R E Q U L A All announcement, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communications upon them, should be addressed to THE EDITOR OP THE POLICH GAZETTE, GHEAT SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 3. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted m one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified 4. In all cases where a reward is offered the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions be clearly stated. 6. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought fir serious offences, and engravings of stoen property, will be prominently inserted, with detailed particulars, at a cost of 15s. per portrait, and of 7 s. 6d. per photograph or sketch of a stolen article, including the expense of engraving on wood. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent ; and, if the name of such person be req- nred to be inserted, and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 1. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. TIONS. 8. CAnnouncements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and art alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted tj the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editol notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all eases, the officer signing the request for insertion of any announcement, will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Anr. ouncements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. Jhey must be clearly written on one side of the paper only, be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, Great Scotland Yard, by cheque, crossed " Drummond ^ Co.," Post Office Order payable at Charing Cross, Poital Order, or in Stamps. 13. Advertisements are accepted for the POLICE GAZETTE through Mr. James Willing, 125, Strand, London, the sole Agent, who will furnish the rates on application. 14. He " calleth His own sheep by name." We never call a man a farmer unless he is a farmer ; so likewise when God calls us by a name, it is because we are that which He calls us. The names He has given us will tell us what we are. Let us see some of the names, that we may learn to know what we really are in His sight. 1. He calls us His children. " For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus." Let us be children then, and live as children do, in the present moment, without taking thought for to- morrow. 2. He calls us His heirs. " If children, then heirs ; heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ." Let us be heirs then in the sense of entering into possession of our inheritance. An earthly heir may be amazed at his good fortune, or may feel himself to be utterly unworthy of it, but nevertheless, if he is the heir, he takes possession of his inheritance; and we, who are declared to be the heirs of God, must do the same. 3. He calls us His friends. " Henceforth I call you not servants ; for the servant knoweth not what his Lord doeth, but I have called you friends." Let us be His friends then in the best that we know of friendship. Let us trust Him, lean on Him, try to please Him, and, moreover, recognise the blessed fact, that if we are His friends, He is necessarily our friend also, and that the duties and responsibili- ties of friendship are upon His shoulders as well as upon ours. " There is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother." " I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you." He will tell us His secret?. And He Himself has told us how to become His friends. " Ye are My fris nds if ye do whatsoever I command you." 4. He calls us His brethren. Let us be His brethren then, and take to our hearts the comfort and joy of having such an " Elder Brother" to bear our burdens and share our sorrows.
