HUE RBOIXIiATZONB. fST All Notices intended for insertion In the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated, by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- GeneraL Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of jtersons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. V Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the au lition of Gaols, Stations, < fcc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry" no longer necessary. Description of THOMAS M'CURLEY, native of Ligoniel, who stands charged with having, on the 16th day of November, 1889, in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill, assaulted Constable Francis O'Brien while in the execution of his duty:— Brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round full face, very stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 25 years of age, sandy hair 5 wore a black oap, dark coat, trowsers, and vest. Description of JAMES FITZPATRICK, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd December, 1889, in the barony of Clankee, parish of Bailieboro', absconded and stolen £ 4 in gold, the property of his master, Edward Clysdall:— Short thick nose, red complexion, round face, medium make, 4 feet 8 or 10 inches high, about 15 or 16 years of age ; wore a brown cap with one peak, bright tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a servant Information sworn and Warrant issued. M'Cabe:— Very slight make, black moustache, hooked nose, thin features, rather good looking, smart appearance, carried a stick, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 19 years of age; wore a soft black felt hat, dark clothes, red and black woollen gloves, purple muffler round his neck. Description of CORNELIUS O'BRIEN ( mother's surname Malone), native of Lackamota, who stands charged with having, on the 9 th Dec on r, 1889, in the barony of Ibrickane, parish of Kilfarboy, com- mitted a rape on Honor Howard ; v— Ilolds down his head, turns in his toes when walking ; small prying blue eyes, long thin nose, fresh complexi n, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 34 years of age, dark hair ; wore a soft black hat, dark sack coat, dark tweed trowsers, and dark tweed vest; is a small farmer. Description of MICHAEL CONNELL ( mother's surname Mary Sheehan), native of Courtbrack, who stands charged with having, en the 26th day of De- cember, 1889, in the barony of Barretts, parish of Grenagh, fired two shots at Alexander Fitzpatrick, caretaker on the evicted farm at Ballyfadeen:— Was in America, speaks with an American accent, dark moustache, dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 26 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard round hat, sometimes wears a black cap, dark tweed coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a carpenter. Will probably try to emigrate. Warrant in the possession of Sergt. Brosnan, R. I. C., Blarney. Ballincollig, 31st Dec., 1889. ( 28 0— 72619). Kildare. Description of MICHAEL M'GUIRE, native of Portarlington, who stands charged with having, on the 25th November, 1889, in the barony of West Offally, parish of Monasterevan, stolen 23 calves from Jeremiah Sexton, of Cork Recent cut on nose, blue • yes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 35 years of age, dark hair; wore a soft light- coloured tennis hat, brown sack coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest. Is a cattle drover. The calves have been found. Kildare, 28th November. 1889. ( 99840 71538.) King's. Particulars relative to convict JAMES WILSON, A94, who has broken the conditions of his licence, convicted at Birr, King's County, on 8th October, 1879, for assault and robbing from the person after conviction for felony, and sentenced to 12 years' penal servitude:— 50 years of age on conviction, single, is a baker, born at Bandon, resided before con- viction at Roscrea; gray hair, gray eyes, light brown eyebrows, thick nose, bridge fiat, large mouth, thick lips, sallow complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 7} inches high ; scar on ball of left thumb, and several on top of head, cupping mark on left breast, large wart on right elbow. This man was released on licence from Mountjoy Prison, 7th December, 1888. He left his lodgings, No. 4, Samuel- street- court, Bel- fast, on the 30th ult., without notifying same, and his present whereabouts cannot be ascertained. