All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn j but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. %* Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without thia information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castl", of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, & c., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY, Antrim, Description of the undernamed young offenders, who, on the 29th July, 1860, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast: — WILLIAM J. M ILROY, 16 years of age, brown hair, gray weak oyes, gray eyebrows, straight nose, ordinary mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium m- ke, 4 feet 10 inches hiph; is a farm boy, born at Belfast; his parents reside at 195, Urcey- street; Samuel Cross, 135, Argyle- street, is his uncle. Cut- mark on right eyebrow, cut- mark on left side of fore- head, dots cn both hands, also dot on back of left forearm. Dressed in a moleskin jacket, trowsers, and vest, Glengarry cap, blue and white striped shirt, and red and black check tie. JOHN BALIE, 17 years of age, black hair, dark brown eyes, brown eyebrows, regular nose, regular mouth, fresh co pi x on, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet high; is a farm boy, born at Bangor; his parents reside t 1, Church- street, Bangor. Scar on top of head, chicken- Chester , scar above right eyebrow. Dressed in a moleskin jacket, trowsers, and vest, Glengarry cap, blue aud white striped shirt, and red and black check tie. Both likely to hire with farmers. M'Ilroy has friends in Cookstown. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of their conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand and will reward the person who may capture them wiih £ 1 for each boy. 332 H. C. uei jurna # Description of JAMES STERLING ( mother's rname Campell), naiive of Belfast, who stands 1 with living, on the 10th of July in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill, forged a cheque for £ 6 8s., and receiving amount of same ;— Wore all his beard, which is dark, tinged with gray, dark eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark hair tinged with gray ; wore a low hard hat, dark coat, gray trowsers, and dark vest; is a dealer in empty casks and barrels. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, Belfast North. Belfast North, 22nd July, 1890. ( c, 79110.) JOHN BAILIE or BELL and WILLIAM J. M'ILROY ( young offenders), described in Hue- and- Cry of 3rd June last, not arrested. ( 317 H. C.) Armagh. Description of PATRICK COONEY, native of Ballintemple, whe left his home in the barony of Upper Fews, parish of Newtownhamilton, on 3rd July, 1890. He is of weak mind, and may have met with foul play:— Innocent looking, red wart on fore- head, blue eyes, thick ncse, fair complexion, round fat freckled face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 22 years of age, fair hair; wore a cap, gray tweed coat and vest. Armagh, 30th July, 1890. 3759 c.— 79427. Description of PATRICK CUMISKY, native of Crossmaglen, who stands charged with having, on the 7th day of July, 1890, in the barony of Upper Fews, parish of Creggan, attempted to rape a servant girl named Elizabeth Linden, at Carnally:— Scar on one of his temples, high cheek bones, shaves all his face except moustache which is dark, gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 32 years of age, dark hair; wore a cap, dark tweed coat, troweers, and vest; is a tramp, fiddler, and scutcher. Information sworn, and War- rant in the hands of District Inspector at Newry. Newry, 12th July, 1890. ( 3360 c— 73780.) Cork. Description of a MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 14th July, 1890, in the barony of Imokilly, parish of Midleton, fraudulently received the sum of £ 6 liar, from Michael C'Dwyer, ot Glenbarahane, county Limer- ick. by representing himself to be the agent of the owner of some pigs which O'Dwyer had bought from- Philip Hegarty, Ballinvoher, Cloyne :— Sallow complexion, thin short face, stout make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair, black moustache cut straight acrots with long ends, black whiskers ; wore a slightly faded hard low hat, mouse- coloured coat, trowsars and vest Warrant for arrest in hands of District Inspector, Midleton. Midleton, 18th July, 1890. ( 3512 c.