All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in t' -— winn when making the arrest. %* Should irregularities arise in tho. information the mistake cannot be rectified? i Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal'lrish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, < fcc., and of any circumstances rendering tho supply of the " 1 fue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT, ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY, Antrim* Description of tho undernamed Young Offender, who, on the 17th June, 1893, absconded from the Mnlone Reformatory School, at Belfast s— JOHN M'KINNON, No. 620, 17 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, stout make, fresh complexion, dark red hair, brown eyes, regular nose, regular mouth, round visage; formerly belonged to Ballymacarett; born at Barrow- in- Furness; parents reside at 151 Mountpottinger- road, Bridge End, Belfast; cut- mark on left check. The School Dress, all with Reformatory Stamp consists of:— Moleskin trowsers and vest, and laced Blucher boots, No. 25. Uncle James O'Hara lives in Little Patrick- street, Belfast. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 21st June, 1893. C.) tsmu. < Description of JAMES CORRIGAN, native of Gortamoan, county Fermanagh, who stands charged with having, on the 22nd April, 1893, at Blacklion, in the barony of Tullyhaw, parish of Killinagh, seriously assaulted one William Armstrong, by striking him with stick on the head:— Gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, long thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 17 or 18 years of age, light fair hair; wore a tweed cap, dark jacket, gray tweed knickerbockers, and long brown stocking; is a farmer's son. Clare, Description of CHARLES O'HALLORAN, sup- posed native of county Galway, who stands charged with having, on the 29th April, 1893, in the barony of Tulla Upper, " parish of Tomgraney, stolen from the dwelling- house of Catherine Murphy, Tomgraney:— A gold cross, about 2 inches long ; a gold ring, set in ruby stones ; a heart - shaped medallion, and some white handkerchiefs, marked H. Hogan ; all value for about £ 5 :— Good- looking, handsome face, speaks with an English accent; long nose, fair complexion, round face, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, rather fair hair; wore a light- coloured peak cap, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; smart address; carries a brown walking stick. It is believed he has recently returned from England ; looks like a clerk. Killaloe, 7th May, 1893. ( 2233Q c.— 12911.) Description of a WOMAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 12tli April, l893, in the barony ot Bunratty Lower, Kerry. Description of MARTIN LEARY, of no fixed residence, who stands charged with having, on the 5th day of June, 1893, in the barony of Magunihy, parish of Kilcredane, stolen from the lands of Leamnaguila, a goat, the. property of one John Foley:— Round face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 50 years of age, dark curly hair, and sandy moustachc ; wore a dark brown hat, dark brown coat, and corduroy trowsers; is a pedlar; plays on a tin whistle. Is accompanied by a woman and two children. A Warrant has been issued, and is in the hands of the District Inspector, Killarney. Killarney, 20th June, 1893. ( 23131 c.— 14255.) DAVIS, who stands charged with having, on the 14th June, 1893, in the barony of Kilcullen, parish of Gilltown, and townland of Grangebeg, robbed Peter Keogh of two five pound notes, one single note, and fourteen shillings and six pence in silver:— Down- looking appearance, swag- gering gait, dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, JUKE 23, 1893. thin face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard hat, long top coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a notorious pickpocket and frequents fairs and races. ( 23084 c.— 14170). ^ Description of TWO TRAMPS, names and residences unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 6th day of June, 1893, in the barony of Offaly East, parish of Walterstown, robbed one Martin Byrne of £ 9 15s. 1. Dark complexion, stout make, 6 feet high, about 30 years of age, dark hair, short black beard ; wore a dark cap, glazed peak, gray coat and trowsers; is a tramp- 2. Sandy complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 5 . inches high, about 35 years of age, sandy hair, bow legged; wore a soft hat, dark short coat, moleskin trowsers ; is a tramp. Description of a MAN, unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd May, 1893, in the barony of East Offally, parish of Ballysax, attempted to indecently assault one " Violet J. Rogers :— Blotches on face ; small gray eyes, large flat nose, shaved face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, brown hair; wore a dark brown coat, trowsers, and vest. Athy, 2nd June, 1893. SARSFIELD BURKE ( assault on the Police), not arrested, Hue- and- Cry, 18th November, 1892. ( 19297 c.