All announcement! for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communications relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOR OF THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SOOTLAND YABD, LONDON, S. W. 1, Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of Khe POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 5 Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4 In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 5. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences, and engravings of stolen property will be inserted at a cost of 15*. per portrait, and of Is. 6d. per photo- graph or sketch of a stolen article. 1. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of iv> t less rank than Superintendent; and, if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. ATIONS. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and, as far as practicable, they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the" POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor iwtice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement, for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announcement wi. l tm wholly responsible for any proceeding* which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be rereived not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Siturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only ; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Orde- or by Post Office Order payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. Announcements concerning property lost or person* missing can only be accepted on payment, and the charges for tlie insertion of the same will be given on application. R. ANDERSON. Editor SPECIAL NOTICE. The amount of stolen property at present " circu- lated " !> y the Metropolitan Police has become so inordinately large as to prejudice or destroy the practical value of the records, and it has been found necessary to limit it very considerably. It has been decided, therefore, to discontinue the "' cir- culation " in Informations and Pawnbrokers' Lists of all property stolen in the provinces, unless where there are grounds for believing that the property has found its way to the Metropolis. Chief Con- stables are requested accordingly, when forwarding lists of stolen property to Scotland Yard, to send with them a letter to that effect. And if bills or circulars are received in future, unaccompanied by such a letter, it will be assumed that the " circula- tion " of the particulars they contain is not desired. A wood turner, may seek employ- ment at sawmills. Was accompanied by his wife, age about 47, complexion and hair dark, and daughter, age about 14. Warrant issued. Information to Chief Constable Derham, Black- pool. vicuna frock coat and vest, slate colour trousers, silk hat. States he is a native of Middlesex. He represented himself as a consulting engineer of 52, Bridge Road, Southampton, and advertised for tenders for the erection of an electrical installa- tion at Reading, for which specifications would be forwarded on receipt of £ 1 Is. When arrested a number of letters were found in his possession which had accompanied remittances. Information to Chief Constable Danby, Hyde.
