TIOKN { T AH Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublirf Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication.* No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged, with an offence of thia nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. * » • Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without thia information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the Abolition of Qaols, Stations, Sic., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. Description of JAMES PATTERSON ( mother's surname Lamont) native of Culdoo, who stands charged with having, on the 25th June, 1889, in the barony of Upper Dunluce, parish of Ballymoney, committed an indecent assault and attempted to commit rape on Annie Guthrie, 22 years of age, seamstross; warrant issued, and remains in hand of D. I. at Ballymoney:— Pimples on faoe, very downcast appearance, gray eyes, regular nose, very swarthy complexion, long thin face, slender make, 5 leet 6 inches high, about 19 year* of age, light brown hair; wore a black cap, poak in front, or Boft hat, dark tweed frook coat, dark tweed trowsers, dark ve9t; is a weaver. Ballymoney, 4th July, 1889. ( 96936 66340.) Description of tho undernamed young offenders, who, on the 28th June, 1889, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— 1. ANDREW GRAHAM, 17 years of age, light brown hair, gray eyes, light eyebrows, regular nose, regular mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, 4 feet 9 inches high; is a tailor, born at Partick, Scotland, formerly belonged to Belfast, his parents reside at 43 Parker- stroet, Ballymacarrett, Belfast. Scar under each eye, bluo dot on each hand near thumb. Dressed in a dark tweed jacket, trowsers, and vest, "^ Glengarry cap, bine striped shirt, red and black check , Bloucher boots, and woollen stockings. WILLIAM STEWART, 16 years of age, datk hair, blue eyes, thin eyebrows, regular nose, open " « wutb, frosh complexion, oval visage, medium make, 4 feet' 11 inches high; is a farm boy, born at Glasgow, formerly belonged to Low- road, Lisburn j uncle resides at Low- road, Lisburn. Scar on right side of nose, eyes a little turned, furtive look. Dressed in a dark tweed jacket, trowsers, and vest, Glengarry cap, blue striped - shirt, red and black check tie, Bloucher boots, and woollen stockings. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of their conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture them with £ 1 for each boy. Description of DANIEL KANE, alias BEVER- LAND ( mother's surname Kane), native of Coleraine, county Londonderry, who stands charged with having, on the 13th May, 1889, at Ballymena, in the barony of Lower Toome, parish of Kirkinriola, stolen the sum of £ 3 sterling, in single notes, from the dwelling- house of Bernard Cunning:— Burn marks on left side of neck; dark eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, oval face, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 28 years of age, fair hair; wore a black cloth cap with peak, dark tweed coat, moleskin trowsers, and dark tweed vest; is a labourer. The District Inspector at Ballymena holds a Warrant for his arrest. Ballymena, 29th May, 1889. ( 96247 c.— 64992.) ' Belfast. Particulars relative to English Supervisee JOHN M'CALL, otherwise HUGH LAPPING, otherwise THOMAS MOORE, otherwise PATRICK O'DONALD, convicted at Birkenhead Sessions, on the 23rd July, 1886, for stealing a coat, pipe, and two handkerchiefs, and sentenced to 6 calendar months' hard labour and 5 years' police supervision :— 30 years of age on conviction, single, is a slater, born at Belfast, and resided before conviction at South Anne- street, Liverpool; black hair, blue eyes, fresh complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 3 inches high, blue dot between left thumb, and forefinger, cut on back of left thumb squints right eye, several small moles right of back. This Supervisee left his residence, 55 Divis- street, Belfast, on the 28th ultimo, without reporting to the R. I. C., and his present whereabouts is unknown. ( 248 H. C.) Cavan. Description of MATHEW M'DONNELL ( mother's surname Rudden), native of Drumavrack, who stands charged with having, on the 29th of June, 1889, in the barony of Tullygarvey, parish of Armagh, in- decently assaulted Catherine Hegarty:— Small fair moustache, blue or gray eyes, regular nose, fair com- plexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 24 years of age, fair hair; wore a tweed cap, black ( jacket- make) coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest; is a farm servant. A warrant for his arrest is in the hands of the Redhills Constabulary. Cavan, 7th Juljx 1889. ( 97089 c.