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 297 H. C.) Description of THOMAS WALSH, native of Ferns, county Wexford, who stands charged with having, on the night of 7th or morning of 8th No- vember, 1889, in the barony of Geashill, pariah of Geashill, stolen £ 4 15s. 6d. from the dwelling- house of John Kelly, of Killinmore ;— Long nose, red com- plexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 45 years of age, fair hair, sandy whiskers cut short and turning gray ; wore a tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, and tweed vest; is an itinerant labourer. THE POLICE GAZETTE, OE HUE- AHD- CRY, JANUARY 7, 1890. f Description of JOHN CONNOR, native of Athlone, who stands charged with having, on the 26th day of October, 1889, in the barony of Ballycowan, parish of Kilbride, stolen £ 3 from tike house of John Molloy, of Ballydaly, where he was employed as a servant :— Slight halt, scarcely perceptible, in left foot; gray eyes, short thin nose, reddish complexion, small face, boyish looking, stout make, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, abont 24 years of age, brown hair, face all shaved except slight brown moustache; wore a two- peaked cap, brown tweed jacket, tweed trowsers with whitish ( tripes, and light tweed rest; is enployed as a ploughman and labourer by small farmers, and is in Roscommon Militia. Information sworn and Warrant in hands of District Inspector at Tullamore. Tullamore, 1st Nov., 1889. ( 99370 c.— 70636.) Description of RICHARD HYLAND, native of Brackna, who stands charged with having, on or about 7th October, 1889, at Brackna, in the barony of Coolestown, parish of Clonsast, stolen a heifer, the property of Edward Campion, of Brackna:— Walks with a stoop j gray eye?, thick nose, pale sallow com plexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 60 years of age; wore a hard round hat, frieze coat, corduroy trowsers. Longford. Description of MICHAEL GORDON, native of Kingscourt, county Cavan, who stands charged with having, on the 20th November, 1889, and sundry other dates, in the barony of Ardagh, parish of Teosple- michael, embezzled various sums amounting to upwards of £ 30 sterling, from the Singer Sewing Machine Company:— Leans forward when walking, stooped rounded shoulders, gray tender eyes, largd nose, florid complexion, round full face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 27 years of age, fair hair, slight saudy moustache, small side mutton- chop whiskers; wore a round hard black hat, black coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest. Is an agent for the Singer Manu- facturing Company. Longfocd, 23rd Nov., 1889. ( 99750 c.— 71380.) Description of MICHAEL HIGGINS, of no fixed residence, who stands charged with having, on the 10th day of November, 1889, in the barony of Longford, parish of Cloonguish, stabbed Michael Quinn, thereby endangering his life:— Very stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 35 years of age, dark curly hair; is a shoemaker. Description of THOMAS M'MANUS ( mother's surname Griffin), native of Drumlish, who stands charged with having, on the 15th day of October, 1889, in the barony of Longford, parish of Killoe, stolen a cow, the property of James M'Nally, of Drumlish ( oow value for £ 11) Gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 42 years of age, fair hair; wore a round black hat, white frieze coat brown tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer and cattla dealer. Description of JAMES CULLUM, native of Larkfield, who stands charged with having, on the 28th day of October, 1889, in the barony of Granard, parish of Columbkill, stabbed Francis Brady, of Lark- fleld, in the b- tck, from tho etfeots of which his life is now in danger:— Dark heavy ejebrows, slovenly gait, leans forward when walking, down- looking appearance, small dark moustache, gray eyes, long thin nose, dark sallow complexion, long thin fase, medium make, 6 feet 1 inch high, about 28 or 30 years of age, dark hair slightly tinged with gray; wore a hard hat, orown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, Wellington boots; is a farmer's son. Granard, 30th October, 1889. ( 99334 c.— 70565.) Loath. Description of FREDERICK MULLIGAN, native of Dublin, who stands obarged with having, on the 17th day of November, 1889, at Drogheda, in the barony of Upper Duleek, parish of St. Mary's, by false pretences obtained a number of carpenter's tools, viz. >— 4 planes, 5 saws, 9 chisels. 