RECRULATIOKTS. | f All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. *,* Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, ifcc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry" no longer necessary. ( ei) Apprehensions. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY, Antrim. Description of a MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 6th March, 1893, in tie barony of Lower Toocse, parish of Kirkinriola, assaulted and attempted to stab with a knife Rose Gilmer, and threatened to murder her:— Very dary eyes, regular nose, dark swarthy complexion, full face, stout n ake, 5 feet 6 inches high, about SO years of age, dark hair, no whiskers or beard, may have a slight moustache; wore a black greasy cap, dark or black coat, dark trowsers and vest; trade cr occupation unknown; has the appearance of an engine fitter, mechanic, or sailor on tramp. Information sworn end wariant in hands of District Inspector, Bally mena. Ballymena, 6th March, 1893. ( 21220 c.— 10717). Description ot PATRICK SCULLION, alias JORDAN ( mother's surname Jordan), has frieods near Bellaghy, county Londonderry, native of Kiliy- garron, who stands charged with having, on the night of latf December, 1892, in the barony of Lower Toome, parish of Portglenone, fired three shots from a revolver at John Agnaw, with intent to shoot him, and snapped said revolver at Daniel Agnew twice, with intent to shoot him:— Square shoulders, no beard or moustache, appears never to have shaved ; blue eyes, long nose, sallow complexion, thin fiace, slight make, 6 feet 10 inches high, about 22 years of age, brown hair; wore a brown tweed oat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. A Warrant is in the hands of District Inspector S. R. Carter, of Ballymena, for his arrest. Ballymena, 2nd Dee., 1892 ( 19619 o.— 7660.) Cavan. Description of JANE M'ENROE ( supposed ^ flstitiaus), native place unknown, who stands charged ' with having, on ihe 22nd day of February, 1893, in the barony of Upper Loughtee, parish of Urney, abandoned her infant child ( under 2 years), so as to endanger to life:— Sullen appearance ; small fluken eyes, slightly hooked D sallow complexion long full face, stoat make, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches higb, about 21 jears of age, black hair, with a monkey fringe; wore a black dress and jacket, with a flowered print jacket underneath, a black hat, with some reddish flowers, and carried an umbrella; supposed to be a farmer's servant. Cavan, 23rd Feb., 1893. ( 21C64 c— 10- 379.) Description of THOMAS DUIGNAN, native of Fatron, Ardlogher, county Cavan, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd January, 1893, in the barony of Loughtee Lower, parish of Tomregan, caused the death of Ellen M'Kiernan by blows and kicks:— Gray eyes, short thick nose, sallow com- plexion, thin face, stout active make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a peak cap, light coat, light tweed trowsers and vest; is a labourer. Killeshandra, 11th Jan. 1893, ( 20286 C.— 8878.) Inscription of WILLIAM HEWITT, Junior ( Mother's surname M'Meikle), native of Drum- connick, Cavan, who stands charged with having, on the 13th December, 1892, in the barony of Upper Loughtee, parish of Urney, stabbed one Moses Rourke with a penknife, and being bound by recognizance to appear at Cavan Petty Sessions on 19th Decem- ber, 1892, has absconded from his bail:— Prominent teeth, square shoulders, active appearance ; dark eyes, slightly hooksd nose, dark complexion, regular face, slight make, 6 feet 1 inch higb, about 28 years of age, dark hair; were a Mack hard hat, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Cavan, 20th Dec., 1892. ( 19816 c.— 8064.) Clare. MICHAEL KELLY ( carnal knowledge of a girl under 16 years), not arrested, Hue- and- Cry, 28th October, 1892. ( 18867 c 6194.) MICHAEL CLUNE ( house- breaking), Bno- and Cry, 2nd Sept., not arrested. ( 16138 c.— 1869.) July, 1888, for horse stealing and previous conviction, and sentenced to 5 yearn' penal servitude:— 49 years of age on conviction, single, is a fowl dealer; born in Dublin; has no fixed place of residence; his friends reside in London; brown hair, blue eyes, brown eyebrows, large nose, medium mouth, sallow com- > lexion, round visage, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches ligh ; two sailors and two flags on left arm, faded tattooing back of left hand ; yacht and faded tattooing on right arm, wrist, and back of hand. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on - licence, 6th December, 1892, and went to Belfast on the 7th instant, he reported that he was going to reside at Huddersfield, Yorkshire, but he has not reported himself at the latter place, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he shonld be dealt with under 34 and 85 Vic., cap. 118, see. