THREE THINGS GOD IS. ( v. 5.) " Gracious is the Lord, and righteous ; yea, our God is merciful." Beautiful blending of Divine attributes, each shading off into the other like rainbow tints. Righteousness holding the balance even between grace and mercy. Only when gazing at the cross we see that " mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other." THREE THINGS GOD HAS DONE. What God does is the necessary consequence of what God is Hence, as God is gracious, merciful, and righteous, His actings must be blessings. Thus the Psalmist is able to testify : " Thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, my feet from falling." A three fold cord is not easily broken, and here is one long enough and strong enough to ra:. se us from the depth of ruin to the height of gloiy THREE THINGS FOR US TO DO. In contemplating what God is, and what God has done, David is led to exclaim, " What shall I render V " I will take the cup of salvation and call upon the name of the Lord." Encouraged by the promise that " whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved," let us say so too. The next thing in the order of experience ( v. 9) is I will walk before the Lord in the land of tne living." Having received God's gift of life, we begin to walk. Let us walk on the sunny side of the way, in His light and love. But for the life to be healthy, and the walk upright, the strength must be constantly renewed by waiting upon the Lord. And David says, " Therefore will I call upon Him as long as I live, because He hath inclined His ear unto me. Sound reasoning, though simple. Hitherto hath the Lord helped us. Henceforth will we seek His help, and trust in Him at all times." THE POLICE WATOH. AS SUPPLIED TO NEARLY EVERY FORGE Ifl THE UNITED KINGDOM.
