RECiXTLi A TIOHT8. pff All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant, in their possession when making the arrest. %• Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the « )> olition of Gaols, Stations, < tc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. ( « k) Apprehensions. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY, Antrim. Description of a MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 6th March, 1893, in tie barony of Lower Toonae, parish of Kirkinriola, assaulted and attempted to stab with a knife Rose Gilmer, end threatened to murder her:— Very dary eyes regular nose, dark swarthy complexion, full face, stout r> ake, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 J ears of ape, dark lair, no whiskers or beard, may nave a slight moustache; wore a black greasy cap, dark or black coat, dark trowsers and vest; trade cr occupation unknown; has the appearance of an engiue fitter, mecbanis, or sailor on tramp. Information sworn and warrant in hands cf District Inspector, Ballymena. Ballymena, 6th March, 1893. ( 21220 10717) PATRICK SCULLION, alias JORDAN ( firing at the person), described in Hue- and- Lry of 24th March, cot arrested. ( 19619 7660.) Armagh, Particulars relative to convict HUGH DAILY, c 72, convicted at Armagh at the Assizes, on 14th July, 1886, for manslaughter, and sentenced to penal servitude for life, commuted to 10 years;- 55 years of age on conviction, married, is a labourer, born at Tullykevin, county Armagh, resided before conviction at Blackwater, county Armagh, where his friends reside; gray hair, gray eyes, gray eyebrows, large nose, large mouth, fresh complexion, oval worn visage, medium make, 5 feet inches high ; cut- mark between left thumb and finger, nail of right thumb split, lost some teeth. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison, ' jT^ li July, 1892, on licence." He left Armagh on SSh ult., and has not since been heard of. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 27th April, 1893. ( 551 n. c.) cavan. Description of JANE M'ENROE ( supposed fictitious), native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 22nd day of February, 1893, in the barony of Upper Loughtee, parish of . Urney, abandoned her infant child ( under 2 years), so as to endanger its life:— Sullen appearance; small suken eyes, slightly hocked nose, sallow complexion, long full fsce, stout make, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches higb, about 21 years of age, black hair, with a monkey fringe; wore a black dre « and jacket, with a flowered print jacket underneath, a black hat, with some reddish flowers, and carried an umbrella; supposed to be a farmer's servant. Cavan, 23rd Feb., 1893. ( 21064 10379.) Description of THOMAS DUIGNAN, native of Fatron, Ardlogher, county Cavan, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd January, 1S93, in the barony of Loughtee Lower, parish of Tomregan, caused the death of Ellen M'Kiernan by blows and kicks:— Gray eyes, shoit thick nose, sallow com- plexion, thin face, stout active make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 22 years of age, daik brown hair; wore a peak cap, light coat, light tweer" trowsers and vest; is a labourer. Killeshandra, 11th Jan. 1893, ( 20286 8878.) inscription of WILLIAM HEWITT, Junior ( Mother's surname M'Meikle), native of Drum- connick, Cavan, who stands charged with having, on the 13th December, 1892, in the barony of Upper Loughtee, parish of Urney, stabbed one Moses Rourke with a penknife, and being bound by recognizance to appear at Cavan Petty Sessions on 19th Decem- ber, 1892, has absconded from his bail:— Prominent teeth, square shoulders, active appearance; dark eyes, sliithtl; hooked nose, dark complexion, regular face, slight make, 6 feet 1 inch high, about 28 years of age, dark hair; wore a t lack hard hat, dark coat- trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's SOD. Cavan, 20th Dec., 1892. ( 19816 c.— 8064.) St. Mary's, Youghal, unlawfully deserted and wilfully neglected to maintain his wife and two children, and in consequence thereof they have become destitute and are at present being relieved in the Youghal Union Workhouse:— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, round face, slight make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, between 30 and 35 years of age, fair hair ; wore a cap and shabby suit of tweed. Wears his hair rather long. Shaves all face except small fair moustache. He was seen in Cork on 19th inst., and lived there, previous to his coming to Youghal, in Mary- street and Barrack- street; is a coach painter. Youghal, 22nd April, 1893. ( 22098 c.