— 79017). Description of DANIEL CARTY ( mother's sur- name Leary), native of Clounties, county Cork, who stands charged with having, on the night of 26th June, 1890, in the barony of W. D. E. Carbery, parish of Fanlobbus, unlawfully assaulted, beaten, and inflicted grievous bodily harm on Michael Walsh, of Clounties, in county of Cork:— Small dark moustache, dark eyes, regular nose, dark swarthy complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 23 years of age, dark hair; wore a soft flat cip, black coat, and frieze trowsers; is a labourer. Warrant in hands of the District- Inspector, R. I. C., Dunmanway. Dunmanway, 1st July, 1890. ( 3171 a— 78415.) Description of JOHN SHEEHAN ( mother's sur- name Sheehan), and JOHN BUCKLEY ( mother's surname M'Namara), natives of Killeen, who stand charged with having, on the 22nd day of May, 1890, in the barony of East Muskerry, parish of Matehy, been concerned, with others now in custody, in stealing seven sheep and five lambs, the property of hanorah Murphy, of Killeen:— 1. Gray eyes, short nose, fair complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 30 years ot ago, fair hair; wore a black cap, brown tweed coat, brown trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. 2. Dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, smart make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 24 years of ago, dark hair; wore a black cap, black coat, trowsers, and vest; was in America, and speaks with American accent; is a labourer. Warrant issued. Ballincollig, 11th June, 1890. ( 2658 c.— 77552.) Description of JOHN LANE, native of Carrig, county Cork, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd May, 1890, in the barony of Barrymore, parish of Ardnageehy, committed a rape on one Hannah O'Brien, a girl of 15 years of age Down- looking, shaves all his face, gray eyes, long thin nose, fair com- plexion, thin face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair, ha* a fresh cut on the back of the head caused by a blow of a stone; wore a hard black hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son, and jobs in sheep and cattle. Will endeavour to emigrate. Warrant issued. Fermoy, 1890. ( 2471 c 77209.) JAMES M'CARTHY ( stealing she; p), described in issue of 24th June, not arrested. ( 2016 c.-*>- 76368.) Donegal. Description of JOHN M'CANN, native of Cork, who stands charged with having, on the 7th day of June, 1890, in the barony of Banagb, parish of Inver, fired at and wounded one Bridget Gallagher, at Meen- tucahan, in said county:— One front tooth out in upper left jaw, brown eyes, cocked nose, swarthy com- plexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 88 years of age, dark brown hair turning gray; wore a gray tweed two peak cap, old light- coloured tweed coat, tweed trowsers, and old worn shoes, no stockings; is a tramp, no occupation. TUMNEY ( assault), described in Hue- and- Cry of 6th May ; not arrested. ( 99681 c.— 73233). Dublin. Particulars restive to Convict JAMES BYRNE, 0. 9, convicted at Dublin City Sesions, on 1st October, 1885, for larceny from person, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 27 years of age on con- viction, fin le; is a shoemaker; born at Kingstown, resided in Dublin before conviction :-*- Black hair, blue eyes, dark eyebrow? long tl in o ? e, sm .11 mouth, fresh complexion, ov I visage, fdig!. < make, 5 feet If inches h » gb, brown flesh mark on left elbow, cut scar over right eyebrow. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on 25th September, 1889, and went to reside in Dublin. He left the North Dublin Union without reporting himself to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. He was seen selling racing cards at the Curragh on 24th ult. In the event of bis arrest he should be dealt with under ace. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 331 H. C.) Galway. Description of JOHN HEAPHY, native of Fermoy, county Cork, who stands charged with having, on the 26th June, 1890, in the barony of Kiltartan, parish of Kilmacduagh, absconded, em- bezzling tho sum of 14i. Id. from his employer, Mr. Miohael M'Carthy, of Gort:— Right eye bloodshot, full brown beard, small eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 40 years of age, brown lair; wore a round brown hat, much worn, faded brown coat, blue trowsers; is a profes- sional tramp. Warrant in the hands ol the District Inspector at Gort for his arrest. Gort, 28th June, 1890. ( 3076 78254.) Kerry. Description of ELLEN HURLEY, native o* Clabane, who stands charged with having, on the 7th July, 1890, in the barony of Trughenack my, parish ol Tralee, stolen a female donkey ( described under head- ing " Animals Stolen,") the property of Thomas Spring, Esq., Coroner of Tralee - Middle aged and speaks with a strong Kerry accent, gray eyes, cocked nose, pale c mplexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair; sells sugarstick and sweets at fairs and murkets. Warrant for her arrest is in the hands of the police at Tralee. Tralee, 10th July, 1890. ( 3337 c.— 78744). RODGER SPILLANE ( serious assault), described in Hue- and- Cry of 13th May, not arrested. ( 1808 c.