IDENTIFICATION OF BODIES. UNCLAIMED The attention of the Editor has been directed to the want of any system existing for the publication of descriptions of dead bodies coming into the hands of Police, and which are buried without having been iden- tified. It having been suggested that the particulars should be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, the Editor will be glad to print any information which it may be considered desirable to publish IDENTIFICATION OF PRISONERS. The Editor desires to call attention to the fact that all photographs of prisoners in custody, trans- mitted to the Convict Branch of the Metropoli- tan Police Office, for purposes of identification, are seen by the police or warders who visit all prisoners under remand, in the Metropolitan Police District three times a week. This system, esta- blished in 1879, has been the means of ascertaining the previous convictions of 7000 prisoners, and affords great facilities to Chief Officers of Police, and the Governors of Her Majesty's Prisons. Such photographs are also compared with the albums in the Convict Office con- taining the portraits of all Convicts liberated in the Kingdom, which are further open to the personal examination of any police officer or warden. " Even the very hairs of your head, aie all num- bered."— Luke xii. 7. When the three young men were taken from the fjrnace they had no hurt, " neither was an hair of their head singed." In the great tribulation it is promised to Christ's people, " there shall not an hair of your head perish." Learn, God's care of His own reaches down to the very least matters ; not only must we believe the individuality of God's Providence, but the particularity of it as touch- ing everything that concerns them, and it must be so. With the Omniscient and All- wise there is nothing small or great; and on that which seems to us the smallest often the issue is the greatest. The falling of a leaf, the flight of a bird, a whispered remark, a note of music, a letter from a friend may change the whole current of life, and for weal or woe may affect every moment of our future. Therefore be persuaded that nothing is too small for a Father's eyes and a Father's love. Bring God into everything. The very least anxiety that weighs upon you, you may roll upon Him ; He will not despise it. The very least ache or pain of mind or body is a part of His loving discipline, and will do its work the better if brought to Him. The heaving of a sigh, the dropping of a tear, the un- uttered desire and longing of the heart He hears and considers. Be as a. little child with your Heavenly Father. True, you may remember with shame former sins. You may say, " My iniquities. . -. are more than the hairs of my head; my heart therefore faileth me." But for these there is full remission. By trustful confession lay them on the slain Lamb. Then rejoice that with filial confidence you may bring all that con- cerns you to the Mercy Seat. Your home trials, petty annoyances from those about you, remarks that fret you like the bite of a gnat, the wearied frame, trouble about business matters, a nervous temperament, some- thing in the house or out of it that disturbs your peace, and yet that you have reckoned scarcely im- portant enough to name on your knees, tell it out in a Father's ear, and leave it to His merciful and wise ordering.
