All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, DuMLn Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, • and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. %* Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to bs good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, & c., and of any circum., t< mces rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry" no longer necessary. Description of a MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 6th March, 1893, in tbe barony of Lower Toome, parish of Kirkinriols, assaulted and attempted to stab with a knife Rose Gilmer, and threatened to mnrder her:— Very dary eyes regular nose, dark swarthy complexion, lull face, stout p ahe, 5 feet 6 inches higb, abont SO years of age, dark bair, no whiskers or beard, may have a slight moustache; wore a black greasy cap, dark or black coat, dark trowsers and vest; trade cr occupation unknown; has the appearance of an engine fitter, mechanic, or sailor on tramp. Description of JOHN M'GURRIN, native of Gorteen, county Fermanagh, who stands charged with having, on the night of 17th March, 1893, in the barony of Tullyhaw, parish of Tomregan, seriously assaulted one Thomas Donohue, by stabbing him with a knife:— Heavy brown moustache, gray eyes, regular nose, pale sallow complexion, thin face, slight active make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 42 years of age, brown hair turning gray ; wore a blue frock- coat, tweed trowscrs, tweed vest, black soft hat with a red thread through it. Warrant in hands of Sergeant at Ballyconnell. Swanlinbar, 24th March, 1893. ( 21567 c 11430.) Description of JANE M'ENROE ( supposed fictitious), native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 22nd day of February, 1893, in the barony of Upper Longhtee, parish of Urney, abandoned her infant child ( unler 2 yejrs), so as to endanger it* lite:— Sullen appearance; small sukcn eyes, slightly hooked n se, sallow complexion, long full face, stoat make, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches higb, aboat 21 years of ape, black hair, w: th a monkey fringe; wore a black drew and jacket, with a flowered print jacket enderneatb, a blsck hat, with some reddish flowers, and carried an umbrella; supposed to be a farmer's serrant. Description of THOMAS DUIGNAN, native of Fatron, Ardlogber, connty C& van, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd January, 1893, in the barony of Loughtee Lower, parish of Tomregan, caused the death of Ellen M'Kiernan by blows and kicks:— Gray eyes, short thick nose, sallow com- plexion, thin face, stont active make, 5 feet 6 inches high, abont 22 years of age, dark brown bair; wore a peak cap, light coat, light tweer* trowsers and vest; is a labourer. Killeshandra, 11th Jan. 1893, ( 20286 c.— 8878.) inscription of WILLIAM HEWITT, Junior ( Mother's surname M'Meikle), native of Drum- connick, Cavan, who stands charged with having, on the 13th December, 1892, in the barony of Upper Loughtee, parish of Urney, stabbed one Moses Rourke with a penknife, and being; bound by recognizance to appear at Cavan Petty Sessions on 19th Decem- ber, 1892, has absconded from his bail:— Prominent teeth, square shoulders, active appearance; dark eyes, slightly hooked nose, dark complexion, regular face, slight make, 6 feet 1 inch higb, about 28 years of age, dark hair; wore a black bard hat, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a fanner's son. MICHAEL CLUNE ( house- breaking), Hue- and Cry. 2nd Sept., not arrested. ( 16138 c 1869.) Down. Description of ROBERT CREE ( mother's surname Campbell), native of Bangor, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 14th January, 1893, in the barony of Lower Castlereagh, parish of Bangor, feloniously and burglariously broken and entered the dwelling- house of Thomas Jamison, and stolen there- from tbe sum of £ 4 10*.:— Tattoo marks on both arncs, bracelet tattooed on left wrist, ring on middle Soger of left band, blue eyes, regular nose, fresh com plexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high abont £ 8 years of age, fair hair, shaved all face except moustache which is fair; wore a black cap with peak brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, checked bar in tweed, suit somewhat worn; is a labourer, and served in the Royal Horse Artillery. Warrant issued for his arrest. Newtownards, 18th Jan., 1893 (£ 0402 9100), Licensed Convict JOSEPH KELLY, or CONNOR, described in iuue of 24th March, not arrested. ( 626 H. C.) Dublin. Description of PATRICK LAWLESS, native of Dsrmotstown, who stands