— 6972.) King's. Description of the undernamed Young Offender, who, on the 15th June, 1893, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School, at King's county;—. NICHOLAS SULLIVAN, No. 1,242, 18^ years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, medium make, sallow complexion, dark hair, gray eyes, small nose, small mouth, oval visage; formerly belonged to Dublin ; parents reside at 14, Brown- street, Dublin; pock marked, and slight scar on left forehead. The dress consists of:— Moleskin trowsers, blue serge coat and vest, blue and white check shirt, white scarf, light- coloured tweed cap, Blucher boots; all clothing new, except trowsers. Boy will stay in Dublin, or enlist. He stated that he would join the Dublin Fusiliers. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 19th June, 1893. JOSEPH O'REILLY ( embezzlement), Hue- ant- Cry, 30th May, not arrested. ( 21596 c.— 11493). WILLIAM FITZGERALD ( charged with murder) Hue- and- Cry, 12th May, has not been arrested. ( 98360 c.— 86735. Londonderry. JAMES M'PEAKE ( serious assault), described in issue of 7th April, not arrested. ( 19864 c 8141). hair, hanging loose behind; wore an old dress, dark colour, and an old black shawl having Paisley stripe, strong laced- up boots; is a tramp, but looks like a servant. This woman said she was from outside Castlerea, and again from Gort and Williamstown, and that her husband was John Kenny, a gambler at races, & c. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, Boyle. . Description of JOHN MALOUGHNEY, native of Curreeney, who stands charged with having, on the night of 1st June, 1893, in the barony of Upper Ormond, parish of Annaghmeadle, attempted to commit a rape on Norah Butler, aged about 35 years:— High- cheek bones, prominent chin, gray or blue eyes, long thin nose, fair complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a brown tweed cap, hrown tweed coat, light tweed trowsers, and tweed vest; is a servant boy. Warrant for his arrest in the hands of the Royal Irish Constabulary at Templederry. Templemore, 10th June, 1893. ( 22940 c.— 13940.) Description of WILLIAM DWYER ( mother's surname Hayes), native of Gortahomogue, who stands charged with having, on the 19th day of May, 1893, in the barony of Kilnemanagh Upper, parish of Toem, seriously assaulted James Dwyer, of Gortahamogue, by striking him on the head with a spade, fracturing his skull, thereby placing his. life in danger :— May have cut marks on head and face; gray or blue eyes, regular nose, sandy complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 45 or 50 years of age, sandy whiskers and moustache ; wore a low soft black hat, gray frieze coat, and corduroy trowsers ; is a farmer. Description of JAMES COFFEY, native of Knockeraville, county Westmeath, who stands charged with having, on the night of 19th or morning of 20th April, 1893, in the barony of Moyashel and Maghera- dermon, parish of Dysart, stolen 3 sheep and 3 lambs:— Greatly bow- legged, result of being broken when training horses; gray or blue eyes, regular nose rather sharp, fair complexion, thin face, medium make, about 5 feet 5 inches high, between 26 and 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray tight coat, tight fitting trowsers, black woollen cardigan jacket under his coat, heavy brass watch chain, will probably be found about horse training stables; is a horse trainer and groom. Warrant for his arrest has been issued and is in the hands of the District Inspector, Mullingar. Mullingar, 5th May, 1983. ( 2231 c 12891.) duBLIN METROPOLITAN FOLIOS. g Division. Particulars relative to convict THOMAS LOVE, c. 20, convicted at Enniskillen, county Fermanagh, at Quarter Sessions, on 18th November, ] 885, for larceny — two cases— and previous conviction, and sentenced to 10 j ears' penal servitude :— 50 years of age, single, is a stonecutter, born in Drumcoolan, Enniskillen, resided before conviction in Enniskillen where his friends reside; dark brown hair turning gray, brown eyes, black eyebrows turning gray, large nose, small mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, slight make, 5 feet I If inches high ; right leg ulcerated at shin, bald on top of head. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on licence, 23rd May, 1893. He recently left his residence, 14, Bride- street, Dublin, without notifying to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 34 & 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 8th June, 1893. ( 559 H. C.) Particulars relative to convict JAMES M'BRIDE, c 400, convicted at Naas, county Kildare, at Assizes, on 15th July, 1890, for larceny from person and former conviction, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude, afterwards reduced to 3 years' penal servitude:— 22 years of age on conviction, single, is a dealer; born at Belfast, no fixed residence before conviction; dark brown hair, gray eyes, dark brown eyebrows, long nose, regular mouth, fresh com- plexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high; cut- mark on top of head, J. M'B., on left wrist, ulcer marks back of right leg, large dent on right shin. