SPECIAL NOTICE. FUGITIVE OFFENDERS. A recent case has come under the notice of the Editor, in which a person whose apprehension was sought in England, and who was described in the POLICE GAZETTE, gave himself up to the Colonial Police. The prosecutor declined to take any further action ill the matter, but the case necessitated the dispatch of two telegrams, the cost of which had to be refunded by him. To avoid such expense, the Editor requests, that if there is reason to believe that a fugitive offender is likely to go to the Colonies, and the prosecutor is un- willing to incur any expense, with a view to obtain his surrender, a notification be made in the communi- cation sent to this Office to the effect that the offender is not to be arrested beyond the United Kingdom. The necessity for the adoption of such a course will be apparent from the fact that the POLICE GAZETTE is circulated in the Colonies. NEW YEAR'S ACCOUNTS. Last week we considered God as a good accountant, and from His word what He finds worth counting and valuing. To- day let us see what He would have us count and value. 1. Ourselves. In one way we all think too much of ourselves ; in another, not enough. How much do we realise that we are made for Eternity, with a place to fill on earth— a place prepared in Heaven f " What shall it profit a man if he gain the whole world and lose his own soul ?" Jesus said that, so we cannot value a soul too highly. 2. Value time. David prayed, " Make me to know the number of my days." Moses prayed, " So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom." \ V e have had a great many; what have we done with them? We hear people speak of " killing time," but time killed has a resurrection. 3. Value Eternity. Can we measure it? 4. Count our sins. Job asks, " How many are mine iniquities and sins?" God says, " How often did they provoke me? They have forgotten the days without number." We cannot even remember yesterday's sins ! and yet they are written in God' s Book, and are counted and valued. We talk of " little " sins ! As David said. " They are more than the hairs of mine head." But while realising that, let us hold this verse in our hands, " The blood of Jesus Christ cleanseth us from all sin." 5. Count our mercies " Forget not all His benefits." 6. Count our talents. Jesus speaks of giving ten, five, one. He would have us know and count. 7. Value Christ. I* aul, who knew Him so well, is our example. All through his service, and his sufferings, he says, " Let all go, only let me know Him." " What think ye of Christ ?" Have we valued Him at 30 pieces of silver, or have we lost ourselves in counting the unsearchable riches of Christ ? Shall we value him through death ? at the judgment ? Let us see to it then that we value Him in life. ENAMELLED IRON CABMEN'S BADGES, CAB NUMBERS, CAB FARE PLATES. NUMBERS FOR DOOR, & o. " POLICE STATION" PLATES. Hackney Carriage Standing Plates.