charged with having, on the 7th day of December, 1892, in the barony of Balrothery East, parish of Balscadden, attempts! to commit rape:— Down- looking appearance, large tooth right ride of upper jaw; thick nose, pale complexion, braad face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 18 mn of age, very fair hair; wore a gray tweed cap, ftlsM coat, dark tweed trowsars, and tweed Test; is a labourer. Information required concerning THOMAS MARTIN, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 21st Daeembjr, 1892, in the barony of Magheraboy, parish of Inishmacsaint, ob- tained goods by false pretences from James Earls, Slavin, Belleek. It is supposed that he has committed other similar offences. His " modus operandi" is to get into correspondence with poultry and game dealers, !., and obtain large consignments of goods, for which he cannot pay, being an undischarged bankrupt. He is at present undergoing a term of imprisonment in England for a similar offence ; is a commission agent. Information swom and Warrant issued. Derrygonnelly, f> th Mar.. 1W. ( 91352 c 11014.) Description of PATRICK SULLIVAN ( mother's surname Nano Sullivan), native of Derrygarrive, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 27th Febraary, 1893, in the barony of Glaneroagh, parish of Kenmare, unlawfully assaulted Timothy Cromni, and endangered bis life bv striking him on the forehead with't stone, wtijh inflicted a dangerous wound :— Blue eyes, regular nwa, dark complexion, short round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 22 yews of age, da- k hair, small dark moustachs'; wore a soft black jerry hat, dark tweel froo\ ooat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son, Kenmare, 1st March, 1893. ( 21150 c.— 10563.) PATRICK SHEA ( murder), deacribed in HUJ- and- Cry of 21st March, 1893, not arrested. ( 20169 o.— 8732.) Kilkenny. Description of MICHAEL READE, native ol Kilmoganny, who stands charged with having, on the 8th June, 1892, in the barony of Municipal Borough, parish of St Mary's, stolen a silver Geneva watch from one James Blanchford. The watch was found on the accused when arrestsd, and he was bound by recognizance to appear at Thomastown Petty Sessions on 7th March, 1893, but failed to appear and has absconded:— Dark brown eyes, reguiar nose, pale complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6£ inches high, aboit 20 or 21 yearj of age, dark hair, no board or whiskers } wore a tweed cap, tweed coat, light tweed trowsers and vest, is good looking and of respectable appearance; is a groon or stable boy. Description of JOSEPH O'REILLY, native of Limerick City, who stands charged with having, on the 20th March, 1892, in the borough of Limerick, parish of St. Michael's, embezzled the sum of .£ 20 and upwards, the' property of his employer, Mr. John Murphy :— Heavy dark brown moustache, long feet, respectable looking, dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, slight make, 6 feet high, about 26 years of age, dark brown hair ; wore a tweed sack- coat, striped trowsers, tweed vest; is an assistant goods agent. Warrant for his arrest in the hands of the Head Constable at William- street, Limerick. Limerick, 28th March, 1893. ( 21596 c 11493.) Description of WILLIAM GOODWIN, native of Scariff, county Clare ( mother's surname Sheelan), who stands charged with having, on the S6th October, 1892, in tbe borough oi Limerick, parish of St. Michael's, deserted his wife tnd fonr children, whereby tbey became destitate and chargeable on the rates of limerick Union:— Dark visage, cut- mark on left temple, thumb of right hand shott, broad, and first joint missing, gray eves, ordinary nose, dark complexion, small round face, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 45 years of age, hair turning gray; wore en old gray coat, trowsers, and veit j is a hospital porter, and handy abont horses. Is acccmpanied by a woman who has an infant about two months old. She is of the following descrip- tion Round flashed face, brown hair, clumsy wake, abont 5 feet high, end 20 years of age Warrant in the hards of the Head Constable at William- street, Limerick. Description of a MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 26th January, 1893, in the borough of Limerick, parish of St. Michael's. stolen a mare, the property of John Rainsford, of Clonkeen, Barrington's Bridge Company, Limerick:— Red complexion, long tbin face, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 26 years of age, foxy moustache; wore a cap and dark clothes; appeared like a tidy farmer's eon. Warrant for his arrest in the hands oi the Head Constable at Limerick ( William- street). Limerick, 29th Jan., 1893. ( 20572 c.