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on licence, 22nd May, 1893. He recently lefthis residence, 46, Church- street, Dublin, without notifying to Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 8th June, 1893. ( 559 H. C.) Particulars relative to convict MICHAEL M'GOLDRICK, c 21, convicted at Enniskillen, county Fermanagh, at Quarter Sessions, on 19th November, 1885, for larceny and previous conviction, and sentenced to ten years' penal servitude:— 60 years of age on conviction, married, is a dealer; born at Enniskillen ; resided before conviction at Enniskillen, where his friends reside; dark brown hair, brown eyes, dark brown eyebrows, small nose, small mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high; ruptured left side, wears a truss, cut- scar on bridge of nose and on upper lip. This man was released on licence from Maryboro' Prison, 19th May, 1893, and stated he was going to Sligo. He was arrested on same date at Athlone on a charge of drunkenness, and discharged on condition of at once leaving the town. He has not since reported himself, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 31st May, 1893. ( 557 H. C.) Particulars relative to English Convict MICHAEL DOODY, No. 294, convicted at Malta, at a Court Martial, on 10th May, 1887, for an attempt to commit sodomy, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude :— 23 years of age on conviction, is a soldier; dark brown hair, gray eyes, 5 feet 7 inches high; two scars on back of head, mark on top of nose, right side, scar on cheek and on first finger, also on knuckle of second finger and on buttock; wore all his beard, which may now be shaved off. This man was released on licence from Portsmouth Prison, 29th October, 1892. He left his residence, 36, Nicholas- street, Dublin, without reporting to police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 18th May, 1893. ( 555 H. C.) Description of JOSEPH M'DONNELL, who was convicted of rape, at the Mayo Assizes, on 10th of July, 1889, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude, and who is now wanted on Warrant, in consequence of the licence granted to him on 1st April, 1893, for the unexpired term of said sentence having been revoked:— He is 26 years old, 5 feet 6^ inches high, brown hair, blue eyes, brown eyebrows, regular nose and mouth, pale complexion, oval visage, proportionate make; cut on forehead and on right side of top of head, mole and scar on chin, large scar on right wrist, flesh- mark on left wrist; is a blacksmith, and a native Qf Claremorris, county Mayo. Warrant in the hands of Chief Inspector COOPER, Dublin Metro- politan Police. Detective Department, 9th May, 1893. ( 553 H. C.) meath. Description of GERALD FITZGERALD, alias WILLIAM ARMIT, native of county Meath, who stands charged on remand with having, on the 14th June, 1893, in the barony of Dunboyne, parish of Dunboyne, fraudulently endeavoured to obtain goods and money on a forged cheque, drawn in the name of " Cox & Co., Army Bankers, Charing- cross, London":— Gentlemanly appearance, bald on top of head; gray eyes, regular nose, florid complexion, oval face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 46 years of age, gray hair; wore a dark hard hat, dark coat, tweed trowsers, and dark vest. This man falsely represented himself as a Sergeant- Major of Royal Engineers, quartered at Chatham, and may have committed similar offences elsewhere. Dunshaughlin, 18th June, 1893. Description of MARY KENNY, who stands charged with having, on the 14th June, 1893, in the barony of Boyle, parish of Boyle, abandoned her infant child under 2 years of age, whereby its life was endangered:— Gray eyes, flat cocked nose, sallow complexion, short broad face, medium make, about 5 feet high, about 26 or 27 years of age, short black Wicklow. Description of the undernamed Young Offender, who, on the 7th June, 1893, absconded from the Glencree Reformatory School, at county Wicklow: RICHARD CORBALLY, 2,484, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches or 5 feet 6 inches high, very stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, oval or round visage; formerly belonged to Firhouse, county Dublin; mother resides at Roundtown. The School Dress, all with the Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Moleskin trowsers and corduroy jacket, cloth cap ( Scotch make), and strong nailed boots, No. 2,484. It appears that the boy got a change of clothes at Firhouse, and he is now dressed in a long dark coat, dark trowsers, and old felt hat. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 8th June, 1893. ( 560 H. C.) Young Offender THOMAS PERRY, described in Hue- and- Cry, 30th May, not arrested. ( 543 H. C.) THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, JUNE 2 3 , 1893. Particulars relative to convict THOMAS BURKE, \ c 313, convicted at Limerick at County Quarter Sessions, on £ th April, 1889, for breaking into a shop and stealing, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude, and 2 years' police supervision :— 53 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer; born in Dublin; resided before conviction in Limerick; dark brown hair, blue eyes, light brown eyebrows, large nose, regular month, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high; cuts on head, cross and dot on back of right wrist, varicose veins in right leg. