painter. METROPOLITAN POLICE DISTRICT 80.- - Executive Branch.— 10th inst., near Quay of ( rare Maritime, Calais, the partly decomposed body of A MAN, age supposed 25 to 30, length about 5 ft. 8 in., stout build, rather broad face, hair brown, clean shaved ; dress, brown grey mixture Inverness cloak, black cheviot jacket ( nearly new), black diagonal thick cheviot vest, dark grey mixture trousers, one button marked " Samuel Brothers, London," others marked " Suspender," black woollen socks, woollen muffler, u Polo " collar, " extra quality I t g," and, supposed, " S1944" in marking ink thereon, Oxford shoes. Found in pockets a portemonnaie, small two blade penknife, and a small cheap brooch, pin broken. The body is believed to have been in the water about a fortnight, and to be that of an Englishman who was at Boulogne from 10th to 12th ult., and gave the name of SANDFORD. si Executive Branch.— Found dead on 21st inst., at Sens, France, in the Calais- Rome Express— A MAN, supposed to be Mr. B. Roberts, who from 13th ult. to 21st inst. stayed at the Victoria Hotel, W. C., w hen he left to travel by Continental train from Charing Cross. The follow- ing is given as his description— age 65 to 70, height 5 ft. 7 in., slight build, very bent, complexion dark, thin face, hair and short beard iron grey, shuffling gait; dress, dark brown jacket suit, dark overcoat, soft black felt hat.