— 66567.) Cork. Description of TWO MEN, names and native places unknown, who stand chatged with having, on the night of 9th or morning of 10th June, 1889, in the barony of Condons and Clangibbon, parish of Templemolaga, stolen three bullock calves, the property of John Hennessy, from off his lands at Kilclooney:— 1. Dark complexion, thin face, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 50 years of age ; wore old black clothes; looked like a low butcher or jobber. 2. Dark complexion, thin face, 5 feet 8 inches high, • bout 24 years of age; wore a white straw hat with black band, old dark sack coat, old dark trowsers, dark vest; looked like a low butcher or jobber. These men were seen in locality on 9th June about 6 A. M. They had a small bay horse with red painted cart and rail. About II A. M. on 10th June they were met near town of Midleton having three calves in cart answering description of stolen ones. Cart is supposed to be one described in Hue- and- Cry, county Limerick, 14th June, 1889. Mitchelstown, 17th June, 1889. ( 96694 c.— 65780.) Description of MICHAEL CONNOR, native of Berrings, who stands charged with having, on the 10th June, 1889, in the barony of East Muskerry, parish of Ahabullogue, unlawfully stolen £ 20, composed of £ l0 in notes, £ 4 in silver, £ 4 in silver and a cheque for £ 2, the property of his master, John O'Keeffe, Miller, living at Brinny:— Awkward gait, brown eyes, cocked nose, reddish complexion, short round face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 28 years of age, dark early hair, and dark side- whiskers $ he wore dirty brown tweed clothes, which he is supposed to have got rid of, and got a new suit and new soft hat; is a driver of a dray. Particulars relative to Convict MICHAEL M'GRATH, A 646, convicted at Cork Winter Assizes, on the 15th December, 1882, for burglary, and sentenced to 8 years' penal servitude; 43 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer, born at Kilmedan, county Waterford :— Black and gray hair, hazel eyes, black eyebrows, regular nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, large scar on left side. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on licence, 12th March, 1889, and went to reside at 27, Barrack- street, Dublin. He recently left his residence, 45, Benburb- street, without notifying change to Metro- politan Police and' his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his unrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 249 H. C.) Description of MICHAEL DENNEHY ( mother's surname. Brien), native of Carrigdownane, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 28th April, 1889, in the barony of Fermoy, parish of Bridgetown, criminally assaalted one Margaret Roche, and attempted to commit a rape on her, at Kilquane, in said county:— Nose much deformed as if broken, hlue or gray eyes, thin nose, sandy complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 45 or 50 years of age, sandy hair ; wore an old black jerry hat, old dark patched coat, dark tweed trowsers, dark vost; ia a farm labourer. This man's father is in Fermoy Union Workhouse. He generally works with farmers as an ordinary labourer. The Sergeant at Castletown- roche holds a Warrant for his arrest. Description of WILLIAM ROCHE ( mother's surname Donoghoe\ native of Gurtarahilly, who • stands charged with having, 09 the 7th day of March, 1889, in the barony of West Muskerry, parish of Ballyvourney, assaulted Edmund Sweeney, of Gurtarahilly, so as to endanger his life:— Slightly lame in right leg, it having been broken above anlde, brown eyes, cockcd nosev fresh complexion, full and fat face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, abuut 22 years of age, black hair; wore a black hat, dork brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Description of TWO MEN, names and native places unknown, who* stand charged with having, on tho 28th April, 1889, in tho barony of Duhallow, parish of Clonfert, entered the house of William Larkin, of Milleenduff- Rockchapel, and fired 2 shots therein, one of which took effect in the right thigh of 4is wife and wounded her seriously :— 1. Nose turned down a little at top, has impediment in his speech; small noso, thin face, slender make, 6 feet 6 inches high,. about 24 years of age, no beard or whiskers, very slight fair moustache; wore a gray two- peaked cap, blue