3 gimlets, 2 hammers, and 1 hatchet, all marked " S. Martin," value £ 3 10 « ., the property of one Stephen Martin:— Tattooed on right arm, blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, long face, medium moke, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 32 years of ige, brown hair, fair moustache; wore a round hard hat, dark coat, white plaid trowsers, and tweed vest. It> a tramping carpenter. Warrant for arrest in hands of D. I., Drogheda. Drogheda, 21st November, 1889. ( 99709. c— 71302.) Mayo. Description of MICHAEL M'ENTYRE ( mother's surname Nally), native of Dereens, who stands charged with having, on the 14th December, 1889, in the barony of Carra, parish of Drumm, grievously assaulted one Martin Londra, by striking him with a stick, and destroying the sight of one of his eyes:— Rather high cheek bones; brown eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 23 years of age, fa'r hair : wore a hard black hat, dark frieze coat, old dark trowsers, and dark vest; got a new suit of common gray tweed lately, which he may be wearing; is a labourer. Supposed to have slight sprouting fair moustache, and some scattered hairs on cheeks. This man worked as a labourer in England lately, and is likely to return there. The District Inspector R. I. C., Castle- bar, holds a Warrant for his arrest. Castlebar, 23rd Dec., 1889. ( 100200 c.— 72213.) Description of a MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, oa the 13th December, 1889, in the barony of Carra, parish of Islandeady, assaulted and threatened to shoot Thomas Hopkins, gamekeeper, at Doogarry, who attempted to prevent him poaching:— Military appearance and demeanour as if drilled, smart and active, pale complexion, thin face, median make, 6 feet high, about 40 years of age; wore a dark twee i two- peaked cap, gray tweed sack coat; had long red Castlebar, 15th Dac., 18S9. ( 100131 c.- 72102.) Description of CHARLES TAYLOR, native of Bristol, England, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd December, 1889, in the barony of Carra, parish of Aglish, townland of Gurteenadrinagh, stolen a " Gladstone" bag, the property of Lieutenant C. Throckmorton, and a suit of clothes, the property of Lieutenant J. Lock, Royal Welsh Fusiliers:— Smart active appearance, prominent upper front teeth; gray eyes, thin nose, fresh complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 23 years of age, fair hair; wore a light tweed coat, trowsers, aud vest, coat short, also wore a pair of brown kid gloves; is a private soldier in Royal Welsh Fusiliers, officer's servant This man is strongly suspected of having stolen a sum of money which was taken out of an officer's bed- room on the same ipght that this man disappeared, 3rd instant. Description of PATRICK COLEMAN, alias TRAMP COLEMAN, native of Longwood, county Meath, who stands charged with having, on the 20th or 21st November, 1889, in the barony of Lower Moyfeuragh, parish of Rathcare, stolan three calves ( since recovered), the property of Peter Boyne, Long- wood:— Smart active appearince, square shoulders, high cheeked bones, s'ight stoop when walking, hazel eyes, thin cocked nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 20 years of age ; wore a round hard black hat, dark brown tweeii coat, dark tweed trowsers, and dark brown tweed vest; is a stable- boy. He has a good knowledge of horsvj, and may be found in the neighbourhood of Mullingar or the Curragh employed as stable- boy, or may endeavour to emigrate to America. Gave hii naae as Dixon when selling the calves. Warrant issued. Trim, 7th December, 1889. ( 99993 c 71863.) Description of TERENCE M'CONNELL, native of Rathdrina, who stands charged with having, on the 25th day of November, 1889, in the barony ot. Lower Duleek, parish of Knockcommon, stolen a cow, the pro iorty of Isabella Carpenter, which ha is supposed to have sold at Collon fair, county Louth, on same date:— Slovenly gait, dark eyes, slightly cocked nose, dark sallow complexion, oval face, • nediun mike, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 23 years of age, black hair ; wore a gray dust- coat, g- ay tweed trowjers anl tweed vest. Is a stable boy. Navan, Ist December. 1889. ( 99871 71307.) Monaghan. Inscription of OWEN M'ARDLE ( mother's sur- name connory), native of Lattonfaskey, who stands charged with having, on tha night of 3 Ist De'embe^, 1889, in the barony of Cremorne, parish of Aghna- mullan, stolen two heifers, the property of Edward M'Ardle, value for £ 15, from off the lands of Bin- more :— Swaggering gait, high shoulders, has the appearance of a farmer; dark eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, full face, very stmt make, 5 feet 8 inohes high, about 29 years of age, dark hair; wore a soft low hat, bright tweed coat, drab trowsers and vest; is a blacksmith. Carrickmacross, 5th Jan., 1S90. ( 69 c.