LIBERTY: A word dear to^ every Englishman they say. " Britons never will be slaves," ' Liberty Hall," " The land of the free"— many household expressions testify to our familiarity with the thought; and yet, are we not hazy in our ideas of what con- stitutes real freedom 1 Are not many of us in reality bond slaves, imagining our- selves to be freed men 1 Let us listen to our Lord Jesus Christ's first words re>, d m public. He took up the book of Isaiah and read : " The Lord hath anointed M* to proclaim liberty," and drew attention to that being one of the chief point* r. f His mission. Ho came to set us free. 1. Free from the law. " Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us." " If ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not undnr the law." 2. Free from the dominion of sin. " Our old man is crucilied with Him. . . that henceforth we should not serve sin. Sin shall not have dominion over you " 3. Free from the fear of man. " Fear ye not the reproach of men, neither Vie ye afraid of their revilings. . . My righteousness shall be for ever, and My salvation from generation to generation." 4. Free from anxiety. " He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Hirn up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?" " Be careful f » r nothing.-' " Casting all your care upon Him, for He caroth for you." 5. Free from the fear of death. " Forasmuch as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same, that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage." " O death, where is thy sting 1 O grave, where iB thy victory ? Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. " Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free." JS/ L O IT Xj IE ' S ilB. ( SILVERED) WII. L CURB Bilious Headaches, Indigestion.