sack coat, dark trowsers and vest. 2. Gray eyes, dark complexion, pale face, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 20 years of age, no beard, whiskers, or moustache; wore a low soft hat with broad leaf. Kanturk, 1st May, 1889. ( 95818 c— 64201.) Description of THOMAS CONNORS, native of Gurtroo ( mother's surname Daly), who stands charged with having, on tho night of the 14th April, 1889, in the baronv of Imokilly, parish of Clonpriest, attacked a dwellinghouse, and threatened to murder:— No beard or whiskers, gray eyes, regular nose, yellow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair; woro a two- peaknei cap, dark tweod coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Description of THOMAS FAHERTY, native of Shamboulard, who stands charged with having, on the 4th day of June, 1889, in the barqny ot Ballinahinch, parish of Ballinakill, counselled, aided, and abetted ono Martin Faherty, his nephew, of Letterfrack, to commit an indecent assault on ono Mary Nelly, of Lctterfrack;— Full brown beard tinged with gray, bald on top of hoad, gray eyes, long thin noso, fresh complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 40 years of age, brown hair j wore a hard brown hat, gray tweed frock coat, gray trowsers, and tweed vest. Is caretaker of Shamboulard House, dismissed policeman from Dublin Metropolitan Police. Sergeant M'Hale, Cleggan, holds Warrant for his arrest. . Clifden, 27th June, 1889. ( 96714 c.— 66187), Description of JOHN MITCHELL ( mother's sur- name Donelan, native of Cloonlara South, who stands charged with having, on tho 2nd of May, 1889, at Glenamaddy, in the barony of Ballymoe, parish « of Beyounagh, seriously assaulted Michael M'Guire, of Ballyhard :— Slight hump on back, short neck, wears a small dark moustache; gray eyes, drooped nose, pale complexion, broad full face, very stout make, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair ; wore a low bard black hat, gray frieze coat, corduroy trowsers; is a labourer; son to a small farmer ; may probably endeavour to go to England as a harvestman. Warrant in hands of the Royal Irish Constabulary at Glenamaddy for his arrest. Dunmore, 29th May, 1889. ( 96324 c._ 65134.) Kerry. Description of PATRICK MILLS ( name supposed to be fictitious), native placo unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd July, 1889, in the barony of Iraghticonnor, parish of Murhur, stolen the following articles from the house of James Mahony, of Leitrim West, where he lodged for the night, viz.:— Brown tweed coat, sack- mat- e, brown tweed vest, a pair of gray woollen socks, and a pair of elastic boots:— Has a tear on back of head extending from ear to ear, small eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, broad face, very stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 21 years of ego; woro a sailor's cap, brown tweed coat and vest; supposed to be a tramp. Supposed to be wearing the stolon clothing, as he left hts own behind him. Listowel, 10th July, 1889. ( 97175 c.— 66695.) Description of PATRICK MOYNIHAN, mother's surname M'Carthy, native of Knockdoora, who stands charged with having, on the 26th May, 1888, in tho barony of Magunihy, parish of Kilcummin, been one of a party who murdered Patrick M'Carthy, of Meentogues: — Large black glaring watary eyes, cocked nose, fresh complexion, thin face, medium make, 6 feet 8 inches high, about 21 yea- s of age, dark hair; wore a round hard hat, dark tweod coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. • ' Killarney, 2nd July, 1889. Description of JAMES ASPER ( mother's surname Catherine Phelan), native of Waddingstown, in the barony of Iverk, parish of Rathkieran, who left his home at Waddingstown on morning of 2nd July, 1889, end it is believed has met with foul play:— Very heavy eyebrow?, black eyes, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, round face, very stout make, 4 feet 6 inches higb, about 13 yeirs of age., black hair; wore a white straw hat with black band, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, laced boots with nails; is a farmer's son. NOLAN, alias THOMAS PAUL CULLEN, alias Mr. HARRING- TON, native placo unknown, who stands charged with having, on sundry dates in July, 1889, in the borough of Limerick, parish of St. Michael's, e^ tainsd money and goods by means of forged cheques, and is how on remand in Limerick Male Prison, and may have cjm- mitted similar offences elsewhere:— Brown eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, round