All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn ; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. Should irregularities arise ih the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, ( fee., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. ( ej Apprehensions. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY, Antrim. Description of THOMAS O'NEILL ( mother's surname M'Cann), native of Millquarter, who stands charged with having, on the 17th March, 1893, a Killygarron, in the barony of Lower Toome, parish of Portglenone, tendered and uttered, knowingly, a counterfeit sovereign, and passed off the same on John Andrews, in payment for a half pint of spirits, receiving back the changc ( 18.?. 10ci.) from said John Andrews, publican :— Leans forward when walking, round shoulders, and appears a little stooped; dark eyes, hooked nose, dark complexion, oval facc, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 23 years of age, black hair; wore a black cap with peak, dark tag coat, gray trowsers, and gray tweed vest, generally wears a muffler; is a labourer; has slight dark moustache, but no beard or whiskers. The District Inspector at Ballymena holds a Warrant for his arrest. Ballymena, 8tli April, 1893. ( 21799 c 11864.) Description of a MAN, name and rative place Unknown, * ho stands chargcd with having, on the 6th March, 1893, in tte barony of Lower Toome, parish of Kirkinriols, assaulted and attempted to stab with a knife Rose Gilmer, and threatened to murder her:— Very dary eyes, regular nose, daik swarthy complexion full face, stout rr ake, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair, no whiskers or beard, may have a slight moustache; wore a black greasy cap, dark or black coat, dark trowsers and vest; trade or occupation unknown; has the appearance of an engine fitter, mechanic*, or sailor on tramp. Information swoin and warrant in hands cf District Inspector, Ballymena. Ballymena, 6th March, 1893. ( 21220 c.— 1Q717) PATRICK SCULLION, alias JORDAN ( firing at the person), described in Hue- and- Cty of 24th March, not arrested. ( 19619 c 7660.) Cavan. Description of JOHN M'GURRIN, native of Gorteen, county Fermanagh, who stands charged with having, on the night of 17th March, 1893, in the barony of Tullyhaw, parish of Tomregan, seriously assaulted one Thomas Donohue, by stabbing him with a knife:— Heavy brown moustache, gray eyes, regular nose, pale sallow complexion, thin face, slight active make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 42 years of age, brown hair turning gray ; wore a blue frock- coat, tweed trowsers, tweed vest, black soft hat with a red thread through it. Warrant in hands of Sergeant at Ballyconnell. Swanlinbar, 24th March, 1893. ( 21567 c 11430.) Description of JANE M'ENROE ( supposed fictitious), native places unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 22nd day of February, 1893, in the barony of Upper ' Loughtee, parish of Urney, abandoned her'infant child ( under 2 years), so as to endanger its life:— Sullen appearance ; small suken eyes, slightly hooked ncse, sallow complexion, long full face, stout make, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, aboit 21 years of age, black hair, with a monkey fringe; wore a black dress and jacket, with a flowered print jacket enderneath, a black hat, with some reddish flowers, and carried an umbrella; supposed to be a farmer's servant. Description of THOMAS DUIGNAN, native of Fatron, Ardlogher, county Cavan, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd January, 1893, in the barony of Loughtee Lower, parish of Tomregan, caused the death of Ellen M'Kiernan by blows and kicks:— Gray eyes, short thick nose, sallow com- plexion, tbin face, stout active make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a peak cap, light coat, light tweer* trowsers and vest; is a labourer. Killeshandra, 11th Jan. 1893, ( 20286 c.— 8878.) Inscription of WILLIAM HEWITT, Junior ( Mother's surname M'Meikle), native of Drum- connick, Cavan, who stands charged with having, on the 13th December. 