APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY. Antrim. Particulars relative to convict HENRY FITZ GIBBON, otherwise GIBBONS, otherwise M'DON- ALD, otherwise J. SMITH, otherwise BLACK, otherwise TUITE. C. 654, convicted at Omagh, County Tyrone Assizes, on 8th March, 1893, for larceny from the person, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:.., 62 years of age, can read and write; is a Roman Catholic ; is a widower, with one child ; is a dealer ; prison trade tailor; was born at Granard; resided before conviction at Belfast, where his friends reside ; gray hair, blue eyes, gray eyebrows, regular nose and mouth, fresh complexion, round visage, stout make, 5 feet 3J inches high, bald, lost several front teeth, small scars on right eyebrow, corner of right eye, and right cheek, whitlow- mark on first finger left hand. This man was released from Maryboro' prison on 25th March last, on second order of licence, and went to Armagh, which place he left on 28th of same month, stating that he was going to Belfast; he did not re- port himself there, although it has been ascertained that he was there for a time, and his present where- abouts are unknown. If arrested he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., s. 5, c. 112, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. before conviction at Cork, where his friends reside ; fair hair, blue eyes, fair eyebrows, regular nose, medium mout', freckled complexion, round visage, proportion- ate make, 5 feet 2 inches high, hair thin on top of head, speaks very rapidly. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on the 20th November, 1897, and went to reside at Cork. He left Cork about the 14th Jnne, 1898, without notifying the Police, and is believed to have gone in the direction of the Curragh or Dublin, but although inquiry has been made his present whereabouts are not known. If arrested he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., sec. 5, cap. 112 as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 12th September, 1898. ( 629 u c ) Description of THOMAS O'MAHONY, native of Cork, who stands charged with having, on the 31st August, 1898, in the barcny of Cork, parish of St. Peter's, burglariously entered the house of Eliza Conway, Grenville- quay, Cork, and stolen therefrom 20 sovereigns, 1 five pound note, a gold seal, a diamond ring, and elastic boets which he is wearing :— V ery dark Italian appearance with a cast in right eye, and small scar on forehead, hazel eyes, regular nose, swarthy complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 4 J inches high, about 41 years of age, black hair tinged with gray ; wore a black, shabby coat, black trows rs, and vest much worn; is wearing a diamond ring, elastic side boots with mock buttons, and yellow cotton socks is a waiter. Warrant issued. Cork, South. 6th September, 1698. ( 53783 c.— 72416). Description of MARGARET DONOVAN ( mother's surname Ahern), native of Cloheen, who stands charged with having, on the night of 30th or morning of 31st August, 1898, in the barony of Kinalea, parish of Dunderrow, stolen one blue cotton shirt, one calico chemise ( recovered), and one black cotton blouse jacket with white trees worked thereon, which she may be wearing, all the property of Mrs. Catherine Gash :— Tender eyelids, gray eyes, regular nose, reddish com- plexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, about 26 years of age, black hair ; wore a greenish skirt, dark cloak, low shoes, and probably the stolen bbuee ; is a domestic servant. Warrant issued. Bandon, 7th September, 1898. ( 53795 c.— 72449), such pigs being value for about £ 7 .-— High cheek bones, front teeth overlapping ; small dark eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, square face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 28 years of age, dark hair; wore a gray tweed cap, coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Warrant issued. Cork North, 17th August, 1898. ( 53438 c.— 71763). Description of a MAN, unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 18th July, 1898, in the barony of Cork, parish of Currykippane, stolen three heifers ( since recovered), value about £ 28, the pro- perty of Timothy Connors, of Clogheen, and sold the cattle at Donughmore fair, on 19th July, 1898, for £ 22:— Thin hardy appearance, dark complexion, slight make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 10 years of age ; wore a dark coat and trtwsers, ( Ad and worn ; looked like a blacksmith or shoemaker. Description of DENIS CRONIN, native of Gloun- thane, near Mallow, who stands charged with having, on the 4th August, 1898, in the barony of Cork, Description of a MAN, unknown, who stands charged with having, on the night of 20th July, 1898, in the barony of Muskerry East, parish of Ahabul logue, stolen an ass's cart, the property of Daniel Dennehy, from his yard at Ahavrin, Coachford :— Sandy complexion, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 60 years of age, sandy torning gray hair, sandy side whiskers turning gray, chin shaven ; wore a black coat and trowsers; is a tinker or rag- gatherer. Description of JOHN NOLAN ( mother's surname Murphy), native of Carn, who stands charged with having, oa the 5th day of August, 1898, in the barony of AJaherastephana, parish of Aughlurcher, seriously assaulted one William Baird, by stabbing him with a knife in the breast:— Sunburnt, worn