The Names of Persons charged with Offence* who are known but not in custody, and a Description of those who are not known, their Appearance, Dress, and other marks of Identity. Tht Name* of Accomplices and Accessories, with every particular which may lead to their Apprehension. A Description, a* accurate a* possible, Property that ha* been stolen, and a minute Description of Stolen Horse* for the purpose of tracing and recovering them. BB GUTDORITS. lotlet.- It ii requested that all communication! for the jpusrpose of obtaining or giving information respecting « uppo » ed offenders, or stolon property, may bear the Signature of tha person requiring or tending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Polio ® Court, Bow Street, London, W. O. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably aecessary that an information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all tetters addressed to the Editor roust be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and ef Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. Advertisements offering rewards must « tat « clearly:—( 1) The amount of the reward. ( 2) The conditions on which it is payable. < 8). The person by whom it will be paid. They should be signed or accompanied by a letter, signed by toe persons forwarding them. They should contain no expressions holding out any expectation of reward for the return of the property, without khe app: " ehention of the offender. It Is particularly requested that when, owing either to insufficiency or incorrectness of the address or ether- wise, Copies of this Gazette are delivered to persons, to whom they are not addressed, or who are not now entitled to receive them, such Copies may be at once returned through tha Post to " The Editor, Bow Street, London." Wanted at Newbury for arson on 3rd instant:— a tramp, 28 years of age, 5 feet 2! inchts high, ruddy complexiou, brown hair, grey eyes, proportionate build, long face, thin sandy beard art! moustaehp, dirty appearance, hoart tattooed on back of left hand, and oa left arm, blue mark on right wrist. 8upposed to have been a sailor, is of dirty appearance, and is very active ; dressed in rough dark coat, reaching to the knees, fustian trousers, which have been washed, but are cow very dirty and torn 2 or 3 inches up from the bottom on the inside of each leg, soft black billyioik hat, and old boots, not laced ; carried an ash stick, and has the appearance of a drover. Stolen by means of burglary on 9th instant, from a hotel in Sunderland :— about £ 10 in Gold and Silver, including an Italian silver Coin, and a Lion Shilling. IN- formation to John Nicholson, Chief Constable, SUNDERLAND — Bow- street, December 12. Stolen by means of burglary, during night of 28th ult. :— a large [ silver lever Watch, nearly new, plain cases except a small circle on back, cream coloured face, maker ' Jas. Coakes, Wigan'; verge ditto, sizeable, plain cases, white, face, small dint, by ' Cobatall,' the numbers of the two are • either of the following— 87,823, 34,029 or 3,112; a silver Albert, cut pattern, with Locket for appendage ; a common hair Albert with stone or glass attached ; a metal Albert, snake pattern, with Compass attached ; 8 Ha'f Sovereigns, and a Sovereign. Two men are in custody in Denbigh on suspicion; a third suspected man is about 23 years of age, but looks younger, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches bigb, light grey or blue eyes, oval face, fair complexion, light hair and light sandy moustache, medium build, a member of Militia, tattooed star on back of left hand, and do. ring, believed to be on one of fingers same hand. G.— Bow- street, December 7. The two men advertised in Police Gizette of 3rd iostant, a3 wanted for larceny at the Guildhall Coffee House, New- bury, have been apprehended and are now under remand : — the first gives the name of FREDERICK BROMLEY, a carpenter, of 19, St. Martin's- lane, Leicester ; and the second JAMES CLARK, a carpenter and bellhaDger, of 20, High- street, Birmingham ; upon them were found railway tickets from Compton to Paddington, and they are both supposed to be London thieves. In their possession was fouud a com- plete set of housebreaking implements, and also a gold double- case keyless Watch, No. 6000, maker James Murray, Royal Exchange, London, together with several go'd and other rings, one snake pattern, also settings from brooches, rings, & c., supposed the proceeds of other robberies. Infor- mation to Mr. Supt-. Bennett, Berks Constibulary, NEWBURY. — Bow- street, December 7. Wanted on a warrant for obtaining