face, shaved, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair; wore a black serge dress coat; jp a professional swindler, so far as is known. Description of JOSEPH HAYES, native of county Limerick, who stands charged with having, on the 19th day of May, in the barony of Coshma, parish of Croom, being an articled apprentice to James Feely, tailor, absconded and stolen his indentures :— Hollow back, brown eyes, long nose, sallow complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches higb, about 19 years of age, dark hair; wore a brown tweed coat and trowsers, light vest. Description ot PATRICK HYNES ( mother's surname Moroney), native of Limerick City, who stands charged with having, on the morning of the 2 « nd February, 1889, in the borough of Limerick, parish ol St. Mary's, unlawfully and burglariously entered the dwelling- hou3e and store of Stephen Tubridy, of Athlunkard- street, in this city, and stolen therefrom the sum of about 15*.:— Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular faco, medium make, 5 feet 6 or 7 ifaches high, about 32 years of age, brown hair wore a round hard hat, brown twee<? coat and vest, much worn, old navy blue trowsers, bad old highlow boots. Description of PATRICK DALY, native of Bally- currane, who stands charged with having, on the 11 th February, 1889, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Emly, county Tipperary, unlawfully in his posses- sion three bullocks, the property of R. C. Dobbs, which were stolen from his farms at Knockgreau and Knocknacrohy, county Limerick, on 4th September and 26th November, 1888:— Ill- looking, speaks rather loud and partly through his nose ; rather long nose, fair complexion, oval face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 35 years of age, brown hair; woro a bluish coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer. Description of DAVID BROWN, JUNIOR, native of Tullanee, who stands charged with having, on the 6th day of March, 1889, in the Half- barony of Tirkeeran, parish of Faughanvale, committed a rape on Matilda M'Ginnis, a girl of about 13 years of age s S huffling gait, wants first joint of middle finger of right hand, gray eyes, long nose, fair complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet high, about 16 years of age, fair hair; wore an old navy blue coat, navy blue trowsers and vest; is a cattle drover. Description of RALPH MANLY alias GORE, native of England, who stands charged with having, on the llth day February, 1889, in the barony of Dundalk, parish of Dundalk, committed forgery and fraud by presenting a forged cheque to a trader in Dundalk, and obtaining the sum of £ 28 10*. thereon:— Tattooed cross swords and O. M. C. or G. on loft fore- arm, hazel eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 6 feet 9$ inches high, about 25 years of age, brown hair; wore regimentals, but will probably dre*° s in plain clothes ; is a private in Royal Scots Greys. He will endeavour to emigrate. Warrant issued. Dundalk, 13th Feb., 1889. ( 94486 c— 61604). Mayo. Description of a MAN, name, residence, and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 19th June, 1889, at Ballinfcin, in the barony of Tyrawly, parish of Ballysakeery, stolen four head of cattle the property of Patrick and Michael Monnelly, which he subsequently sold at Ardnaree Fair on 20th June, 1889. Tho cattle have since been recovered :— Irregular prominent front teeth, stammers slightly in speaking if lightened or excited, brown eyes, regular ncse, fair complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 23 years of age, small light moustache, brown hair; wore a black soft hat, dark cut- away coat, dark trowsers, brown vest, and brown tie. Description of MARGARET REILLY, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on or about the 30th May, 1889, in the barony of Gallen, parish of Kilconduff, murdered her infant female child, about years old, by drowning it in a brook near Swineford:— Space between upper front teeth, fresh complexion, 4 feet 10 inches high, about 27 years of age, fair hair, very bushy in front; wore a^ dark hat with red feather, woollen plaid dress ratner dark, strong boot*, is a tramp; this woman left Balla by a harvest train on 21st inst, and took a ticket for Liverpool Swineford, 22nd Juno, 1P89. Description of JOHN FEENY ( mother's sur- name Conlen), native of Gortluista, who stands charged with having, on the night of 22nd or morning of 23rd June, in the barony of Roscommon, parish of Lissonuffy, stolen a bullock, the property of