appearance, , iaks with a slight American accent, blue eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 34 years of age, brown hair; wore a hard hat, black coat, tweed trowsers, black vest; is a labourer. MICHAEL HEGGINS ( who left his home), de- scribed in Hue and- Cry of 10th June, has not yet been found. ( 597— H. o ) Kildare. Description of Dr. THOMAS JENKENS, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 11th day of July, J 898, at monasterevan, in the barony of Offaly West, parish of monasterevan, obtained a sum of £ 2 by false pretences, from Rev. Hugh M'Keag, of 67, Heytesbury- street, Dublin, by wiring to him in the name of Mr. T. H. Seale, and signing receipt for same in name of T. H. Seale :— Had right wrist bandaged as result of a bicycle accident, brown eyes, regular no » e, florid complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 33 years of age, brown hair ; wore a white chip hat with red band, brown coat, brown knicker trowsers, brown vest; is supposed to belong to a bogus firm of Peat Fuel Manufacturers. Name is supposed ti be fictitious. Speaks fluently, has a red card case in his possession on which is written inside " Please admit Thomas Jenkins royal Hospital, Edinburgh." Warrant issued. Description of THOMAS FLOOD, native of Rath, burton, Ballywilliam, county Wexford, who stands charged with having, on the 19th May, 1898, at Garranabehy, in the barony of Ida, parish of Rosbercon, stolen a bicycle, the property of John Graingel, which has since been recovered :— shaves all the face except moustache, which is black, brown eyes, thin nose, pale sallow complexion, long thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 26 years of age, black hair ; wore a black cap, light gray tweed coat, trowsers and vest; is a farm labourer. ( 51381 c— 67737). JEREMIAH MULCAHY and THOMAS MUL- CAHY ( intimidation by firing shots), Hue- and- Cry, 10th June, not arrested. (£ 0824 c 66622). Louth. Particulars relative to convict PATRICK HUSSEY, otherwise KELLY, otherwise BRADY, otherwise WILSON, otherwise MURPHY, otherwise RYAN, C. 789, convicted at Cavan Quarter Sessions on 16th October, 1894, for house- breaking, larceny, an-* former conviction, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 47 years of age on conviction ; can read and write; is a Presbyterian; single ; is a tailor; prison trade— tailor ; born at Limerick, resided before conviction at Bailieboro; light brown hair turning gray, brown eyes, light brown eyebrows, regular nose, medium mouth, pale complexion, oval visage, medium make, 6 feet J inches high, hollow right cheek near chin, right forefinger has been broken, varicose veins both legs, getting bald on top of head. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on the 29th July, 1898, and wer. t to Dundalk. He left that pi ice without reporting his departure on the 2nd August, leaving behind his copy of licence. His present whereabouts are unknown. If arrested he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic, s. 5, c. 112, as amended by Penal Servitude Act of 1891. 1st September, 1898. ( 53338 72200). Description of PATRICK RICE ( mother's surname Kane), native of Fathom Upper, county Armagh, who stands charged with having, on the night of 10th August, 1898, in the barony of Lower Dundalk, parish of Carlingford, stabbed Peter Cull, on right temple, with a penknife:— Grey eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a black coat, bluish tweed trowsers, black vest; is a labourer. A Warrant has been issued, and is in the hands of the District Inspector R. I. C., Dundalk. Dundalk, 14th August, 1898. ( 53383 c.— 71666). Meath. Description of JAMES BOURNES, native plaoe unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 21st August, 1898, in the barony of Upper Slane, parish of Stackallen, stolen one suit of clothes, the property of Lieutenant Henry Osborne, from the Militia Camp, at Stackallen:— Slightly pockpitted, has stoppage in speech, heavy brown moustache, hazel eyes, fresh complexion, shaved face, medium make, 5 feet inches high, about 30 years of age, brown hair; wore a gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a groom and militiaman. Suoposed to be wearing the clothes of the foregoing description; value for about £ 2, Warrant issued. Navan, 24th August, 1898. ( 53561 72015.) Monaghan. Description of EMILY KERR, native of Glenda- vagh, county Tyrone, who, on the 29th July, 1898, in the baroDy of Trough, parish of Donagh, left the house of her employer, John Ferguson, and has not since been heard of, and it is feared she may have met with foul play :— Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, sandy com- plexion, long face, medium make, 4 feet 10 inches high, about 16 years of age, red hair ; wore a sailor bat ( straw) with black band, low shoes, black stockings, and a gray dress ; is a servant. Monaghan, 25th August, 1898. ( 625— H C.) Roscommon. Description of TIMOTHY BEIRNE, ( mother's surname Shanley), native of Derrylow, who stands charged with having, on the 9th day of May, 1898, in the barony of Boyle, parish of Killukin, assaulted Patrick Feely, by throwing a piece of iron which struck Feely on the head. Beirne was on bail, but failed to appear at Croghan Petty Sessions, on 18th July, 1898, at the hearing of the case :— Cut- mark on top of fore- head caused by a blow received 9th May, 1898, grey eyes, cocked nose, fresh complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 20 years of age ; wore a grey tweed cap, blue serge trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Description of TWO MEN, nameB and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 20th day of August, 1898, in the barony of eliogarty, parish of Holycross, robbed one Thomas Bannon, of the sum of five shillings ( 5s.) :— 1. Mark of an old cut, about two inches long, on left cheek, fair complexion, small thin face, slight make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 20 years of age, light sandy hair; wore a gray cap, gray sack coat, gray trowsers and vest, wore bad boots. 