— 72696.) Description of JAMES TRAINOR, native of Tydavnett, county Monaghan, who stands charged with having, on or about the 4th December, 1889, in the barony of Cremorne, parish of ^^•. ity, ab sconded from the employment of his JJPBr, John Johnston, tea dealer, of Ballybay, takifc* with him about 24 pounds of tea, intrusted to him by his master for delivery to purchasers, and& bout £ 12 in cash re- ceived by him for his master:— Round shoulders, shuffling gait, flat feet: blue eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet high, about 32 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark coat, tweed trowsers and vest, rfmall fair moustache, no beard or whiskers; is a pastry cook or baker. This man was sent out by his master on the 25th November last with a pony and trap to deliver tea to customers in and around Arva, county Cavan, and on the 4th instant he left the pony and trap at the houss of a man named James Gormly, of Carnadrung, near Arva, county Cavan, saying he would be back next day, hut did not return. Clones, 10th Dec., 1889. ( 100057 C.— 71980.) Description of JAMES DUFFY ( mother's sur- name Kirk), native of Carrickmacross, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd December, 1889, in the barony of Farney, parish of Carrickmacross, assaulted Constable James Harte, R. I. Constabu- lary:— Tattooed on both arms, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of age, brown hair; wore a tweed cap with peak, dark brown coat, tweed trowsers and vest; served in the Army, from which he has been discharged. He was summoned to Petty Sessions to answer the charge; he did not attend, and a Warrant has bean issued for his arrest. Carrickmacross, 8th Dec., 1889. ( 99992 c.— 71862.) Sligo. Description of JOHtf HOPKINS, native of Thurles, " ho stands charged with having, on the 10th February, 1888, in the town of Cappoquin, got married to a woman named Judith Cormack, his lawful wife being alive at the time:— blind of an eye, one foot flat result of an injary, was in the army, dark complexion, medium make, 5 jfeet 7 inches high, about 50 years of age, dark hair, reddish whiskers; is a tramp and gathers rags in south and west of Ireland. Is accompanied by Judith Cormaek, who is also blind of aa eye and of small stature. If observed, informa- tion should be at once sent to the D. I. at Nenagh. Nenagh, 23rd November, 1889. ( 99752' c.— 71382.) Description of MICHAEL MOLONEY, alias MICHAEL M'MAHON, alias JOHN BYRNE, alias MICHAEL WHITE, native of Feakle, county Clare, who stands charged on suspicion, with havini on the night of 20th October, 1889, at Gurtlassobrien in the barony of Owney and Arra, parish of Temple- chally, stolen three head of cattle, tho property of Hugh Garahee :— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 46 years of age, brown hair, turning gray; is a stonecutter, but latterly acts as a cattle drover, and' attends fairs. This maa has baen several times convicted for cattle stealing, and is a returned convict on ticket- of- leave, who has failed to report himself. Newport, 31st Oct., 1889 ( 99277 c.— 70464.) Description of EDMOND CROWE, native of Cutteen, who s'ands charged with having, on the night of 22nd or morning of 23rd October 1889, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Sologheadbeg, stolen four calves ( since recovered), the property of Thomas Crowe, which he sold in fair ot Newport, county Tipperary, on 23rd October, 1889:— Smart active appearance, respectable looking, dresses very tastily, gray eyes, straight nose, fresh complexion, oval face, smart make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair; wore a light- coloured overcoat, light tweed trowsers, and vast; has the appearance of a jockey; is a farmer'i1 son. Description of JOHN COFFEY, native of Gurt- mullen, who stand? charged with having, on the 5th July, 1889, at Gurtmullen, in the barony of Ikerrin,' parish of Roscrea, indecently assaulted one Maggie Coonan, and having been admitted to bail failed tq appear at Nenagh Quarter Sessions, on 2nd October 1889:— Gray eyes, regular nose, swarthy complexion^ thin face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 20. years of age; wore a dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Description of PATRICK GLEESON, native of Mohir, who stands charged with having, on the 29th June, 1889, in the baiony of Kilmanagh Upper, parish of Upperchurch, seriously assauled James Corbitt and Michael Quinn, from t ~~ Corbitt's life is now in dange^ H> and has absconded:— Gray ' eyes, i complexion, soft round face, stout about 22 years oi age, brown hair; wore a large sott hat, gray tweed coat, trowserc, and vest; is a farmer's son. This man may endeavour to emigrate. Warrant for his arrest in hands of police at Snehevrie. Description of LAURENCE O'DONNELL, native of Lyre East, wh > stands charged with having, on the 27th September, 1889, in the barony of Coshmore and Coshbride, parish