Michael Boland:— Gray eyes, cocked nose, fair complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 26 years of age; wore a gray cap, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, same material; is a labourer. JOHN, native of Prieetown Demesne, who stands charged with having, on the 16th May, 1889, in the barony of Middlethird, parish of Drangan, assaulted and beaten one Edmund Burke, of Capponagranagh, thereby causing his death, on 25th May, 1889:— Keeps his hands in trowsers pockets when walking, peculiar small brown eyes, regular rose, sallow complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair, no beard or whiskers : wore a wide- awake hat, dark sack- made coat, light trowsers and vest; is a labourer. Doscription of JOHN NOLAN, native of Birdhill, Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 7th day of March, 1889, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Tipperary, unlawfully and feloniously em- bezzled and converted to his own use the sum of £ 3 11*. 6d., the property of the Waterford and Limerick Railway Company, while acting in his capacity of clerk in tho Company's goods store, Tip- perary :— Ill- looking, knock- kneed, and high cheek- bones, hazel eyes, long nose, pale complexion, thin face slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 27 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard round hat, black serge coat, brown striped trowsers, black serge vest; woro a white necktie, and dark waterproof coat with capo 5 is a clerk in goods store. Warrant in hands of the District In- spector, at Tipperary. Tipperary, 2nd April, 1889. ( 95376 c.— 63265.) Tyrone. Description of HUGH PARKER, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd of April, 1889, in the barony of Middle Dun- gannon, parish of Clonfeacle, stolen from the dwelling- ouse of James Belshaw one gray tweed vest, one pair of woollen drawers, and one pair of socks, value for twelve shillings, at Benburb, county Tyrone:— Smart active appearance; shaves all the face, except moustache, which is dark- brown; blue eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, s'iglit make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 35 years of age, looks younger, dark- brown hair; wore a black one- peaked cap, blue tweed coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest; employed in a linen factory. This man is a tramp; will likely be found in linen or flax mills. Warrant for his arrest is in hands of Royal Irish Constabulary at Benburb. Aughnacloy, 26th April, 1889. ( 95790 c— 64056.) Westmeath. . - • Description of JAMES COUGHLAN, native^ of Athlone, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd April, 1889, in the barony of Brawney, parish of THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, JULY 16, 1889. Saint Mary's, indecently assaulted Margaret Reilly, of Ballymahon, county Longford, with the intent to commit a rape upon her;— Military bearing, smart Jvo appearance, shaves all his face except a small moustach^ blue eyes, regular nose, fresh com- don, round face, medium make, 5 feet 10 or 11 ICS high, about 28 or 80 years of age, fair hair ined to yellow; wore a round hard black hat, grey tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a journeyman carpenter. LYNAM, of tho firxd of Balman, Bros., New York, wanted here on Warrant, for obtaining on the 12th inst., by false pretences, the sum of £ 150, from an office in this city:— He is about 40 years ot ago, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stout make, broad * shoulders, thick neck, dark hair, face shaved except moustache, which is slightly gray, sallow complexion, • gentlemanly appearance; dressed in black cloth dress coat, clerical pattern, and hard black jerry hat. The above Reward will bo paid to any one giving information leading to his arrest and conviction on application to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Exchange- court, to whom any information concerning him should bo sent. Dyke " on buttons, and may have the maker's full name " C. Dyke, 5, Princess- street, London," on buttons; several stand- up collars, size 15; several pairs of socks, and a number of linen handkerchiefs; some cambric handkerchiefs with borders, some may be marked " H. Stewart," and a pair of heavy nailed shooting boots. A labourer, 28 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair and moustache, no whiskers, gray eyes, proportionate build, and supposed to bo a native of Walsall, and has travelled about the country with a boxing booth.