1892, in the barony of Upper Loughtee, parish of Urney, stabbed one Moses Rourke with a penknife, and being bound by recognizance to appear at Cavan Petty Sessions on 19th Decem- ber, 1892, has absconded from his bail:— Prominent teeth, square shoulders, active appearance; dark eyes, slightly hooked nose, dark complexion, regular face, slight make, 6 feet 1 inch high, about 28 years of age, dark hair; wore a black bard hat, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. MICHAEL CLUNE ( house- breaking), Hne- and Cry, 2nd Sept., not arrested. ( 16138 c— 1869.) Down. Licensed, Convict JOSEPH KELLY, or CONNOR described in issne of 24th March, not arrested. ( 526 H. C.) Dublin. PATRICK LAWLESS ( attempted rape), described in issue of 7th April, not arrested. ( 19718 c.— 7860). Fermanagh. Information required concerning THOMAS MARTIN, native place unknown, who stands charged with bavin?, on the 21st December, 1892, in the barony of Magheraboy, parish of Inishmacsiint, ob- tained goods by false pretences from Janes Earls, Slavin, Belleek. It is supposed that he has committed other similar offences. His " modus operandi" is to get into correspondence with poultry and game dealers, & c., and obtain large consignments of goods, for which he cannot pay, being an undischarged bankrupt. He is at present undergoing a term of imprisonment in England for a similar offauco; is a commission agent. Information sworn and Warrant issied. Derrygonnelly, 8th Mar., 189?. ( 21352 c 11014.) Kerry. PATRICH SHEA ( murder), described in Hus- - 873?.) and- Cry of 21st Mire*!, 1893, not ar ested. ( 20169 a Kilkenny. Description of MICHAEL READE, native of Kilmoganny, who stands charged with having, oa the 8th June, 1892, in the barony of Municipal Borough, parish of St. Mary's, stolen a silver Geneva watsh from one James Blatchford. The watch was found on the accused when arrestsd, and he was bound by recognizance to appear at Thomastown Petty Sessions on 7th March, U93, but failed to appearand h* absconded:— Dark brown eyes, reguiar nosa, pale complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet inchest high, atoit 20 or 21 yearJ of age, dark hair, no baarl or whiskers ; wore a tweed cap, tweel coat, light tweed trowsers and vest, is good looking and of respectable appearance; is a groom or stable Ooy. Limerick, Description of JOSEPH O'REILLY, native of Limerick City, who stands charged with having, on the 20th March, 1892, in the borough of Limerick, parish of St. Michael's, embezzled the sum of £ 20 and upwards, the property of his employer, Mr. John Murphy :— Heavy dark brown moustache, long feet, respectable looking, dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, slight make, 6 feet high, about 26 years of age, dark brown hair ; wore a tweed sack- coat, striped trowsers, tweed vest; is an assistant goods agent. Warrant for his arrest in the hands of the Head Constable at William- street, Limerick. Limerick, 28th March, 1893. ( 21596 c— 11493.) Description of WILLIAM GOODWIN, native of Scariff, county Claic ( mctler's surname Sheeshan), who stands charged with haviag, on the £ 6th October, 18S2, in the borough o! Limerick, parish of St. Michael's, deserted his wife tnd four children, whereby they became destitute end chargeable on the rates of limerick Union:— Dark visage, cut- mark on left temple, thumb of right hand shoit, broad, and first joint missing, gray eyes, ordinary nose, dark complexion, small round face, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 45 years of age, hair turning gray; were f n old gray coat, trowsers. and vest; is a hospital porter, and handy about horses. Is acccmpanied by a woman who has an infant about two months old. She is of the following descrip- tion:— Round flushed fa: e, brown hair, clumsy irake, about 5 feet high, end .20 years of age. JAMES M'PEAKE ( serious assault), described in issue of 7th April, not arrested. ( 19864 c.— 8141). Longford. Description of JOHN M'NALLY ( mother's sur- name M'Quaid), native of Ohill, who stands charged with having, on the 6th December, 1892, in the barony of Longford, parish of Killoe, seriously assaulted John Corrigan, of Melkagh, by stabbing him with a knife :— Square broad shoulders, swaggering gait, gone- rally walks with his hands in his pockets; gray or bine eyes, long nose, pale complexion, round face, stout make, about 5 feet 9 inches high, about 27 years of age, fair hair; wore a black cap, dark coat, trow- eers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Description of PATRICK TUITE, native of county Meath, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd April, 1893, in the barony of Lower Deece, parish of