The following notice with respect to these forgerites has been issued by Her Majesty's Postmaster- General: " Whereas Postal Orders for One Shilling have been fraudulently altered by some person or persons, so as to represent Postal Orders for Ten Shillings and Twenty Shillings respectively, and several Orders so altered have been presented to tradesmen and others, and goods and cash obtained in exchange. " This is to give notice that the above reward will be paid by Her Majesty's Postmaster- General to any person or persons furnishing such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. " A careful examination of an altered Postal Order shows signs of erasures of, and additions to, the amounts printed on the face of the Order, and addi- tions to the amounts in the water- marks. The " S " added to " shilling " in the water- mark should be com- pared with the first " S" of the word. In some instances, the original amount of poundage—" One Halfpenny"— the poundage of a Shilling Order— printed on the left side of the face of the Order, has been allowed to remain unaltered; in others " One Halfpenny " has been altered to " One Penny," the poundage for ten shillings; or to " Three- halfpence," the poundage for twenty sliillicgs. The alterations of the poundage will be easily detected. The Orders should be compared with a genuine Postal Order where practicable. ( Late Snpsrintendflnt X Division Metropolitan Police.) " KEEP." Perhaps some who read our little weekly paragraph have said to themselves lately, " I like this thought about God's great gift to me. I like the idea that I may give to God myself and all that makes up my life, but I look back, I remember other New Years commencing with good thoughts and good resolutions ; it ended so unsatisfactorily, and although I do, indeed, desire something better, I fear to take any step that may only end in failure and still greater discouragement." To meet these misgivings, let us take the word " Keep," and see in His constant use of it how God provides for all our case. In old castles we are always shown where the keep was situated— the strongest and safest part of the castle, where the weakest could be sheltered and valuables stored. In this sense God uses the word " Keep" in 1 Peter i. 5, and Phil. iv. 7, " Kept by the Power of God ; " " The Peace of God shall keep your hearts and minds ; the word each time signifying " Kept as in a garrison. The Lord Jesus is our " Keep;" " His house is a strong tower, the righteous runneth into it and is safe." Again, the word is used in the sense of being " kept unto an end," and this we find in Our Lord's Own Prayer, " Holy Father, Keep those whom Thou hast given me; I kept them in Thy name." His desire being that His people should be so kept that they might be with Him through all Eter- nity. Once more, the word signifies " a guard," a preserving ; " Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling "— Jude xxiv. " I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day "— 2 Tim., i. 12. He promises to keep us from want; to keep us through trial ; above all, to keep us from sin. He speaks of keeping us " in all places," " from all evil," " in all our ways," to keep our " souk," our " feet," our " minds;" at all times, too, " lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day :" so sensitively, that He describes it as keep- ing His peop. e " as the apple of His eye," repeating, later on, " he that toucheth you, toucneth the apple of his eye." Will you step inside His keep t Will you trust Hitn who gives you these wishful thoughts, to carry on His work, and keep you unto the end 1 Will you echo David's prayer and say, " Keep me as the apple of Thine eye " 1 PETER ROBINSON'S MOURNING WAREHOUSE. ROYAL AQUAKIUM.- Princess LILI DOLGO- ROUKI.— From the Berlin Vossische Zeitung, May 4, 1885 : " A princess violinist will appear on Thursday next, at the Austellungspark ( Exhibition Park). She is the Princess Lili Dol- gorouki, so here we give a few biographical notices. The princess was horn in Spain on May 22,1859. When a child she showed some extraordinary talent for music. Leonliard, of Paris, was engaged as her teacher, afterwards Professor Kousky. On her giviug a concert in St. Petersburg she made an immense success, and won the heart of Prince Dolgorouki, who married her, and so put an end to her artistic life. Through this marriage she became niece of the present Governor of Moscow, of the same name, and of the Princess Dolgorouki, the morganatic wife of the late Emperor of Russia. Her husband, the prince, having lost the greater portion of his fortune, has at last consented to her making a few appear- ances in public." ROYAL AQUARIUM.- Princess LILI DOLGO- ROUKI.— From the Eberfelder Zeitung, July 13,1885: " A Princess Violin Virtuose will give some concerts at Joannisberg on Wednesday next, and will no doubt draw thousands through her appearance there. When a child she took lessons from Leonards and Vieuxtemps, and she received the great medal of art; a similar distinctidn was given to her by the Queen of Sweden. In Berlin she gave some concerts, and at each she drew nearly 20,000 visitors. We may remark that the violin upon which Bhe plays is a real Stradivarius, a present to her from the Grand Duke Vladimir of Russia."
