IDENTIFICATION OF BODIES. UNCLAIMED The attention of the Editor has been directed to the want of any system existing for the publication of descriptions of dead bodies coming into the hands of Police, and which are buried without having been iden- tified. It having been suggested that the particulars should be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, the Editor will be glad to print any information which it may be considered desirable to publish. IDENTIFICATION OF PRISONERS. The Editor desires to call attention to the fact that all photographs of prisoners in custody, trans- mitted to the Convict Branch of the Metropoli- tan Police Office, for purposes of identification, are seen by the police and warders who visit all prisoners under, remand, in the Metropolitan Police District three ' times a week. This system, esta- blished in 1879, has been the means of ascertaining the previous convictions of 7000 prisoners, and affords great facilities to Chief Officers of Police, and the Governors of Her Majesty's Prisons. Such photographs are also compared with the albums in the Convict Office con- taining the portraits of all Convicts liberated in the Kingdom, which are further open to the personal examination of any police officer or warder, APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT. " Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His Holy Name." " Thy works praise Thee, Thy saints bless Thee." Many timesl have murmured, now I will bless ; many times I have blessed with my lips, now with my soul; and all that is within me, mind, heart, memory, and all, that God Himself has given. " Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits." Was David sleepy before 1 The Holy Spirit makes no vain repetitions. We need to repeat, to bestir ourselves. We are tenacious of grievances, we hold benefits loosely. " Who forgiveth all thine iniquities." A present thing : " He forgiveth." A continual thing, as true to- day as when David uttered it: " He forgiveth." A divine thing, for only the one sinned against can orgive : " He forgiveth." A far- reaching thing : " He forgiveth all." " Who healeth all thy diseases." No disease of soul baffles His skill. Sin is likened to disease, because it mars beauty, excites pain, unfits for duty, leads to death. " Who redeemeth thy life from destruction." As David looked back upon his shepherd life, his military life, his persecuted life, his regal life, his spiritual life, he could see how literally true it was that all had been redeemed from destruction. " Who crowneth thee with loving - kindness and tender mercies." God does not do things by halves. He makes us kings. H3 gives incorruptible crowns. Sin forfeits honours. He restores them. " Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things, so that thy youth is renewed like the eagles." He who in the previous Psalm compares himself to a pelican in - a, wilderness, an owl in the desert, a little sparrow— now is satisfied— and is like unto the strongest, the most fearless, the most soaring of birds.
