I loolied clown upon the harbour below- the two piers stretching out their arms, as it were, to ships m danger, inviting them to come m and find satety and rest seemed to me just a type of the Lord Jesus. He looks upon us, sees our sins and sorrows, knows all the evils that beset us, and in mercy and loving kindness calls aloud, " Come unto Me." Again and again in the Book of Psalms ^ ° ur Lord spoken of as our Refuge ; and in the New Testament this office of His is brought near to us in Christ. He is the Rock cleft for our sins ; the One who shelters beneath His wings ; ( lie Harbour from wind and tempest. There is a sure Refuge for the guilty conscience in His great Atonement, Here the first great. need is met. He died not only as an example but mainly as the Substitute the Propitiation and Sacrifice for the sins of the whole world.' Again, there is asure Refuge in His Almighty Power. He is the Mighty God, has all power in heaven and earth; He can remove difficulty, beat down the fiercest temptation, bring through the wildest storm. He can work in us mightily to will and to do of His good pleasure. " I can do all things through Christ, which strengthened me. FrcmCr weakness we find a Refuge in His Strength Again 1; bere is a sure Refuge in His tender sympathy. Kinder than the kindest nearer than the nearest, more accessible than anyone upon ea. th; when there is no comlort, when home is desolate, when health fails, when means are insufficient, when the heart craves a friend, in Jesus there is a Refuge. *' For the Love of God is broader Than the measures of man's mind; " There is no place where earth's sorrows Are more felt than up in Heaven ; Tbpre is no place where earth's failings Have more kindly judgment giver. And the heart of the eternal Is most wonderfully kind.' 1 " I cried unto Thee, 0, Lord ; I said, Thou art my Refuge/' REV. G. EYEEAED. Many people say, " How is it you claim that your medicines cure so many diseases ?" We answer : — In ancient times, when heathenism was rampant, people believed in a god for all good, and a god for all evil ; a god for joy, and a god for sorrow ; a god to give sickness, and a god to heal sickness. Jupiter ruled the land and Neptune ruled the sea. Ceres gave us agriculture, Venus gave us love, and Hebe youth. Now we have grown wiser ; we believe in one God only— whose word was power- ful enough to create EVERYTHING. IS it not possible for that same God to send us one remedy by which we shall cure most things? There are a great many locks, and to each lock is a key, but it is not every- one who can turn the key. Our " Notesco " is the key to open the doors. Applied externally, it works through the skin and reaches the disease. Taken internally a few times, the doors are opened, the disease escapes like a convict out of gaol, with the intention of never returning. Sickness is just like a burglar— it will steal in, either through a cold, darr. pness of the houses, adulterated food, or from the impure, foul air of crowded tenements, or sewer gas, from which we have to suffer, in this and other cities. The thief is inside ; you can't get him out because the key don't fit. We now give you the true key. Our medicine is an enemy to corruption and pain. Any corruption it eats away, any pain it relieves at once. Try it. Be warned in time ; keep a stock of " Notesco in the house. We claim our ' Notesco " is superior to any medicine ever presented to the public, and we claim it with justice. J^ OTESCO. ^" OTESCO. J^ OTESCO. J^ OTESCO. J^ OTESCO. J^ OTESCO, J^ OTESCO.
