The following is a copy of the order which governs the circulation, by the Metropolitan Police, of advertisements, or reward bills, for the discovery of property or the detec- tion of crime. The Editor inserts it, in hope of preventing delaya which sometimes occur in publishing such notices, UD account of their not being in accordance with the regu- lations in force in the Metropolis :— 1. The EDITOR suggests to the Local Police Forces to acquaint any person who may apply to them for the return of money forwarded to the above- named Syndicate, that the principal agents in the business are in custody on a charge of fraud, and nothing can be done in the matter uatil the conclusion of the case. A butler; supposed to be a Scotsman. 2— J Division.— For burglary and stealing a quantity of postage stamps ; 100 post- cards ; 1 pair silver- plated shell pattern sugar- tongs ; 1 cream and pink handkerchief — THOMAS TEECE, alias LAMBLE, and CURLY THE BARMAN, age 23, height 5 ft. 7 in., complexion fresh, hair ( curly), slight moustache, and eyes dark, " G. Vale," bust of woman, anchor and roses, on right forearm, ship iu full sail, " G. Burgess," " T. S.," sailor, cannon, and flag left forearm; dress, dark jacket and vest, lavender stripe trousers, brown stripe muffler, black felt hat, brown shoes.— CHARLES TEECE, alias WRIGHT, and PILL, age 30, height 5 ft, 0 in., complexion sallow, hair and slight moustache light, eyes dark brown ; dress, brown overcoat, dark tweed suit, black felt hat, lace boots. Was sentenced to 9 months imprisonment at Norwich Quarter Sessions, 28th June, 1893, for housebreaking at East Doreham. Both are natives of Buckhurst Hill, Essex. 3.— J Division. — For stealing, 31st January, 1895— 1 lady's silver geneva watch, white dial, with spray of flowers thereon, chased back; 1 lady's gold neckchain, flat link pattern, with oblong gold locket attached— HOWARD ST. CLIVE NETH- ERSOLE, sge 42, height 5 ft. 6 in., stout build, complexion, hair, heavy moustache, and eyes dark, near sighted; dress, dark blue o\ erjoat, velvet collar and cuffs, black coat and vest, light trousers, low shoes, black hard felt hat. Identical with Howard Nethersole, alias Lester and Clyde, sentenced to 12 months imprisonment at Central Criminal Court, 5th January, 1884, for fraud by advertising cutlery in " The Exchange and Mart," and to 20 months imprisonment at Middlesex Sessions, 12th May, 1885, for fraud. May be found hawking cutlery in the provinces. 4.— V Division.— For embezzlement — WIL- LIAM HARRIS, age 35, height 5 ft. 9 or 10 in., complexion fresh, hair ( bald on top), and moustache light; dress, blue melton overcoat, dark tweed suit, brown cloth cap. Supposed native of Portsmouth. Has served 12 years in the Royal Irish Lancers, and is now a Serjeant in the East Surrey Militia Regi- ment. Warrant issued. DENBIGHSHIRE. 9.— Wrexham ( County).— For obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences.— BARNY- CROFT, age 25, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 in., slight build, complexion pale, thin face, hair light, clean shaved, of good address; dress, brown check mackintosh with sleeves and cape, light covert coat, light grey suit, thick plaid stockings, sometimes worn over trousers to give them the appearance of knicker- bockers, white silk tie, black felt hat, lining torn, as if to destroy name, brown boots, have been blacked. He takes lodgings at an hotel or country ian, for himself and two or three others ( who are to arrive in three or four days' time), representing himself as an ordnance surveyor. He passes his time comic sketching, mostly with the children of the house, and on the third or fourth morning informs the landlord that he is going to the station to meet his friends, and absconds. Smart appearance. A saddler; native of Torquay ; knows Somerset and Dorset well. Pre- viously convicted of a similar offence at Wellington. Warrant issued. FLINTSHIRE. 12 — Flint ( County).— For stealing, 25th nit., a pair of boots, and £ 2 12s., also for obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences — RICHARD TATE, age 25 to 27, height 5 ft. 8 or 10 in., complexi in fresh, hair dark brown, clean shaved; dress, light bvown cloth coat, light brown trousers, dark stock- ings, brown gaiters, light cap, lace boots, newly soled and toe- capped. He sometimes turns up trousers to resemble knickerbockers. May have with him a blue Skye terrier dog weariDg a brass cpilar. Booked from Chester to Birkenhead by 11.40 a. m. train, 25th ult. He represents himself as a Government Sar- veyor, and takes lodgings at an hotel, or private lodging house, and also secures lodgings for three men who are to follow him in a day or two. Santenced at Liverpool, 3rd February, 1881, to 10 years penal servitude for arson. II 148. This man frequents workhouses, and is said to be well known at Ormskirk, Wigan, Rishton, and Accrington. MONMOUTHSHIRE. 21.— Newport ( Borough) — Portrait and de- scription of HERMANN HENRI KORN, or CORN, whose apprehension is sought for stealing, on 26th nit., a 9- ct. gold albert chain, long link pattern, gold Maltese cross pendant with red stone in centre, which opens, and has the photo of a lady inside— Age 22, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 in., complexion dark, hair ( curly) black, slight dark moustache, receding chit, near- sighted and wears eyeglasses, leans forward when walking ; dress, double breasted black cheviot overcoat, grey check coat and vest, grey tweed trousers, black bowler hat. lace boots; carried a small hand- bag and a parcel. A native of Altona, Hamburg. Is well educated, and speaks English well. Has been empioyed as a photo- grapher's canvasser and for an insurance company. He left London on 26th ult. NORFOLK. 22.— North Walsham ( County).— For steal- ing, 18th ult., at Cromer, a lady's long gold chain, has been recently repaired and gold- washed ; 1 gold locket with blue enamelled cross in centre ; a gentle- man's dark blue neckerchief with red stripes ; and £ 7 — FREDERICK PHILIPS, age 25, height 5 ft. 8 in., complexion fresh, hair and eyes dark brown, short dark moustache, large nose, scar on second joint of right thumb; dress, dark grey over- coat, short dark jacket with silk facings, grey trousers and vest, black hard felt hat, side- spring boots, patent leather gaiters. Carried a dark hand- bag covered with American cloth, and a small port- manteau covered with imitation leather. A stone- mason ; native of Barnstaple. He takes lodgings, stating that he is employed by some firm in the neighbourhood, and after stealing any articles of value he can find, absconds. Was convicted of larceny at Newport, in December, 1891, at Penarth, in March, 1892, and at West London Police Court, in April, 1892. Photograph will be forwarded on application. Warrant issued. Is an expert shopbreaker, and has been convicted of that offence and for assaulting police at West Hartle- pool, Newcastle- on- Tyne, Leeds, ard Durham. A cabinetmaker, but states he is a comic gymnast. Is well known in the North of England. He travelled the country with a women named JENNY FAIRWEATHER, BROOKE, or JEANETTE CRICHTON, who is remanded in custody, and who has on several occasions been in custody with the man wanted. A native of Wednesbury. Accompanied by Alfred Wilson, age 24, height about 5 ft. 7 in., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, slight dark moustache; dress, short double- breasted overcoat, dark mixture trousers and vest. Is accompanied by two boyB and three girls, ages from 16 to years. Left Liverpool, on 14th ult., for Bootle. Was convicted in October, 1891, at Nottingham, for cruelty to a child. Warrant issued. Will probably attach himself to a religious body, such as the Salvation or Church Armies. A tailor; native of Shap, Westmorland, but resided for some years past at Preston. Warrant issued.