— 9420.) WILLIAM FITZGERALD ( charged with murder) Hue- and- cry, 12th May, has not been arrested. ( 98360 c— 86735. Londonderry. Description of JAMES M'PEAKE ( mother's surname M'Kenna), native of Ballymacpeake, who stands charged with having, on the 7th November, 1898, in the barony of Loughinsholin, parish of Maghera, seriously assaulted and inflicted grievous bodily harm on one, Henry Mulholland, thereby placing his life in danger:— Very flat feet, knockneed ; gray or blue eyes, rlightly cocked nose, fair com- plexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 20 years of age, brown hair; wore a black cap, dark tweed coat Bnd trowsers. Description of PATRICK COYLE and JAMES COYLE ( mother's surname Corcoran), natives of Carrickadorish, who stand charged with having, on the 23rd March, 1893, in the barony of Granard, parish of Columbkill, seriously assaulted Thomas Donohoe by striking him with stones on the head:— 1. Small shoulders, long neck, active appearance, large gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, small round face, medium make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 26 years of age, fair hair, and small fair moustache ; is a farmer's son. 2. Active appearance, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, round face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 18 years of age, fair hair ; is a farmer's son. Warrants issued. IJTJL Description of JOHN M'NALLY ( mother's sur- name M'Quaid), native of Ohill, who stands charged with having, on the 6th December, 1892, in the Description of PATRICK DALY, no fixed place, who stands charged with having, on the 13th day of March, 1893, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Tipperary, failed to notify to the police at Tipperary his change of residence, being a convict on ticket of leave:— Cut mark front of head and left side of forehead, lost a front upper tooth, kick mark on left shin ; gray eyes, long slight hooked nose, fresh com- plexion, oval face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, ; about 51 years of age, brown hair; wore a hard round ; jerry hat, gray tweed coat, tweed trovvsers, and tweed vest; is a labourer. Tipperary, 27th March, 1893. ( 546 H. C.) Description of Gunner JAMES MORRISSEY, No. 95238, a deserter or absentee without leave from 3rd Sub- Depot, Co. So. D. R. A:— 24| year* of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, gray eyes; date and place of desertion or absence, 14th February, 1893, at Temple- more; date and place of enlistment, 21st January, 1893. at Teatplemore; born in the parish of Saint Catherine's, Dublin; mole under right ear; is a groom; dressed in regimentals. Description of MARY MOLONEY, native of county Limerick, who stands charged with having, on the 28th January, 1898, at Ballyhane, in the baron v of Kilnamanagh Upper, parish of Toem, stolen a purse belonging to Alice Lloyd, containing one pound and ten shillings, also with obtaining goods by falss pretences:— Prominent front teeth, slight space between them, lisps when speaking and generally laughs when spoken to; dark eyes; swarthy com- plexion : medium make; 5 feet high ; about 35 years of age; black hair, curly in front; wore an old black dress, old black shawl, laced boots, and wore a neck- lace with beads; tramp and servant girl. Description of JOHN RYAN " PLUNKHAM" ( Mother's surname Ryan, " Plunger"), native ol Curraghmore, who stands charged with having, on tl e 30th December, 1892, in the barony of Owney and Aria, parish of Kilmastulla, fired at the person of Martin Troy:— Has marks ol old cuts on his head; is good looking ; prominent gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 26 years of age, fair hair; wore a hard hat, snuff colonred tweed coat, trowsers. and vest; is a labourer. Description of WILLIAM BUCKLEY, native of Cappawhite, who stands charged with having, on the 4th of December, 1892, in the barony of Kilnamanagh Upper, parish of Toem, stabbed the Relieving Officer, John Quirke, with a knife or some sharp instrument, wounding him on the thigh:— Scampish appearance, hardy looking, no beard or whiskers, small black moustache, brown eyes, regnlar nose, fresh complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 26 or 27 years oi age, black hair; wore an old worn tweed cap, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is * labourer ( servant boy). Warrant issued. Cappawhite, 8th December, 1892. ( 19701 7P76.) Tyrone, Description of EDWARD