— 12417.) Down. Licensed Convict JOSEPH KELLY, or CONNOR described in issue of 24th March, not arretted. ( 526 H. C.) Clare. Description of a WOMAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 12th April, 1893, in the barony oi Bunratty Lower, parish of Bunratty, abandoned a male child, aged about 6 months, whereby the life of said child was endangered :— Very freckled face ; blue eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 33 years of age, red hair; wore an old red dress, old gray shawl, no boots; is a tramp. Warrant issued, and in hands of District Inspector at Sixmilebridge. Sixmilebridge, 18th April, 1893. ( 21925 c 12255.) MICHAEL CLUNE ( house- breaking), Hne- and- ( Jry, 2nd Sept., not arrested. ( 16138 c.— 1869.) Cork. Description of LAWRENCE KIELY, native place I unknown, who stands charged with having, on or about | 8th April, 1893, in the barony of Imokilly, parish of Dublin. Description of JOSEPH DOREY, native of Naul, county dublin, who stands charged with having, on the 4th April, 1893, in the barony of Rathdown, parish of Taney, escaped from Dundrum Criminal Lunatic Asylum, where he was confined during the pleasure Her Majesty:— Lost some of his front teeth, brRid stooped shoulders, steps short when walk- ing, and turnsy in his toes; high cheek bones, high forehead, shaves face except moustache and side whiskers, which it is likely he will get removed, blue sunken eyes, regular nose, florid complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 35 years of age, light flaxen hair; wore a black morning coat, bljck trowsers and vest, all of same material, descrip- tion of hat not known ; is a coachman. Dorey was indicted for the murder of his wife at Naul, but deemed to be of unsound mind, he was committed to this Asylum. Dundrum, 13th April, 1893. ( 21881 c— 12072). PATRICK LAWLESS ( attempted rape), described in issue of 7th April, not arrested. ( 19718 c.— 7860). Fermanagh. Information required concerning THOMAS MARTIN, native place unknown, who stands charged with bavmsr, on tbe 21st December, 1892, in the barony ot Magheraboy, parish of Inishmacsaint, ob- tained goods by false pretences from Janes Earls, Slavin, Belleek. It is supposed that he has committed other similar offences. His " modus operandi" is to get into correspondence with poultry and game dealers, Ac., and obtain large consignments of goods, for which he cannot pay, being an undischarged bankrupt. He is at present undergoing a term of imprisonment in England for a similar offance; is a commission agent. Information sworn and Warrant issued. Derrygonnelly, 8th Mar., 1893. ( 2i352c— 11014.) Description of MICHAEL READE, native of Kilmoganny, who stands charged with having, on the 8th Jnne, 1892, in the barony of Municipal Borough, parish of St. Mary's, stolen a silver Geneva watch from one James Blanchford. The watsh was found on the accused when arrested, and he was bound by recognizance to appear at Thomastown Petty Sessions on 7th March, If- 93, but tailed to appearand ha absconded:— Dark brown eyes, reguiar nose, pah complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6J inches high, about 20 or 21 yean of age, dark hair, no bnard or whiskers; wore a tweed cap, tweed coat, light tweed trowsers and v « 3t, is good looking and of respectable appaarance; is a groom or stableboy. Description of JAMES CASSERLY, native of Corraniary, who stands charged with having, on the 24tli April, 1893, in the barony of Carrigallen, parish of Cloone, seriously assaulted Francis Kilkenny, of Kilafee, by striking him - with a spade, and endanger- ing his life :— Has a fresh cut on side of head ; shaves upper lip ; wears all his beard which is brown; gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a black soft felt hat, brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer. Description of JOSEPH O'REILLY, native of Limerick City, who stands charged with having, on the 20th March, 1892, in the borough of Limerick, parish of St. Michael's, embezzled the sum of £ 20 and upwards, the property of his employer, Mr. John Murphy :— Heavy dark brown moustache, long feet, respectable looking, dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, slight make, 6 feet high, about 26 years of age, dark brown hair ; wore a tweed sack- coat, striped trowsers, tweed vest; is an assistant goods agent. Warrant