— 75957.) MATHEW LEARY ( juvenile absconder), des- cribed in Hue- and- Cry of 13th May, not arrested. ( 1292 74969.) Kildare. Description of CHARLES DOHERTY, native of kingsbog, who stands charged with having, on the night of 26th June, 1890, in the barony of East Offaly, parish of Kildare, attacked the dwelling- house of John Hanbridge, of Brallistown, with intent to do the owner bodily hurm;— Gray eyes, regular nose, callow com- plexion, sunken faco, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair; wore a soft black hat, dark coat, dark tweed trowsers, and dark vest; is a labourer. Kildare, 28th June, 1890. ( 3077 c.~ 78255.) Description of Sapper JOHN EGLESTON, 22,802, 17th Battalion, Field Company, Royal Engineers, who absented himself without ieave from the Curragh Camp, on 7th June, 1880 .•—. Vaccination mark on left aria, scar on right side of head, blue eyes, ligv t brown hair, fresh complexion, 5 feet 6$ inches high, 22 years of age; dressed in regimentals; is a carpenter; born in the parish of St. Peter's, Dublin, and enlisted at Birr. JAMES MAHER ( cattle stealing), Hue- and- Cry, 4th July, not arrested. ( 1997 c 76334.) PATRICK BURKE ( arson), described in Hue- aud Cry of 13th May, not arretted4 ( 579 c— 73574.) King's. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on Sunday, the 6th July, 1890, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School at King's County:— THOMAS SHERLOCK, No. 1,073, 19 or 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 incites high, slight r. alia, pale complexion, dark bro rn hair, weak brown eye?, long nose, small mouth, oval visage, two middle toes of right foot stuck toge. her; dressed in a soft felt hat, blue serge jacket, cord roy trowsers and vest, Blucher boots. Formerly belonged to 56, Beresford- street, Dublin. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his convex ancc, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 330 H. C.) Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 30th June, 1890, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory Schoo', at King's County:— MARTIN CROWLEY, No. 1,310, 17 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, strong make but not stout, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyes; formerly belonged to Kilrush, county Clare, where his father resides; little finger off left hand. The school dress consists of moleskin trowser?, black moleskin vest, corduroy jacket, leather leggings ( at time of leaving), Glengarry cap, Bluchcr boots. The boy is believed to be now tramping in country parts barefooted. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if airested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £\. ( 328 H. C. BRIDGET SHEEHY ( arson), described in Hue- and- Cry of 6th May; not arrested. C594 73615.) Londonderry. Particulars relative to Convict GEORGE WALKER, c 62, convicted at Londonderry Quarter Sessions, on the 4th June, l886, for burglary, and Sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude :— 52 yea) s of age on convict ion, single; is a labourer; born at Londonderry, where he resided before conviction; his friends reside at Rosemount, Londonderry:— Brown hair, blue eyes, sandy eyebrows, large nose, small mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches higb, bald on top of head, cut mark on right temple. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on 31st May, 1890, and went to Londonderry. He failed to make his usual monthly report on 30th ult., to the R. I. C. at Rosemonnt, Londonderry, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sea. 5 of 34 and 35 Via., cap. 112. ( 323 H. C.) SAMUEL CANNING ( stealing), described in Hue- and- Cry of 13th May, not arrested. JANE M'MULLAN, described in issue of 28th March, 1890, not arrested. ( 550 c— 73518.) Louth. Description of TWO MEN, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the hight of 2fst or morning of 22nd instant, in the barony of Upper Dundalk, parish of Haggardstown, stolen the following articles from the Roman Catholic Chapel of Haggardstown:— A silver chalice, ciborium, silver spoon, and collecting plate:— 1. Stooped shoulders, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 60 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore a bla k frock coat, light trowsers, and vest. 2. Fall face, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair, sandy moustache; wore a short black coat, white moleskin trowsers, light vest. Dundalk, 26th May, 1890. Description of MICHAEL MURPHY, native ' of Mountmellick ( name and native place supposed fictitious), who stands charged with having, on the 24th July, 1890, at • Jamestown, in the barony of Portnahinch, parish of LEA, unlaw- fully and forcibly broken into the dwelling- house of Patrick Carroll, and did take, steal, and carry away a coat and trowsers ( since recovered ), value for about ten shillings:— Left eye small or cl sed, red face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 50 years of age; wore a hard dark hat, darS cost, light tweed trowsers; looks like a boatman. Maryboro', 28th July, 1890. 