of Lismore, grievoasly assaulted one James O'Donnell:— Gray eyes, cocked nose, sandy complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 7£ inches high, about 23 years of age, light brown hair, small sandy moustache, no beard or whiskers; wore a tweed ooat, troWsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Description of JAMES POWER, native of Balls- bridge, Dabliu, who stands charged with having, on the morning of the 8th December, 1889, in the barony of Newcastle Upper, parish of Newcastle Upper, stolen from James Byrne a dark frieze overcoat, much worn, double- breasted, with corners rounded at bottom, a dark pilot frock coat, a dark tweed trowsers and waistcoat with sleeves, a waistcoat, light colour, with sleeves, and a white chip hat, all valne for abont £ 5:— Tattooed with star on back of left hand, crucifix above left elbow, and several letters or marks on same hand, large gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, rou id fat face, rather stoat make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 19 or 20 years of age; wore a soft jvhite bat, light tweed coat, jacket make, tweed trowsers and vest; is a tramp. Description of TIMOTHY KELLY, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the night of 24th or morning of 25th September, 1889, in the barony of Newcastle, parish of Kilcoole, stolen a gray tweed coat and elastic side boots from John Maloney:— Old sores on upper lip and right cheek bone which he received in a fight lately, dark sunken watery eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 40 years of age, brown hair; wore a light tweed coat, dark trowsers; is a tramp. Wanted for stealing two post office orders, and obtaining cash on one by means of forgery at the General Post Office, on the 29th November, 1889, GEORGE LONSDALE:— Forty- seven years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, sandy hair and beard, sandy complexion, stifi about the knees, medium make; dressed in a snuff coloured check coat, knitted vest, blue trowsers, and felt hat. Particulars relative to convict JOHN SULLIVAN, A 841, convicted at Cork Spring Assizes, on 20. h March, 1884, for wounding and grievons bodily harm, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude:— 32 years of age on conviction, married, is a labourer; born at Cork; resided befoieconviction atFox's- street, Bandon where his friends reside; brown hair, getting bald, brown ayes, dark brown eyebrows, large nose, largo mouth, dark complexion, oval visage, stout make; 6 feet ^ inch high; crucifix on left arm; eagle, flag, anchor, and tomb of Napoleon on right arm; English coat of arms, lion, unicorn, and crown on breast. This man was released from mountjoy Prison on licence, 27th September, 1889. He notified his arrival in Cork to the R. LC. on the 3rd ult, aod gave his address as Barrack- street, but he has not since reported himself, and his present whereabouts is nn known. NEVILLE, photo- grapher, Owston Ferry, who stands charged on Warrant with having, on the 29th day of November, 1889, at the parish of Owston Ferry, feloniou sly stolen one quarter plate lens with double combination glass enclosed in brass tube, and one flange. The lens bears the initials of Ross and Co., Opticians, London ; the property of George Day; value £ 2 : — He is about 24 years of age, 5 feet 6 or Y inches high, pale complexion, brown hair, no whiskers or moustache, slim build; dressed in doable- breasted black cloth jacket, black vest, striped cloth trowsers, collar and light tie, gray hard felt hat, red socks, and lace- up i boots recently soled and heeled. Neville has a wife or sister residing with Mr. Goodman, 50, St Mary- street, Southampton. His been in the employment of Mr. Day about 4 months. Absconded on the 29th November, 1889; left Hax ; y Station by the 1 ' 31 train going to Doncaster. If found arrest and wire. Warrant issued. Wanted on Warrant, charged with stealing £ 1,314, tbe property of his employers, the Crawford Spinning Company ( Limited), Rochdale JAMES COUPE, manufacturer** salesman, living last at 62, Bank- street, Cheetham- hill, Manchester. He formerly lived at 7, Bennett- street, Crumpsall; he wai also at one time in business at Todmorden, Yorkshire, as a sizer and warper; a native of Preston; about 48 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, very busby light sandy hair, parted in the middle, had light coloured whiskers, moustache, and eyebrows, light coloured eyes, racher deep sank; a lowish forehead. This man's defalca- tions are very heavy, a charge of forgery will also be preferred against him by the Manchester City Police. He will endeavour to leave the country.