M'CALLUM, alias JOSEPH HASSON, alias S. BRADFORD, alias WILLIAM HUTTON, is in Omagh Gaol on remand to Ballygawley Petty Sessions on 21st inst., charged with obtaining g gold watch and a bicycle by false pretences:— Gray- blue eyes, regular nose, fair com- plexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, 25 years of age; has been a farm labourer and shop assistant. Is believed to have committed fraud elsewhere. Information to District Inspector Gamble, Aughnacloy. Aughnacloy, 14th Feb., 1893. ( 20873 o— 10001), Description of JAMES COLLINS, alias BEATTY„ supposed to be a native of Glasgow, who stands charged with having, on the 15th December, 1892, in the barony of Strabane Upper, parish of Badoney Lower, unlawfully stolen £ 17, in single notes, and a small single- barrelled pistol from the house of one Daniel M'Goldrick ( small farmer), with whom he was a hired servant:— Two upper front teeth black, brown eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, soft whito face, slight make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 16 years of age, very black hair ; wore a two- peaked whitish cap, dark sack coat and old dark trowsers, patched on seat with corduroy; is a farm servant. Description cf PATRICK MEENAN ( mother's surname M'Court), native of Aldrummond, who stands charged with having, on the 8th December, 1892, in tbe barony of Strabane Upper, parish of Cappagh, unlawfully fired a gun at Andrew Wasson, a game- keeper to Sir William M'Mahon:— Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a black peak cap, dark coat, gray trowsers, and vest; is a ( aimer's son and labourer. ( Warrant in tbe hands of A. S. Munn, Royal Irish Constabulary, Mountfield. for his arrest.; Newtownstewart, 10th December, 18 » 2. ( 19744 c.— 7601.) Westmeath. CHARLES COBILL ( larceny), not arrested, Hue- and- Cry, 15th November, 1892. ( 19243 c.— t830.) Wicklow. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 19th March, 1893, absconded from the St Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow :— OWEN REILLY, No. 2,339, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches or 5 feet 6 inches high, stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, round visage ; formerly belonged to Santry, county Dublin ; his parents are dead ; lost first joint of little finger of left hand, and has tattoo marks on his arms. The School dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, con- sists of:— Moleskin trowsers and vest, long frieze coat, cloth cap ( Scotch make), strong nailed boots, No. 2,339. He will endeavour to leave the country and enlist in the army as he did whilst away as an absconder in 1891. Some time ago his brother, William, resided at Cloghran, county Dublin, and his brother James at 35, Commons- street, Dublin. He has a sister in High- park Reformatory, Drumcondra. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 20th March, 1893. ( 543 H. C.) Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 19th March, 1893, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow j— PATRICK BYRNE, No. 2,312 about 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, stout make, fair complexion, brown hair, bine eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary month, oval or round visage, formerly belonged to Roondtown, county Dublin; " P" and other tattoo marks on right arm, crosses, & c., on left. The School Dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Cloth cap ( Scotch make), corduroy jacket, moleskin trowsers and vest, and only light slippers, No. 2,312. When this boy was away as an absconder in 1891, he lodged at Byrne's- lane, Potter's- alley, and at Mrs. M'Gawley's, 57, Mabbot- street, Dublin, for a con- siderable time; I have heard that Mrs. M'Gawley now resides in Mecklenburgh- street. He may try to enlist. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray tho expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with XI. 20th March, 1893. ( 543 H. C.) Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 19th March, ] 893, absconded from the Saint Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow:— THOMAS PERRY, No. 2,441, about 19 or 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, stout make, fair complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, large nose, ordinary mouth, oval or round visage, and rather sour- looking; formerly belonged to SO, Jervis- street, Dublin; mother and brother reside at 57, Great Strand- street, Dublin; " T" and " J. P." tattooed on right forearm. The School dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Moleskin trowsers and vest, cloth cap ( Scotch make), strong nailed boots, No. 2,441. This boy worked as a shoemaker for some time in Skerries, county Dublin. He will endeavour to leave the country and probably to enlist, if he cannot get work at the thoemaking. Particulars relative to convict GEORGE CAMPBELL, otherwise SAMUEL ROBINSON, C 65, convicted at Downpatrick, county Down, at Assizes, on 13th March, 1886, for larceny and previous conviction, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude, and 851 days of a former sentence:— 55 years of age, married, is a saddler, born in Larne, his friends reside near Larne; brown hair tnrning gray, gray eyes, dark brown eyebrows, large hooked nose, large mouth, fresh complexion, broad visage, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high; cut- mark on ball of left thumb, lost nearly all front teeth. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on 6th inst., and retorted himself to the Dublin Metro- politan Police. He stated he would return and notify his residence, but he has not done so, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he slould be dealt with nnder 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 13th March, 1893. ( 542 H. C.) Particulars relative to convict THOMAS BURKE, 0 313, convicted at Limerick at County Quarter Sessions, on £ th April, 1889, for breaking into a shop and stealir g, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude, and 2 j ears' police supervision:— 53 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer; born in Dublin; resided before conviction in Limerick; dark brown hair, blue eyes, light brown eyebrows, large nose, regular month, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high; cuts on head, cross and dot on back of right wrist, varicose veins in right leg. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on 4th January, 1893, and went to Cork. He left his residence, 2, Old George's street, in that city, on 6th ult., withont reporting to Royal Irish Constabulary, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, tec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 13th March, 1893. ( 542 H. o.) Description of CHARLES FLUDGATE, who stands charged with steab'ng, on 29th ult, a horse, saddle, and bridle from Portobello Barracks, Dublin, the property of the Commander- in- Chief of Her Majesty's Forces:— He is 24 years old, 6 feet 4 inches high, medium make, dark hair and complexion, shaved face except small dark moustache; when last seen was dressed in a brown jerry hat, a light colour check lounge suit, and black cloth top eoat; is an Army Reservist and a native of Dublin. Amended description of THREE MEN, strongly suspected of committing the robbery of valuable jewellery at " The Rookery," Worleston, Nant- wicb, Cheshire, on the 16th instant, having been seen in the vicinity of " The Rookery" the previous day, and also on day of robbery, and who are known to have been staying at Crewe for some days previously, viz. :— 1. About 50 to 60 years of age, height 5 feet 4 or 5 inches, fresh complexion, medium build, hair and mous- tache gray, no beard; dress: dark- brown felt hat, fawn- coloured dust coat, slate- coloured trowsers with black stripe. 2. Age 30 to 35 years, height 5 feet 8 or 9 inches, slight build, sallow complexion, black moustache and beard trimmed to a point, brown eyes; dressed in rough black cloth suit and overcoat, black felt hat, black tie with horse- shoe pin studded with pearls repre- senting nails, carried an oak sapling walking stick; described himself as a hay and straw dealer, and in- variably wore a brown kid glove on one hand ( be- lieved to be the right). 3. Age 30 to 35 years, height 6 feet 1 or 2 inches fresh complexion, heavy light- brown moustache, of a bristly description, stands out from his lip and looks as if it were clipped, sunken eyes, walks erect, supposed to be slightly pockpitted; dress: black coat, black felt hat, mixed coloured trowsers, bright red necktie with pin, wore a high collar showing stud behind ; carried a light gorse walking stick. This man is said to have spoken in an Irish or Scotch accent. The above- described men were dressed in better clothes than their appearance and class of life seemed to warrant, and wore linen collars and cuffs, and brown kid or dogskin gloves, and each had on a pair of laced boots with broad soles. The above- described men may have been assisted by a fourth, of the following description :— Age about 24 years, height 5 feet 7 or 8 inches ; wearing dark cloth overcoat down to knees, light striped trowsers.
