' How do you prove that 1' you say. Well, supposing you bought a horse that is seven or eight years old, and as sound as a bell in wind and everything, and ready for work ; and supposing you give a good price for it. You say to the seller, ' You will send home that horse 1' He says, ' I have your money, but I mean to keep the animal until it is old and thoroughly worked out, and wanting in wind and everything else, and then you shall have your horse.' Would you think that fair and honourable 1 No ; you paid for the horse, you expected to have it for work immediately ; any sensible man would. Just apply that to yourselves. Christ lias bought you at no less a price than His own precious Blood. And what do you say in some of your hearts 1 ' I intend to wear myself out in the devil's service, and when I am old and grey- headed, and have given up the temptations and enjoyments I have now, then I will give to Christ what He has purchased.' Is that honourable 1 Verily not. I say, be honourable, and as the Lord Jesus Christ has purchased you with His Life Blood give to Christ what He has pur- chased, and as there is no time better than the present, do it now. Many think it is not needful to be a Christian, and certainly not before the time comes to die. An old collier once answered these thoughts by saying, ' Me and my mate adopted these views some years ago, and me and my mate were working down in the coal mine, and some few weeks ago an enormous quantity of coal fell upon us. We scrambled out as well we could, and I heard my mate beginning to cry to God for mercy. Ah ! there's nothing like cobs of coal for knocking unbelief and procras- tination out of your head.' Be honourable. Be obedient. ' This is His Com- mandment. that we should believe on the name of His Son, Jesus Christ."' KEV. H. DENING. Now Ready, price One Shilling. FIFTEENTH YEAR.