Knockmark, stolen from a dwelling, one ten pound and one five pound note ( numbers not known or bank from which issued), three sovereigns and ten shillings in silver :— Neglected appearance, keeps his eyes shut when speaking, blua or gray eyes, regular nose, red complexion, small face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 65 or 70 years of age, gray beard whiskers and moustache cut short, long gray hair; wore a corduroy jacket over' brown drab coat, corduroy trowsers, no vest; is a tramplabourer. Roscommon; Description < f PATRICK ROGERS ( mother's surname Farrell), native cf Cloonsmagunane, who stands charged with having, onlha 17th March, 1893, in the barony of Frenchpark, parish of Tibohine, seriously assault ad John Lavin, Senior, and John lavin, Junior, of Cloonamagunane:— Slightly rouad- shoulderad, large blae eyes, ti ghtly eocked nose, pala complexion, long face medium make, 5 feet inches high, at out 20 yea's of ago, light brown hair; " wore a tweed tap, dark tweed coit, corduroy trowsrrs, and dark tweed vest; is a labourer. Warrant issued. Castlerea, 22nd March, 1893. ( 81548 a 11395). Tipperary; Description of PATRICK DALY, no fixed place, who stands charged with having, on the 13th day of Marcb, 1893, jn the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Tipperary, failed to notify to the police at Tipperary his change of residence, being a convict on ticket . of leave:— Cut mark front of head and left side of forehead, lost a front upper tooth, kick mark on left shin; gray eyes, long slight hooked nose, fresh com- plexion, oval face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 51 years of age, brown hair; wore a hard round jerry hat, gray tweed coat, tweed trowsers, and tweed vest; is a labourer. Tipperary, 27th March, 1893. ,( 546 H. C.) Description of Gunner JAMES MORRISSEY, No. 95238, a dtssrter or absentee without leave from 3rd Sub- Depot, Co. b" o. D. R. A:— 24^ jears of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, dark blown hair, grey eyes; date and place cf de ertlon cr absence, 14th February, 1893, at Templemore; date and place of enlistncect, 21st January, 1893, at Templemore; born in the parish of Saint Catherine's, Dublin; mole under right ear; is a groom; dressed in regimentals. Under 6 months' service, Templemore, 17th Feb, 1893. ( 535 H. C.) Description of MARY MOLONEY, native of county Limerick, who stands charged with having, on the 28 th January, 1893, at Ballybane, in tho barony of Kilnamanagh Upper, parish of Toem, stolen a purse bolonging to Alice Lloyd, containing one pound and ten shillings, also with obtaining goods by falsa pretences:— Prominent front teeth, slight spaie between them, lisps when speaking and generally laughs when spoken to ; dark oves ; swarthy com- plexion : medium make; 5 feet high ; about 35 years of age ; black hair, curly in front; wore an old black dress, old black shawl, laced boots, and wore a neck- lace with beads; tramp and servant girl. Description of JOHN RYAN " PLUNKHAM" ( Mother's surname Ryan, " Plunger"), native of Curraghmore, who stands charged with having, on the 30th December, 1892, in the barony of Owney and Aria, parish of Kilmastulla, fired at the person of Martin Troy:— Has marks of old cuts on his head; is good looking; prominent gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, abont 26 years of age, fair hair; wore a hard hat, snufl coloured tweed coat, trowsers, and vest$ is a labourer. Tyrone; Description of EDWARD M'CALLUM, alias JOSEPH HASSON, alias S. BRADFORD, alias WILLIAM HUTTON, is in Omagh Gaol on remand to Ballygawley Petty Sessions on 21st inst,, charged with obtaining a gold watch and a bicycle by false pretences:— Gray- blue ejes, regular ncsa, fair com- plexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, 25 years of age; has been a farm labourer and shop assistant. Is believed to have committed fraud elsewhere. Information to District Inspector Gamble, Aughnacloy. Aughnacloy, 14th Feb., 1893. ( 20873 10001). Description of JAMES COLLINS, alias BEATTY, supposed to be a native of Glasgow, who stands charged with having, on the 15th December, 1892, in the barony of Strabane Upper, parish of Badoney Lower, unlawfully stolen £ 17, in single notes, and a small single- barrelled pistol from the house of one Daniel M'Goldrick ( small farmer), with whom he was a hired servant:— Two