3725 c.— 79366. Roscommon. Description of a MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on tho 18th day of July, 1890, in the barony if Castlerea, parish of Baslick, stolen the sura of £ 6 13.< 3d. from the dwelling- house of Patrick Walder, of Lisolway. He obtained admission to the house by stating ha was a plan of campaign agent and that the police were in pursuit of him; it has since been leaned tbat this man imposed on another farmer in the same manner a few weeks ago Smart active appearance, brown eyes, regular nost, fresh complexion, r;> und f ice, stout make, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 26 3 ears of age, dark brown hair; wore a biown felt ha:, bljck cloth coat, trowsers and vest of saxr. e material; had a watch and chain, rather respectable looking. Description of JOHN M'DERMOTT, native of Drumfad, who stands charged with having, on the 26th May, 1890, in the barony of Carbury, parish of Rosinver, stolen three head of cattle, the property of Mrs. Anne Dwyer, whieh have since been recovered:— Sallow complexion, thin face, stunt muke, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 50 years of age, slightly bald; wore a soft hit, black necktie, and gray frieze coat; is a small farmer. Warrant in the hands of the police. Sligo, 4th June, 1890. ( 2526 c— 77304). Description of MICHAEL WALSH ( mother's surname Casey), native cf Cashelduff, county Mayo, who stands charged with having, on the 15th May, 1890, in the barony of Leyney, parish of Achonry, and townland of Curry, unlawfully assaulted James Feely, thereby placing his life in danger:— Smart ctive appearance, gray eyes regular nose pale com- plexion. regular face, medium make, 5 ftet 8 inches high, about 18 years of age, dark hair; wore a white tweed cap with peak, gray tweed coat, trousers, and vest; is a labourer. Tipperary. , Description of MARTIN MAHER native of Capparoe, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on- the 21st July, 1890 in t/ ie barony of Owney and Arra, parish of Burgesbeg, stolen 4 head of 1 ^- year- old cattle, which, have been since recovered:— Small tender ejes, small cocked nose, sallow complexion, small face, active > ke, 5 feet 6 inches high, aVout 25 years of age, no beard ; wore a tweed cap, dark brown tweed coat, trowser, and vest, laced boots; is a labourer. Warrant in the hands of the Police. Clones, 25th July, 1880. ( 605 c.~ 258), THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, AUGUST 1, 1890. Description of EDMOND FARRELL, native of Killenaule, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd March, 1890, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Kelick Murry, hid in his possession, knowing tbora to have been stolen, two asses, value £ 2 10s. ( s nee recovered), and the property of John Hogan :— Gray or bine eyes, regular nose, very fresh complexion, thin hardy face, medium make, about 5 feet 7 inc'e? high, about 27 years of age, f ur hair, face all sisaven except small sandy meustache; wore a tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, tweed vest. This man generally wears a silver coloured watch chain, but has no watch attached. He belongs to the Army Reserve, and has a soldier- like appearance. Warrant in hands cf the police. Dundrum, 11th April, 1890. ( d. 75599.) Tyrone. PATRICK SHARKEY ( rape), described in Hue- and- Cry of 13th May, not arrested. ( 517 c— 73739.) Waterford. Description of MICHAEL POWER, of no fixed residence, who stands charged with having, on the morning of the 16th May, 1? 90, in the barony of Upperthird, parish of Dysert, felonionsly broken into the dwelling- house of Ellen Mara, at Kildraughtane, and indecently assaulted her therein :— Gray eyes, regnlar nose, fresh complexion, oval face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 45 years of age, fair hair turning gray, and sandy whiskers and moustache turning gray, chin shoved; wore a hard felt hat much worn, old gray tweed coat much too large, old tweed trowsers lighter color than coat, no vest; is a labourer. Information sworn and Warrant issued and ia the hands of the Police at Carrickbeg. Portlaw, 18th May, 1890. ( 2243c— 76764.) Westmeath. Description of TWO MEN, names unknown, who stand charged with having, in company with Thomas Bracken ( arrested), on the 25th June, 1890, in the barony of Corkaree, parish of Rathconnell, assaulted one Patrick Commer, and robbed him of the sum of £ 1 15*., consisting of one pound note with " Parsons" written on back of it, also a bit out of one corner, a half sovereign, and five shillings in silver :— 1.
