THE V Police Gazette, OR HUE- a: Published for Ireland on every Tuesday and Friday. , REGULATIONS. _ All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- GeneraL Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a " Warrant has been issued, « nd by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. %• Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as Without this information the mistake cannot bo rectified. i Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to, be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations,- ifec., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. i DUBLIN, TUESDAY, JUNE 7, 1893. Armagh, Description of ISAAC MILLER, netive of Russia, who stards charged with having, within the past six months, in the barony of O'Neiland East, parish of Shankill, embizzled certain sums of money received by him for bis employer:— Dark eyes, broad pro- minent EI Be, dark completion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about twenty years of age, dark hair ; wore a low jerry hat, black jacket coat, dark trowsers ard vest; is a pedlar, and has a certificate ; speaks English badly. Description of WILLIAM POWER, native of Ardvullane, who stands charged with having, on the 28th day of May, 1892, at Lattin, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Lattin, district of Tipperary, seriously assaulted John Dannaher, by kicking him on the head, thereby placing his life in danger:— Dark ejes, cocked nose, dark complexion, round face, stou; make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 18 years of age, black hair; wo'e a gray cap, black coat, gray trowsers, and black vest; is a farmer's son. Description of PATRICK MURPHY ( mother's surname Morsn, native of Birr, King's County), native of Ballycapple, Cloughjordan, who stands charged with having, on the 17th March, 1892, at Bantis. in the barony of Upper Ormond, parish of Ballygibbon, committed a rape on Ellen Guilfoyle, aged 75 years:— Round shoulders, shaves all his face except small side whiskers which are sandy, gray eyes, rather flat nose, fresh complexion, broad face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 32 years of age, brown hair; wore a slouched black bat, blu* tweed coat, trowsers, and vest,; is a farmer's son; will likely endeavour to emigrate. Description of RICHARD ENGLISH ( mother's surname Carey), native of Carrowkeale, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd of Jaly, 1886, in the barony of Kilnamanagh Lower, parish of Donohill, seriously assaulted one James Gleeson, by striking him with a stone, from the effects of which he died after- wards :— Cut- mark on back of head, high cheek bones, brown moustache and side whiskers as far down as ears, long neck, gray eyes, long nose, fresh complexion, thin face, active make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 25 or 26 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a soft felt hat, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Description of JEREMIAH FINEGAN, alias WALTER FERGUSON, native of Stradone, county Cavan, who has been returned for trial on the charge of having, on the night of 29th or morning of 30th April, 1892, in the barony of West Omagh, parish of Skirts of Urney, broken into the Manse in connection with the 2 ad Castlederg Presbyterian Church, and stolen therefrom 26 keys and a piece of marble;— Has a good address and appears to have got a good education; blue eyes, straight nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 50 years of age, sandy hair turning gray ; wore a brown tweed cap, old drab coat, dark tweed trowsers, and black vest; is a tramp. Plays a tin whistle through towns and villages. He may have committed crime elsewhere. THOMAS CASHEL ( stealing postal order), Hue- and- Cry, 16th February, 1892, not arrested. ( 12255 c.— 94S%) Wicklow. Description of JOHN WILSON ( mother's surname not known, but resides at No. 8, South King- street, Dublin) native of Glasgow, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 15th May, 1892, in the barony of Newcastle, parish of Kilcoole, being con- cealed in Bromley Demesne, under circumstances denoting that he was there for the purpose of committing a felony, and unable to give a good account of himself, lodging in the open air, and without any visible means of subsistence, and escaping from custody of police :— Blue or gray eyes, pile complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 35 years of age; wore an old dark hard hat, long dark ooat, light trowsers. Speaks with a Scotch acse nt; is known to the police in counties of Dublin, Wicklow, and Wex- ford ; is a tramp. Warrant issued. Bray, 1st June, 1892. ( 16010 o.— 1 ( 82.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLIOS. G Division. Particulars relative toConvict BERNARD BOYLE, convicted at Belfast, county Antrim, on 19th March, 1884, for larceny from the person, after previous con- viction, and sentenced to 7 jeirs' penal servitude; 51 years of age on conviction, married, is a hackler, born in Belfast, where he resided before conviction, and where his friends reside :— Light brown hair, gray eyes, sandy eyebrows, large nose, large mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feat 6 inches high; varicose veins in legs, t wo fla^ s and a gun on left side, B. B. E. B , two fUgs and anchor on right arm, B. B., Crucifix and heart on left arm, bracelet on each . wrist, bald top of bead. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on licence, on 1st April, 1892, and went to Belfast. He left his residence on the 18th uHo. without notify* ing to the Police, and his present whereabouts is un- known. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 26th May, 1892. ( 477 h. C,) Particulars relative to Convict PATRICK FINN, convicted at Wicklow, on 19thDec., 1887, for rape, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitu ie; 25 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer, born at Dublia, resided at Tallow before conviction, his friends reside at Tullow, and Kilcool, county Wicklow ; dark brown hair, gray eyes, dark brown eyebrows, medium nose, regular mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, pro- portionate make, 5 feet 4J inches bi^ h ; M. F. A. S. P. F. M. H., anchor, A. S. P. F. and several dots on fore- arm and back of left hand, M. X H. + M. x H. on right forearm. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison, on 11th April, 1892, and went to Man- chester. He reported himself at the Dublin Detective Office on 19th inst. on arrival from Liverpool, and stated he would notify his residence next day, but he has failed to do so, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 26th May, 1892. ( 477 H. C.) Particulars relative to convict JAMES M'DON- NELL c 84, convicted at Dublin City Commission, on 28th Ootober, 1886, for housebreaking and larceny, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude :— 35 years of age on conviction, married, is a labourer, born at Dublin, where he resided before conviction, and where bis friends reside; dark hair, hazel eyes, dark brown eyebrows, small nose, small mouth, sallow complexion, round visage, medium make, 5 feet 4 inches high; cut on top of head, ruptured left side. This man was teleased from Maryboro' Prison on licence, 29th February, 1892, and emigrated. He recently returned, bat up to the present has not re- ported himself to the Police, anl his whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sea 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 28 April, 1892. ( 471 h. C.) Stolen, by a man who signed his name " H. Groves," and gave his address, 7, Albert- road, Brighton, and Holmleigh House, Qaeen's- road, Reading, which is false, about 27 years ot age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair with slight dark moustache, ruddy com- plexion with bright colour on cheekbone?, gentlemanly appearance, dressed in black morning coat, blue and gray striped trowsers, black Oxford hat, and was wearing brown gloves:— On Friday, 13th instant, a dark chestnut mare, " Sutton," marked white below the locks on both bind legs; white stir on face; height about 15.1 or 2 hands; a set of brass- mounted harness, No. 18 on the bridle and pad, and stamped " A. DuPontand a dog- cart, marked " Hunt & Co." on the box of tbe wheels, painted dark green, picked out with black, with tail- board, dark green clotb cushions, and indiarubber mat, front seat, bat no back seat or lamps; whip, maker's name stamped " Schomberg," and branded " A.