upper front teeth black, brown eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, soft white face, slight make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 16 years of age, very black hair ; wore a two- peaked whitish cap, dark sack coat and old dark trowsers, patched on seat with corduroy ; is a farm servant. Description cf PATRICK MEENAN ( mother's surname M'Court), native of Aldrummond, who stands charged with having, on the 8th December, 1892, in tbe b& rony of Strabane Upper, parish of Cappagh, unlawfully fired a gun at Andrew Wasson, a game- keeper to Sir William M'Mahon: Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about SO years of age, fair hair; wore a black peak cap, dark coat, gray trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son and labourer. ( Warrant in the hands of A. S. Munn, Royal Irish Constabulary, Mountfield, for his arrest.; Newtownstewart, 10th December, 1892. ( 19744 c.— 7801.) Westmeath, CHARLES COBILL ( larceny), not arrested, Hue- and- Cry, 15th November, 1892. ( 19243 c.— f 830.) fl Wicklow. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 19th March, 1893, absconded from the St Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow :— OWEN REILLY, No. 2,339, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches or 5 feet 6 inches high, stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, round visage; formerly belonged to Santry, county Dublin ; his parents are dead ; lost first joint of little finger of left hand, and has tattoo marks on his arms. The School dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, con- sists of:— Moleskin trowsers and vest, long frieze coat, cloth cap ( Scotch make), strong nailed boots, No. 2,339. He will endeavour to leave the country and enlist in the army as he did whilst away as an absconder in 1891. Some time ago his brother, William, resided at Cloghran, county Dublin, and his brother James at 35, Commons- street, Dublin. Ho has a sister in High- park Reformatory, Drumcondra. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 20th March, 1893. Description of tho undernamed young offender, who, on the 19th March, 1893, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory Sohool at Glencree, county Wicklow s — PATRICK BYRNE, No. 2,312, about £ 0 yoaraof age, 5 feet 4 inches high, stout make, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, oval or rouad visage, formerly belonged to Roundtown, county Dublin; " P" and other tattoo marks on right arm, crosses, & c., on left. The School Dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Cloth cap ( Scotch make), corduroy jacket, moleskin trowsers ard vest, and only light slippers, No. 2,312. When ( his boy was away as an absconder in 1891, he lodged at Byrne's- lane, Potter's- alley, and at Mrs. M'Gawley's, 57, Mabbot- street, Dublin, for a con- siderable time; I have heard that Mrs. M'Gawley now resides in Mecklenburgh- street. He may try to enlist. The Mansger of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture bim with £ 1. 20th Mareb, 1893. ( 543 H. C.) Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 19th March, ) 893, absconded from the Saint Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow:—. THOMAS PERRY, No. 2,441, about 19 or 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, stout make, fair complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, large nose, ordinary mouth, oval cr round visage, and rather eour- looking; formerly belonged to £ 0, Jervis street, Dublin; mother and brother reside at 57, Great Strand- street, Dublin; " T" and " J. P." tattooed on right forearm. The School dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Moleskin trowsers and vest, cloth cap ( Scotch make), strong nailed boots, No. 2,441. This boy worked as a shoemaker for some time in Skerries, county Dublin. He will endeavour to leave the c. untry and probably to enlist, if ho cannot get work at the ehoemaking. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of bis conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 20th March, 1893. ( fi43 H. C.) JAMES WELLS ( obtaining money by false pre- tences), Hue- and- Cry, 23rd August, not arrested. ( 16050 « •<— 157S). DUBLIN METROPOLITAN FOLIOS. G Division. Particulars relative to convict GEORGE CAMPBELL, otherwise SAMUEL ROBINSON, c 55, convicted at Downpatrick, county Down, at Assizes, on 13th March, 1886, for larceny and previous conviction, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude, and 851 dsys of a former sentence:— 55 years of age, married, is a saddler, born in Lame, his friends reside near Larne; brown hair turning gray, gray eyes, dark brown eyebrows, large hooked nose, large mouth, fresh complexion, broad visage, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high; cut- mark on ball of left thumb, lost nearly all front teeth. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on 6th inst., and reported himself to tbe Dublin Metro- politan Police. He stated he would return and notify his residence, but he has not done so, and his present whereabouts is unknowr. Particulars relative to convict THOMAS BURKF, c 813, convicted at Limerick at County Quarter Sessiocs, on £ th April, 1889, for breaking into a shop snd stealirg, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude and 2 j ears' pclice supervision:— 53 years of ape on corviction, single, is a labourer; bcrn in Dublin; resided before cor viction in 1 imerick; dark brown hair, blue eyes, light brown oyebiowp, large nose, regular mouth, fresh complexion, cval vuage, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high; cuts on head, cro3s and dot on back of right wrist, varicose veins in right leg. This man was re! eired frcm Maryboro' Prison on 4th January, 1893, acd went to Ccrfr. He left his residence, 2, Old George's street, in that city, on 6th nit., witbent reporting to Royal Irish Constabulary, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he shonld be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., cep. 112, tec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 13th March, 1893. ( 512 H. O ) Description of CHARLES FLUDGATE, who stands charged with stealing, on S9th nit., a horse saddle, and bridle from Portobello Barracks, Dublin, the property of the Commander- in- Chief of Her Majesty's Forces:— He is 24 years old, 5 feet 4 inches high, medium make, dark hair azd complexion, shaved face except small dark moustache; when last seen was dressed in a brown jerry hat, a light colour check lounge suit, and black cloth top eoat; is an Army Reservist and a native of Dnblin. Warrant in the hands of the Chief Superintendent, Dublin Castle. ( 523 H. C.) CHARLES MACDOUGALL ( theft), not arrested, Hue- and- Cry, 2nd December, 1892. ( 520 H. C.) ENGLISH POLICE. Cheshire. Amended description of THREE MEN, strongly suspected of committing the robbery of valuable jewellery at " The Rookery," Worleston, Nant- wicb, Cheshire, on the 16th instant, having been seen in the vicinity of " The Rookery" the previous day, and also on day of robbery, and who are known to have been staying at Crewe for some days previously, viz. :— 1. About 50 to 60 years of age, height 5 feet 4 or 5 inches, fresh complexion, medium build, hair and mous- tache gray, no beard; dress: dark- brown felt hat, fawn- colourcd dust coat, slate- coloured trowsers with black stripe. 2. Age 30 to 35 years, height 5 feet 8 or 9 inches, slight build, sallow complexion, black moustache and beard trimmed to a point, brown eyes; dressed in rough black cloth suit and overcoat, black felt hat, black tie with horse- shoe pin studded with pearls repre- senting nails, carried an oak sapling walking stick; described himself as a hay and straw dealer, and in- variably wore a brown kid glove on one hand ( be- lieved to be the right). 3. Age 30 to 35 years, height 6 feet 1 or 2 inches fresh complexion, heavy light- brown moustache, of a bristly description, stands out from his lip and looks as if it were clipped, sunken eyes, walks erect, supposed to be slightly pockpitted; dress: black coat, black felt hat, mixed coloured trowsers, bright red necktie with pin, wore a high collar showing stud behind ; carried a light gorse walking stick. This man is said to have spoken in an Irish or Scotch accent. The above- described men were dressed in better clothes than their appearance and class of life seemed to warrant, and wore linen collars and cuffs, and brown kid or dogskin gloves, and each had on a pair of laced boots with broad soles. The above- described men may have been assisted by a fourth, of the following description :— Age about 24 years, height 5 feet 7 or 8 inches; wearing dark cloth overcoat down to knees, light striped trowsers.