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. ( 526 H. C.) DOWN. Description of ROBERT CREE ( mother's surname Campbell), native of Bangor, who stands charged with having, on tbe night of the 14th January, 1893, in the barony of Lower Castlereagh, parish of Bangor, feloniously and burglariously broken and entered the dwelling- house of Thomas Jamison, and stolen there- from tbe sum of £ 4 10/.:— Tattoo marks on both arms, bracelet tattooed on kit wrist, ring on middle finger of left hand, blue eyes, regular ncse, fresh com piexion, round face, stout moke, 5 feet 10 inches high, about £ 8 years of age, fair bair, shaved all face txoept moustache which is fair; wore a black cap with peak, brown tweed co* t, trowsers, and vest, checked bar in twted, suit somewhat worn ; is a labourer, and served in the | Royal Horse Artillery. Warrant issued for his arrest. Newtownards, 18th Jan., 1893 ( 20402 c.—. 9100). Particulars relative to Convict JOSEPH KELLY, or CONNOR, < fcc., o 254, convicted at Downpatrick, county Down, at the Summer Assize. on the 14th DUBLIN. Description of PATRICK LAWLESS, native of Dermotstown, who stands charged with having, on the 7th day of December, 1892, in the barony of Balrothery East, parish of Balscadden, attempted to commit rape:— Down- looking appearance, large tooth right side of upper jaw; thick nose, pale complexion, broad face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 18 fears of age, very fair hair; wore a gray tweed eap, frlen coat, dark tweed trowsers, and tweed Teat; is a labourer. Warrant issued. Balbriggan, Doc. 9, 1892. ( 1S718 c.— 7860.) Fermanagh. Information required concerning THOMAS MARTIN, native place unknown, who stands charged with havingr, on the 21st December, 1892, in the barony of Magheraboy, parish of Inishmacsaint, ob- tained goods by false pretences from James Earls, Slavin, Belleek. It is supposed that he has committed otber similar offences. His " modus operandi" is to get into correspondence with poultry and game dealers, Ac., and obtain larga consignments of goods, for which he cannot pay, being an undischarged bankrupt. He is at present undergoing a term of imprisonment in England for a similar offence ; is a commission agent. Information sworn and Warrant issued. Derrygonnelly, 8th Mar., 189?. ( 21352 c 11014.) Information wanted concerning B. B. MURPHY, Liverpool, Commission Aged, trading under the name > f " R. B. Murphy and Sons," for sale of butter, eggs be., arrested and remanded in Enniskillen, on tae charge of obtaining goods by false pretences. Description of PATRICK SULLIVAN ( mother's surname Nano Sullivan), native of Derrygarrive, who stands charged with having, on the night of the THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, MARCH 24, 1893. 27th February, 1893, in the barony of Glanerough, parish of Kennare, unlawfully assaulted Timothy Cronni, ard endangered his life by striking him on the fcrehead with a stone, which inflicted a dangerous wound:— Blue eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, short round fa< Jte, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches kigh, about 22 je ws of age, da- k bair, small dark moustache} woro a Eoft black jerry hat, dark twee! frees ccat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son, Kenmare, let March, 1893. Derciiption of MICHAEL READE, native of Kihnoganny, who stands charged with having, on the 8th June, 1892, in tbe barony of Municipal Borough, psiish of St. Mary's, stolen a silver Geneva wttch fiom cne James Blanchford. The wat Ji was found on the accused when arretted, and he was bound by recognizance to appear at Thomastown Petty Sessions on 7th March, lt93, but iailed to appear, and has absconded:— Dark brown eyes, regular nose, pale ccmplexicn, thin face, slight make, 5 feet inches high, ahont 20 or 21 year> of age, dark hair, no beard or rhitket*; wore a tweed cap, tweed coat, light tweed trcwseis and vest, is good looking and of respectable appearance; is a groom or stableboy. POWER ( embezzlement), not arrested, hue- and- Cry, 6th September, 1892. ( 18068 c.— 4749.) King's, LAURENCE HICKEY ( robbary from a hoase), Hue- and- Cry, 21st March, 1893, not arretted. .20142 c 8615.) Limerick, Description of a MAN, name and native place unknown, wbo stands charged with having, on the 26th January, 1893, in the borough of Limerick, parish of St. Michael's, stolen a mare, the property of John Rainsford, of Clonkeen, Barrington's Bridge Company, Limerick:— Red complexion, long tbin face, 6 feet 7 inches high, about 26 years of age, foxy moustache; wore a cap and dark clothes; appeared like a tidy farmer's con. Warrant for his an est in the bands ol the Head Constable at Limerick ( William- street). Limerick, 29th Jan., 1893. ( 20572 c.— 9420.) WILLIAM FITZGERALD ( charged with murder) Hue- and- cry, 12th May, has not been arrested. ( 98360 c.