for his arrest in the hands of the Head Constable at William- street, Limerick. Limerick, 28th March, 1893. ( 21596 11493.) Description of JOHN M'NALLY ( mother's sur- name M'Quaid), native of Ohill, who stands charged with having, on the 6th December, 1892, in the baron> of Longford, parish of Killoe, seriously assaulted John Corrigan, of Melkagh, by stabbing him with a knife:— Square broad shoulders, swaggering gait, gene- rally walks with his hands in his pockets; gray or blue eyes, long nose, pale complexion, round face, stout make, about 5 feet 9 inches high, about 27 years of age fair hair; wore a black cap, dark coat, trow- sers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Description of PATRICK TUITE, native of county Meath, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd April, 1893, in the barony of Lower Deece, parish of Knockmark, stolen from a dwelling, one ten pound and one five pound note ( numbers not known or bank from which issued), three sovereigns and ten shillings in silver :— Neglected appearance, keeps his eyes shut when speaking, blue or gray eyes, regular nose, red complexion, small face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 65 or 70 years of age, gray beard whiskers and moustache cut short, long gray hair; wore a corduroy jacket over brown drab coat, corduroy trowsers, no vest; is a tramp labourer. Warrant issued. Dunshaughlin, 4th April, 1893. ( 21719c 11730). Tlpperary. Description of PATRICK DALY, no fixed place, who stands charged with having, on the 13th day of March, 1893, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Tipperary, failed to notify to the police at Tipperary his change of residence, being a convict on ticket of leave:— Cut mark front of head and left side of forehead, lost a front upper tooth, kick mark on left shin; gray eyes, long slight hooked nose, fresh com- plexion, oval face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 51 years of age, brown hair; wore a hard round jerry hat, gray tweed coat, tweed trowsers, and twe'ed vest; is a labourer. Tipperary, 27th March, 1893. ( 546 H. C.) Description of Gunner JAMES MORRISSEY, No. 95238, a deserter or abser tee without leave from 3rd Sub- Depot, Co. So. D. R. A:— 24^ years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, dark btown hair, gray eyes; date and place of desertion cr absence, 14th February, 1893, at Templemore; date and place of enlistment, 21st January, 1893, at Templemore; born in the parish of Saint Catherine's, Dublin; roo'e undar right ear; is a groom; dressed in regimentals. Description of MARY MOLONEY, native of county Limerick, who stands charged with having, on the 28th January, 1898, at Ballybane, in the barony of Kilnamanagh Upper, parish of Toem, stolen a purse bolonging to Alice Lloyd, containing one pound and ten shillings, also with obtaining goods by falsa pretences:— Prominent front teeth, slight space between them, lisps when speaking and generally laughs when spoken to; dark eyes; swarthy com- plexion : medium mat e ; 5 feet high ; about 35 years of age s black hair, curly in front; wore an old black dress, old black shawl, laced boots, and wore a neck- lace with beads 5 tramp and servant girl. Description of JOHN RYAN " PLUNKHAM" ( Mother's surname Ryan, " Plunger"), native of Curraghmore, who stands charged w. th having, on the 30th December, 1892, in the barony of Owney and Arra, parish of Kiilmastulla, fired at the person of Martin Troy:— Has marks of old cuts on his hsad; is good looking ; prominent gray eyes, regular nose, fresb complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 26 years of age, fair hair; wore a hard hat, snuff coloured tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Tyrone, Description of JAMES COLLINS, alias BEATTY, supposed to be a native of Glasgow, who stands charged with having, on the 15th December, 1892, in the barony of Strabane Upper, parish of Badoney Lower, unlawfully stolen £ 17, in single notes, and a small single- barrelled pistol from the house of one Daniel M'Goldrick ( small farmer), with whom he was a hired servant:— Two upper front teeth black, brown eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, soft white face, slight make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 16 years of age, very black hair ; wore a two- peaked whitish cap, dark sack coat and old dark trowsers, patched on seat with corduroy ; is a farm servant. Description c. f PATRICK MEENAN ( mother's surname M'Court), native of Aldrnmmond, who stands charged with having, on the 8th December, 1895?, in the barony of Strabar. e Upper, parish ot Cappagh, unlawfully fired a gun at Andrew Wesson, a game- keeper to Sir William M'Mahon:— Gray or bltte eyes, regnlar nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a black peak cap, dark coat, gray trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son and labourer. ( Warrant in the hands of A. S. Munn, Royal Irish Constabulary, Mountfield. for his arrest. ; Newtownstewart, 10th December, 18^ 2. 