SPECIAL NOTICE. THE amount of stolen property at pre- sent " circulated " by the Metropolitan Police has become so inordinately large as to prejudice or destroy the practical value of the records, and it has been found necessary to limit it very consider- ably. lt has been decided, therefore, to discontinue the " circulation" in Infor- mations and Pawnbrokers' Lists of all property stolen in the provinces, unless where there are grounds for believing that the property has found its way to the Metropolis. Chief Constables are re- quested accordingly, when forwarding lists of stolen property to Scotland Yard, to send wdth them a letter to that effect. And if bills or circulars are received in future, unaccompanied by such a letter, it will be assumed that the " circulation" of the particulars they contain is not desired. The same course will be followed with respect to property lost and persons missing. SPECIAL NOTICES. METROPOLITAN POLICE DISTRICT, Criminal Investigation Department ( Cor- respondence No. 118558). Attention is directed to advertisements which are appearing in The Feather World, Cook's Monthly Poultry Journal, and similar publications, and inserted by persons calling them- selves " M. Blanch and Co., 171, High Street, Putney," and " J. Broderick, Cleveland Road, Barnes, S. W., Incubator Manufacturers," which is one and the same firm. They profess to supply incubators at exceptionally low prices, & c. Numerous complaints have been received from all parts of the United Kingdom as to the difficulty experienced in obtaining the incubators after they have been paid for. The excuse given to Police as to the cause of the delay is that the supply has not been equal to the demand. Up to the present date, although the numerous complaints have given rise to suspicion, there has been no evidence to substantiate a charge of fraud. The " Can I Do It!" puzzle, of the " Game and Puzzle Manufacturing Company, 4a, Japan Crescent Crouch Hill, London," which is now being exten- sively advertised, is a swindle of the type of the " Talto Puzzle," mentioned in the POLICE GAZETTE of the 30th ult. Here, again, the Metropolitan Police are unable either to prosecute the delinquent, or to protect people who are silly enough to be duped by him.