2. Sunken jaws, dark swarthy complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair ; wore a soft black hat, long black coat, black trowsers and vest, coat much worn, and torn at elbows and shoulders, wore bad boots. C.) who stands Description of JAMES WARD, charged with having embezzled the sum of 13*. 6d. on 1st June last, which he received at Kingstown for and on account of his employer, Mr. George Price, who trades as " Frederick Vodrey," Delph and China Merchant, 23, Moore- street, Dublin :— He is about 32 years of age, about 6 feet high, stout make, round red face, thick lips, fair hair, slight sandy moustache, rest of face shived; dressed in a brown tweed suit, reefer jacket, black jerry hat; may be wearing a short dust coat. This man left here on 13th inst. and is supposed to have gone to Aberdeen; he had previously been employed in a shipbuilding yard in Glasgow painting ships, and may now seek some similar work. Warrant is in the hands of Superintendent Lanktree, Detective Department, Exchange Court, Dublin, 26th, August, 1898. ( 626 M. C.) Description of MARY KELLY who stands charged with having, on 25th day of July, 1898, at Berkeley- road, City of Dublin, wilfully abandoned her male infant, aged nine days, in a manner likely to cause it injury to its health :— She is abont 26 or 28 years of age, tall and thin, dark hair and complexion, dressed in black cloth tight- fitting jacket, dark green skirt, dark woollen wrapper, white sailor hat and black band. She is alleged to be a native of Gormanstown, county Meath, and she stated she knew the town of Dunleer well. She may be found at Drogheda, Balbriggan, Skerries, or some of the coast towns about there. Warrant is in the hands of Superintendent Lanktree. Absconded from Porthcawl on tbe 5th July, 1898, charged on a warrant with stealing £ 50, the property of H. M. Postmaster- General, WILLIAM HUGH CLATWORTHY, late Sub- Postmaster:_ About 35 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fresh and freckled complexion, light brown hair, blue eyes, light brown whiskers and moustache closely trimmed and pointed, probably he may have since clean shaven ; prominent eyes, which are bloodshot from excessive drinking ; he is of a very nervous temperament, bald on front part of bead, and has a small tuft of hair in centre; back of both hands are freckled ; walks erect, smartly ; fond of company and talkative; dressed when last seen in a dark brown jacket and vest, light trowsers, lace- up boots, and bowler hat; was a prominent member of the Wesleyan Connexion. Has not reported since 10th July, at which date he stated he was employed as a scavenger with the Glasgow Corporation. Wanted here on sheriff's warrant, charged with theft • of £ 20 ( consisting of 40 half- sovereigns), committed at Barrhead, at 2 p. m., on Wednesday, 17th August, 1898 :— JAMES M'LEAN, a pawnbroker's assistant, 19 years of age, about 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, medium build, thin face, rather high forehead, dark eyes, sallow complexion, is a native of Glasgow, and speaks with Scot « h accent; supposed to have a scar under his chin on the left side ; dressed when last seen in brownish tweed cap, with a curly nap on surface, black corded cloth jacket suit, white front with collar attached, dark tie, and brown lacing boots; had in his posses- sion a silver Geneva watch, a silver Albert chain, curb pattern, and a silver badge as pendant. During the past two years accused was an assistant in a pawnbroking office at Barrhead, and resided with John Mallon, his step- father, at 140, Gallogate- street, Glasgow. He committed the theft during the tem- porary absence of the manager, and immediately after- wards absconded. He has been six years in the pawn- broking business, and may seek similar employment. Police officers are requested to have search and enquiry made for accused at pawnbroking establish- ments, salesrooms, and other likely places, where he may < teek employment, at shipping offices ( as he may endeavour to leave the country), and, if found, arrest or should any trace, however slight, be obtained, to communicate with CHAS. Description of an ass, the property of James Mooney, which it is alleged was stolen from the lands of Skerry, parish of Rosenallis, barony of Tinnahinch, on the night of the 19th August, or morning of the 20th August, 1898, viz:— A low white gelding ass, strong appearance, long tail, short thick snout, very light in colour, and heavy body, in good condition, one hind shoe off, about 8 or 9 years' old, and value for about £ 2 ; may have old mark of straddle on off side of back. The ass is likely to be found in possession of a band of tinkers who passed by Skerry some time previous to the ass being missed. Rosenallis, 26th August, 1898.