09744 7<? n*.) Wicklow. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 19th March, 1893, absconded from the St Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow : OWEN REILLY, No. 2,339, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches or 5 feet 6 inches high, stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, round visage ; formerly belonged to Santry, county Dublin ; his parents are dead ; lost first joint of little finger of left hand, and has tattoo marks on his arms. The School dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, con- sists of:— Moleskin trowsers and vest, long frieze coat, cloth cap ( Scotch make), strong nailed boots, No. 2,339. He will endeavour to leave the country and enlist in the army as he did whilst away as an absconder in 1891. Some time ago his brother, William, resided at Cloghran, county Dublin, and his brother James at 35, Commons- street, Dublin. He has a sister in High- park Reformatory, Drumcondra. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray tha expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 20th March, 1893. ( 543 H. C.) Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 19th March, ) 893, absconded from the Saint Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow:— s » . THOMAS PERRY, No. 2,441, about 19 or 2< y years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, stout make, fair complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, large nose, ordinary mouth, oval or round visage, and rather sour- looking; formerly belonged to 80, . Jervis- street, Dublin ; mother and brother reside at 57, Great Strand- street, Dublin; " T" and " J. P." tattooed on right forearm. The School dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Moleskin trowsers and vest, cloth cap ( Scotch make), strong nailed boots, No. 2,441. This boy worked as a shoemaker for some time in Skerries, county Dublin. He will endeavour to leave the country and probably to enlist, if he cannot get work at the shoemaking. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arretted, to the nearest Justice, on remand, aad will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 21th March, 1893. ( 543 H. C.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN FOLIOS. G Division. Particulars relative to convict GEORGE CAMPBELL, otherwise SAMUEL ROBINSON, c 55, convicted at Downpatrick, county Down, at Assizes, on 13th March, 1886, for larceny and previoua conviction, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude, and 851 days of a former sentence:— 55 years of age, married, is a saddler, born in Larne, his friends reside near Larne; brown hair tcroing gray, gray eyes, dark brown eyebrows, large hooked noso, large mouth, fresh complexion, broad visage, etout make, 5 feet 5 inches high; cut- mark on bail of left thumb, lost nearly all front teeth. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on 6th inst., and reported himself to tbe Dublin Metro- politan Police. He stated he woald return and notify his residence, but he has not done so, and bis present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 13th March, 1893. ( 542 H. C.) Particulars relative to convict THOMAS BURKE, c 313, convicted at Limerick at County Quarter Sessions, on fth April, t889, for breaking into a shop and stealing, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude, and 2 jeurs' police supervision:— 53 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer; born in Dublin;. resided before corviction in Limerick; dark brown hair, blue eyes, light brown eyebrows, large nose, regular month, fresh . complexion, oval vi « age, meiium make, 5 feet 10 inches high; cuts on head, cross and dot on back of right wrist, varicose veins in right lag. