David said, " There be many that say, who will shew us any good 1" We all want " good." Then let us see for a few moments, from the following verses in Job, how we are to know God, and what is this good that shall come unto us. 1. " Receive " from Him. Our first thougit is, what can we bring ? He says receive— accept— His Words ; and, 2, " Lay them up in thine heart." We so seldom give ourselves time ! 3. " Be at peace." This is a command ; do not argue with God ; confession is better than controversy ; cease striving against Him. 4. " Put away iniquity "— all that hinders, all your past, all your failures ; and, 5, " Lay thy treasure in the dust" ( Revised Version)— things good in themselves perhaps— and " God shall be thy treasure." Thereby good shall come. What good? 1. " Then shalt thou have thy delight in Him." A new joy. God undertakes to fulfil this. We so often confound our responsibilities with God s. This is God's blessing. 2. There shall be a light on your life, for " thou shalt lift up thy face unto God " in the sunshine of His Presence. 3. Next, in verse 27, we see promise of success in prayer— power in prayer— something more than a nabit of prayer— a being brought into the line of His Will and Purpose. 4. Success in ser- vice, verse 28, not success as the world judges, perhaps, but with God's smile on you. 5. Faith in trial, verse 29— and in the Revised Version we find, verse 30, gives ( 6), promise of being blessings to others. " He shall deliver him that is not innocent." We are so apt to come after good and God, and we miss both. Come to God, and good shall come unto thee. " The Lord is my Shepherd,"— then, goodness and mercy follow me. Put the blessings into God's Hands, don't be occupied first with them ; acquaint thyself with Him, and all these blessings shall overtake thee."
