The first is NEGLEOT. Some people say, " What have I done 1" Why, if you merely neglect Salvation you will be lost. I am on a swift river, and lying in the bottom of my little boat; all I have to do is to fold my arms, and the current will carry me out to sea. So all that a mail has to do is to fold his arms in the current of life, and he will drift on and be lost. " How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salva- tion ?" Paul asks. " The wicked shall be turned into hell, all the nations that forget God."— Ps. ix. 17. The next step is REFUSAL. HOW many are _ saying, " Not now, not now. I will not become a Christian now ; I know I ought, but I won't now 1" Listen ! God also is speaking, Now is the accepted time," and warning, " Because I have called and ye refused, I have stretched out my Hand and no man regarded... I also will laugh at your calamity ; I will mock when your fear cometh But whoso hearkeneth unto Me, shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil." Then the last step is Despising Salvation. Many despise Christ— hate Him, hate Christianity, hate the best people on earth, and the best friends they have got ; hate His Word- " The Lord God sent by His messengers, rising up betimes and sending ; because He had compassion on His people. But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised His words, until the wrath of God arose, till there was no remedy." " Escape for thy life." " Repent and turn."