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on 4th January, 1893, and went to Cork. He left his residence, 2, Old George's- street, in that city, on 6th ult., without reporting to Royal Irish Constabulary, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 34 and 36 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 6, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 13th March, 1893. ( 542 H. 0.) SCOTCH POLICE. Description of CHARLES FLUDGATE, who stands charged with stealing, on S9th ult., a horse, saddle, and bridle from Portobello Barracks, Dublin, the property of the Commander- in- Chief of Her Majesty's Forces t— He is 24 years old, 6 feet 4 Inches high., medium make, dark hair and complexion, shaved face except small dark moustache; when last seen was dressed in a brown jerry hat, a light colour check lounge suit, and black cloth top eoat; is an Army Reservist and a native of Dublin. Warrant in the hands of the Chief Superintendent, Dublin Castle. ( 523 H. C.) ENGLISH POLICE. Cheshire. THREE MEN charged with robbery of jewellery, and described in issue of 18th April, not arrested. f545 H. C. V essex. Description of JOSEPH RAWLINGS, native of Billericay, Essex, late Bethnal Green, London, wanted at Brentwood, Essex, for stealing a horse, cart, and a aet of harness ( recovered), at South Weald, on the 17th March, 1893 :- Bald top of head, scar left cheek, scar left side of neck, right side large scar inside leg from fracture, red mole spine; 70 years of age, very active of his age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh com- plexion, stout build, gray hair, generally dyed very dark, blue bushy eyebrows; wore a round hard felt hat and dark clothes. He is now supposed to be travelling in Ireland with low horse dealers. War- rant issued. Information to Superintendent ALLEN, Brentwood, Essex. 14th April, 1893. ( 550 H. c.) Stirlingshire. AMENDED INFORMATION. . Stolen by means of housebreaking, between 11 P. M. on 16th and 8 A. M. on 17th June, 1893, from a dwell- ing- house in this burgh:— A gent's gold lever centre second stop watch, No. 25,216; a gent's gold double Albert chain, curb pattern; a lady's gold Geneva watch, No. 75,619; a lady's long gold guard chain, snake pattern ; a pair of gold earrings, fuchsia drop pattern; a pair of gent's gold eye- glasses, with small silver chain attached; an opera glass. Wanted for the above theft, a Man who gave the name of GEORGE GRANT, and sometimes WILSON. Stated he was a joiner, and a native of Dunbar, Haddingtonshire. Twenty- six years of age, 5 feet 7 inches in height, dark eyes, dark hair mixed with gray, heavy dark moustache, round face, ordinary make, prominent burn or scrofula mark on left side of face; dressed in a dark brown or blue checked jacket suit, light brown single- peaked cap, elastic sided boots ( block fronts); spoke with a Scotch accent, but appears to have been abroad or in the army ; frequents public houses and associates with prostitutes. The house entered is situated above a public- house, and occupied by the publican, but there is no communication between the shop and house. Entrance was effected by placing a ladder against the front of the building, raising a window, and entering thereby. After securing the above property the thief left by a stair door, which was easily opened from the inside. All the rooms in the house were ransacked, inj three of which five persons were asleep, and it is suspected that chloroform had been used on the inmates, as they slept longer than usual and felt extremely drowsy for several hours. The person above described was several times in said public- house during the week, represent- ing that he was a person of means, and offered to purchase the public- house and property. On making this offer the publican showed him over the premises. No doubt this is the person wanted by the Perthshire Police at Dunblane for house- breaking at Callander Hydropathic on the night of 12th or morning of 13th current, as the most of the property stolen from Callander has been recovered here, and was disposed of by him. Police Officers are requested to make diligent search and inquiry with the view to the recovery of the property, and the apprehension of the thief, and communicate with THOS. C.) — —~ • Wanted for housebreaking, in Stirling Burgh, on the 17th instant:— A MAN about 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches in height, fresh complexion, full round face, dark hair, dark moustache, otherwise shaved; stout made; dressed in a black cord coat, dark vest and trowsers, light muffler, and black felt hat. The above- described broke into a villa about 10.15 p. m. on the above date, in company with another man who is in custody, by inserting a knife between the sashes of the window, removing the snib, raising the lower sash, and entering thereby, 1 Police Officers are requested to make search and inquiry at all likely places with the view to the apprehension of the above- described ( who can be identified), and if found, to wire the Chief Constable. Description of an ass, the property of John Hickey, which was stolen from the lands of Sandylane, parish of Abington, barony of Clanwilliam, on the 1st day of June, 1893 :— A gelding ass, 7 years old, light brown colour, with white spots on head and belly, lobbed ears, average size, hair off left shoulder from friction of collar, and value for about £ 2 10s.