— 86735. Londonderry. Description of JAMES M'PEAKE ( mother's surname M'Kenna), native cf Ballymacpeake, who stands charged with having, on tbe 7th November 1892, in tbe barony of Loughinsholin, parish of Magbira, seriously assaulted and inflicted grievous bodily harm oa ore, Henry Mulholland, thereby placing his life in danger:— Very flat feet, knockneed ; gray or blue eyes, rlightly cocked nose, fair com- plexion, thin face, slight make 5 teet 5 inches high, about 20 years of age, brown hair; wore a black cap, dark tweed coat and trowsers. A Warrant is in tbe bands of the Sergeant at Bellaghy for this man's arrest. Magherafelt, 18th Dec., 1392. ( 19864 8141.) T. BINGHAM ( fraud), nst arrested, Hue and- Cry, 27th September, 1892. Description of JOHN M'NALLY ( mother's sur- name M'Quaid), native of Ohiil, who sialics charged with having, on the 6th December, 1892, in tbe barony of Longford, parish ol Killoe, seriously assaulted John Corrigan, of Melkagh, by slabbing him with a inite:— Square broad shoulders, swaggering gait, gene rally walks with his hands in his pockets; gray or blue eyes, long noee, pale complexion, round face, . tout make, abcut 5 feet 9 inches high, about 27 years of age. fair hair; wore a black cap dark coat, trow- Sers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Longford, 10th Dec., 1892. ( 19716 c.— 7940.) Tipperary. Description of Gunner JAMES MORRISSEY, No. 95238, a deserter or absentee without leave from 3rd Sub- Depot, Co. So. D. R. A:— 24$ years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown bair, gray » yei; date and place of desertion or absence, 14th February, 1898, at Templemore; date and place of enlistment, 21st January, 1893, at Templemore; born in the parish of Saint Catherine's, Dublin; mole under right ear; is a groem; dressed in regimentals. Under 6 months' service. Templemore, 17th Feb., 1893. ( 535 H. C.) Description of MARY MOLONEY, native of county Limerick, who stands charged with having, on the 28th January, 1893, at Bally bane, in the barony of Kilnamanagh Upper, parish of Toem, stolen a purse bolonging to Alice Lloyd, c mtaining one pound and ten shillings, also with obtaining goods by falss pretences:— Prominent front teeth, slight space between them, lisps when speaking and generally laughs when spoken to; dark eyes; swarthy com plexion : rrelir. ro make; 5 feet high; about 35 years of age ; black hair, curly in front; wore an old black dress, old black sbawl, laced boots, and wore a neck- lace with beads; tramp and servant girl. Description of JOHN RYAN " PLUNKHAM" ( Mother's surname Ryan, " Plunger"), native of Curraghmore, who stands charged with having, on the 30th December, 1892, in the barony of Owney and Aria, parish of Kilmastulla, fired at the person of Martin Troy:— Has marks of old cuts on his hsad; it good looking; prominent gray eyes, regular noee, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 fest 6 inches high, about 26 years of age, fair hair; woie a hard hat, snuff coloured tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Description of WILLIAM BUCKLEY, native of Cappawhite, who stands charged with having, on the 4th of December, 1892, ia the barony of Kilnamanagh Upper, parish of Toem, stabbed tbe Relieving Officer, John Quirke, with a knife or some sharp instrument, wounding bim on tbe thigh:— Sc impish appearance, hardy looking, no beard or whiskers, small black moustache, brown eyes, regular ncsa, fresh complexion, thin face, mediuw make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 26 or 27 years ot age, black hair; wore an old worn tweed c » p, dark twee! coat, trowsera, and vest; is t labourer ( servant boy). Warrant issued. Cappawhite, 8th December, 1892. ( 19701 c— 7876.) Tyrone, Description of EDWARD M'CALLUM, alias JOSEPH HASSON, alias S. BRADFORD, alias WILLIAM HUTTON, is in Omsgh Gaol on remand to Ballygawley Petty seSsions on 21st inst., charged with obtaining a gold watch and a bicycle by false pretences:— Gray- blue eyes, regular nose fair com- plexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches higb, 25 years of age; has been a farm labourer and shoo assistant. Is believed to have committed fraud eleewt ere. Information to District Inspector Gamble, Aughnacloy. Aughnacloy, 14th Feb., 1893. ( 20873 10001). Description of JAMES COLLINS, alias BEATTY, supposed to be a native of Glasgow, who stands charged with having, on the 15th December, 1892, in the barony of Strabane Upper, parish of Badoney Lower, unlawfully stolen £ 17, in single notes, and a small single- barrelled pistol from the house of one Daniel M'Goldrick ( small farmer), with whom he was a hired servant:— Two upper front teetb black, brown eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, soft white face, slight make, 5 feet 4 inches high about 16 years ol age, very black hair ; wore a two- peaked whitish cap, dark sack coat and old d., rk trowsers, patched on seat with corduroy ; is a farm servant. Description ( f PATRICK MEENAN ( mother's surname M'Court. native ol Aldrummond, who stands charged with having, on ti e 8th December, 1892, in tbe barony of Strabane Upper parish ol Cappagh, unlawfully fired a gun at Andrew Wasson, a game- keeper to Sir William M'Mahon : Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, a. dium make, 5 leet 6 inches high, about HO yearb of age, fair hair; wore a black peak cap, dark ceat, gray tiowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son tnd labourer. ( Warrant in tbe hands of A. S. Munn, Royal Irish Constabulary, Mountfield. for his arrest.; Newtownstewart, 10th December, 1892. ( 19744 c.