In travelling across the desert, scouts upon camels and dromedaries are sent off in every direction to scour the country and look for springs of water. When these are discovered, the finder immediately calls aloud to the nearest " Come," and this one repeats the word " Come " to the next; and so this passes from one to another • until all hear and are gathered at the well. Now we must do the same. We must raise the cry " Come." " Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." It is the Lord Him self who says " Come ; " and He says " Come unto Me "— to Himself; not to a fellow- creature, not to a doctrine, but to Himself. For everyone must come for himself or herself, and have individually a personal dealing with the Lord. All are to come, for all are weary and heavy laden, and sin is the greatest burden of all. " Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord ; though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.'' And all are to take His yoke, to be His disciples and followers of Christ. Then the promise is sure. ' I will give rest "( of consciencc), " and ye shall find rest" ( of heart) all in Him. His own proclamation is, " If any man thirst, let him come unto me and drink. io Zaccheus He said, " Make haste and come down, for to- day I must abide at thy house." The Spirit cf Christ proclaims, " Ho ! everyone that thirsteth, come. The Blessed Saviour declares, " He that cometli to Me shall never hunger, and Him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out." Philip, when he had found the Saviour, called, " Come and see the woman of Samaria testified ! Come ! bee . Is not this the Christ ? " Come! " This man receiveth sinners." " Jesus is come to seek and to save that which was lost. " Be it unto thee even as thou wilt.' n The Man of Sorrows says " Weep not. '' All things are now ready."' Come without delay ! Come to Jesus ! Come now ! Come !
