ATIONS. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed, by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and, as far as practicable, they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted > n the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement, for insertion in the next issue. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announcement will h* loholly responsible for any proceed'mqs which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so us to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written ok one side of the paper only ; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order or by Post Office Order payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. SPECIAL NOTICE. In c^ rtfUi^ eases questions have arisen as to the payment for photographs applied for by Police Forces under Home Olfice circular of 15th March, 1897. The Registrar of Habitual Criminals is therefore authorised by the Secretary of State to say that, in any ordinary case, a photograph is not necessary to enable his Department to identify a prisoner, the measurements and finger prints being sufficient for the purpose ; but if a photo- graph is applied for, or if, in any rare case, it should be required to complete the identification, the coijf be charged to the Police Force interested.