the sum of £ 5 10s. on the 3rd July, 1878, under false pretences : — G. L. IIOARE, a betting man, about 37 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion, slight whiskers, prominent cheek bones ; dressed as a gentleman jockey ; bis last known residence was 15, Old Cavendish Strest, Cavendish Square, London. CARELESS, alias REDMAN, 56 years of age, 5 feet 6i ins, high, medum build, grey eyes, light sandy hair, fresh com- plexion, clean shaved, cat mark on left side of chin, a wood- sawyer, and a native of Wolverhampton; dressed in an old flannel jacket, cord trousers, old cloth cap, and old cloth boots tied round with string, fl e is under police supervision, and has been convicted at Wolverhampton and Stafford for burglary, larceny, and ether offences. Absconded from Biahoti's Castle, on 30th ultimo, charged with larceny :— SAMSON BARKER, 29 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark complexion, no whiskers, Bhort black moustache and rather full face; dressed ia a dark blue serge jacket, old cloth vest, and trousers patched on knees, white handkerchief, old Jim Crow hat, and an old pair of Blucher shoes, a hawker and a native of Market Diayton, Salop ; has a pedlar's certificate in his possession, and is in the Shropshire Militia. Information to Mr. Supt. Caswell, CHURCH STRETTON, or to Sergeant Williams, BISHOP'S CASTLE, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, December 7. Charged under a warrant with stealing from the Three Tuns Inu, King Street, WiUenhall, on 2nd instant:— a black stuff Cloak bound with whit 3 fur, with hood attached ; a piece Dress ; a browa Bonnet, trimmed with brown satin and velvet; a pair of woman's elastic- side Boots ; a brown leather Purse, containing twenty shillings in silver; and a black leather Purse, containing one shilling and eightper. ee and a pawnticket. By a woman known as POLLY THE DANCER, 5 feet 1 inches high, dark complexion, hair and eyes ; dressed supposed in dark dress, imitation seal skin hat, and red and black plaid shawl, much worn, may be wearing some of the stolen articles, she is fond of singing and dancing at low public houses, her favourite song being ' Silver Bells.' Absconded, charged with embezzling £ 80 :— CHARLES LOUIS MARSTON, 32 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, slender build, pale complexion, brown hair, clean shaved, grey eyes, long thin face ; dressed in black overcoat, daik grey trousers, high black hat; has a sister residing at Llandudno, • where he may visit. Description of CHARLES THOMPSON, alas THORN- TON, a tramping ergine- fitter, charged on a warrant, with stea'ing 9 Watch and Chain ( recovered), from his lodgiugs at Kettering, on 28th ultimo :— he is about 55 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, sallow complexion, dark hair, moustache and imperial, contracted linger or finger off one hand; dressed in dark brown coat, with serge underneath, dark cord trousers, peaked cap, old spring- side boots, check muffler, carries with him an engineer's certificate from a ship, with piece cut out of bottom. Stolen about 6 p. m. on 30th ultimo, at Ilasland :— a silver English lever Watch, flat glass, sunk seconds, engine- turned case, No. 3392, maker M. T. Galloway, 32, Vicar- lane, Leeds, ' T. Woodcock' engraved on back of outer case. By a man about 19 years of age, 6 feet 4 or 5 inches bi^ h, slender build, dark hair, slight dark monitrche, fresh complexion, and pockmarked; dres'ed in grey coat, cloth cap with Btraight peak, imitation gold band in tront, and brass button on each side; he was hawking Christmas and other cards. Stolen in Stookport on 23th ultimo :— a gentleman's green Melton cloth Overcoat, be ivy made, plain black bone buttons, 4 pockets outside and one inside, lined with black Italian lining. Charged with stealing on 4th instant :— a dirk reefer Jacket, with almost invisible brown stripe running through, and black cloth buttons; a blue pilot cloth single- breasted Vest, brown bon « buttons : a pair of Wellington sea Boots; a lei woolleu Muffler; and about 7s. iu Money. Stolen at Portskde during the night of 29th ultimo :— a pair of men's side spring Boots nearly new, has nine rows of small square headed nails in each boot; also a loose brown cloth Jacket, one pocket inside of left breast, and two pockets on hips. By a man, 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 ins. high, fair complexion, light brown hair, Binall lighht mou- stache, no whisker, a labourer ; dressed in dark cloth cap with peak, lightish grey cloth cot, white muffler, light coul trousers and heavy half boots.