— 7901.) Westmeath. CHARLES COBILL ( larceny), not arrested, Hue- and- Cry, 15th November, 1892. ( 19243 c.— fc830.) Wicklow. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 19th Mareh, 1893, absconded from the St Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, County . Wicklow :— OWEN REILLY, No. 2,339, aboiif 20 years of. age, 5 feet 5 inches or 5 feet 6 inches high, stout maKe^ fresh . complexion, brown liair, blue eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, round visage ; formerly belonged to Santry, county Dublin ; his parents are dead ; lost first joint of little finger of left hand, and has tattoo marks on his arms. The School dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, con- sists of:— Moleskin trowsers and vest, long frieze coat, cloth cap ( Scotch make), strong nailed boots, No. 2,339. He will endeavour to leave the country and enlist in the army as he did whilst away as an absconder in 1891. ' • - Some time ago his brother, William, resided at Cloghran, county Dublin, and his brother James at 35, Commons- street, Dublin. He has a sister in High- park Reformatory, Drumcondrn. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and' will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 20th March, 1893. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 19th March, 1893, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, otnnty Wicklow:— PATRICK BYRNE, No. 2,312, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches bigh, stout make, fair complexion, brown bair, blue eyes, ordinary nore ordinary moutb, oval or round visage, formerly beta aged to Ronndtown, county Dublin; " P" and other tattoo marks on right arm, rroeees, & e., on left. The School Dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Ckth cap ( Scotch make), corduroy jacket, moleskin trowsers ard vest, and only light slippers, No. 2,312. When this boy was away as an absconder in 189], he lodged at Byrne's- lane, Potter's- alley, and at Mrs. M'Gawley's, 57, M abbot- street, Dublin, for a con- siderable time; I have heard that Mrs. M'Gawley now resides in Mecklenburgh- strect. He may try to enlist. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 19th March, 1893, absconded from the Saint Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, ccunty Wicklow:— THOMAS PERRY, No. 2,441, about 19 or 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches bigh, stout make, fair complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, large note, ordinary moutb, ov « l or round visage, and rather tour- looking; formerly belonged to SO, Jervis- strert, Dublin ; mother and brother reside at 57, Great Strand- street, Dublin ; '•' 1" and ' J. P." tattooed on right forearm. Tie School dress, all with Reformatory Siamp, consists of:— Moleskin irowsers and vest, cloth cap ( Scotch liake), stioog nailed boots, No. 2,441. Ibis boy worked is a shoemaker for some time in Skerries, county Dub in. He will endeavour to leave the country and probably to eniibt, if he cannot get wo. k at the shoemaking. ( 543 H. C.) JAMES WELLS ( obtaining money by false pre- tences), Hue- and- Cry, 23rd August, not arrested. ( 16050 r,'— 1572). DUBLIn MeTrOpOLITAn POLICE. G Division. Particulars relative to convict GEORGE CAMPBELL, otheiwiie SAMUEL RoBINSON, c f 5, convicted at Downpatrick, county Down, at Assizes, on 13th March, 1886, for larceny ard previous conviction, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude, and 851 days ot a former sentence:— 55 years of age, married; is a saddler, born in Larne, his lriends reside near Larne; brown hair tcriiina; gray, gray eyes, dark Irown eyebrows, large hooked rrss large mcuth, ' r: sh complexion, brord vrsage, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches bigh; cut- mark on ba 1 of kit thumb, lost nearly all front teetb. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on 6th inst., and re orted himself to ti e Dublin Metro- politan P lice. He stated be would return and . notify his residence, but ha bus tot done so, and his present whereabouts ia Unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., ca^ t. 112, sec. 6, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 13th March, 1893. ( 542 H. C.) Particulars relative to convict THOMAS BURKE c 318, convicted at Limerick at County Quarter Sessions, on £ th April, 1889, for breaking into a ( hop snd stealing, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitu ' a. andL2 j ears' police supervision:— 53 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer: born in Dublin ; resided before conviction in Limerick; dark brown bair, blue eyes, light brown eyebrows, large nose, regular mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, meiium make, 5 feet 10 inches high; cuts on head, cross and dct on back of right wrist, varicose veins in right leg. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on 4th January, 1893, and west to Cork.