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on 4th January, 1893, and went to Cork. He left his residence, 2, Old George's street, in that city, on 6th ult., without reporting to Royal Irish Constabulary, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event ef his arrest he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vie., cap. 112, sec, 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 13th March, 1893. ( 542 H. a.) Description of CHARLES FLUDGATE, who stands charged with stealing, on SSth ult., a horse, saddle, and bridle from Portobello Barracks, Dublin, the property of the Commander- in- Chiei of Her Majesty's Forces :— He is 24 years old, 6 feet 4 inches high, medium make, dark hair and complexion, shaved face except small dark moustache $ when last seen was dressed in a brown jerry hat, a light colour check lounge suit, and black cloth top eoat; is an Army Reservist and a native of Dublin. Warrant in the hands of the Chief Scperintendent, Dublin Castle. ( 523 H. C.) ENGLISH POLICE Cheshire. THREE MEN charged with robbery of jewellery, and described in issue of 18th April, not arrested. Description of JOSEPH RAWLINGS, native of Billericay, Essex, late Bethnal Green, London, wanted at Brentwood, Essex, for stealing a horse, cart, and a THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HTTE- AHD- CRY, APRIL 28, 1893e s get of harness ( recovered), at South Weald, on the 17th March, 1893 :— Bald top of head, scar left cheek, scar left side of neck, right side large scar inside leg from fracture, red mole spine; 70 years of age, very active of his age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh com- plexion, stout build, gray hair, generally dyed very dark, blue bushy eyebrows; wore a round hard felt hat and dark clothes. He is now supposed to be travelling in Ireland with low horse dealers. War- rant issued. Information to Superintendent ALLEN, Brentwood, Essex. 14th April, 1893. ( 550 H. c.) Description of CHARLES KUBLER, a German, who is charged under the Merchandise Marks' Act:— About 55 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, medium complexion, light brown hair turning gray, gray eyes ; stout and broad shoulders, extra large square looking head, full beard and moustache sandy inclined, always wears eye- glasses, inclined to be bow- legged, speaks fairly good English, with slight German accent, is quickly excited ; wore a half- ball felt hat, with wider rim than usually worn, dark overcoat and trowsers. N. 249), native " of Longton, who stands charged with having failed to report himself, being a convict on licence, he having been liberated from Borstal Convict Prison on the 20th March, 1893 :— Nose inclines * o right, hair thin top of head, scar centre of forehead, left eye weak, mole left shoulder, mole left side ribs, mole left buttock, scar between thumb and finger and top of first finger right hand, cut on each eyebrow, cut on upper left arm, 42 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyes. Particulars of JOHN CALLAGHAN ( name supposed fictitioas), who is in custody for makirg a false statement to enlist in army, sentenced to 1 mcnth hard labour, previously convicted for housebreaking, Lewts Quarter Sessions, 1892,. and sentenced to 6 month', suppose: wanted for similar offences: — Native of Birr, Ireland, 19 years of age, but looks older, 6 feet high, dark complexion, clean shaved, dark brown hair, brown eyes, scttr oa right side of top lip, scar on centre of top lip, tattooed violet outside right forearm, J. M., 2 dots inside right forearm, flag outside left forearm; dressed in a light cloth peak cap, long thin light coat, light tweed trow< ers, laced boots, all much worn ; is a labourer. ODBERT, Chemist's Assist- ant, who absconded from his employment on the 24th, stealing £ 10, the moneys of his master:— Age 23, height 5 feet 11 inches, pale complexion, thin face, blue eyes, hair dark brown, small dark moustache cut short to lip, little side whiskers, slight build; walks erect having been in the Army, which be may again join ; dressed in blue serge sac coat, dark trowsers, and vest with wide opening, wore a white muffler, but no overcoat, black bowler hat, and patent leather shoes; speaks with a strong Irish accent; has been in the service of Mr. Walsh, Chemist, 30, Westmoreland- street, Dublin, and Mr. Baker, 174, Victoria- street, London. Description of SIDNEY PHILIP POUND, who is charged with obtaining the sum of £ 3,000 by means of forged Banker's cheques:— 32 years of age, looks younger, about 5 feet high, rather sallow com- plexion, dark hair, clean shaven, longish prominent nose, thin build; stylishly dressed, wearing gaiters, large collar, and cuff's, etc. Warrant issued.
