POLICE ^ U& IFEFTFLL Motlce.— It U requested that all communication! for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolon property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or tending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. O. • » * Whenever it it desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably accessary that an information should he made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence oharged, and an attested oopy thereof, together with the advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. AJ no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor miut l> e prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the A. rmy, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, shove, for imertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. Advertisements offering rewards must » tate clearly:—( 1) The amount of the reward. ( 2) The conditions on which it is payable. ( 8). The person by whom it will be paid. They should be signed or accompanied by a letter, signed by tne persons forwarding them. They should contain no expressions holding out any expectation of reward for the return of the property, without the apprehension of the offender. It Is particularly requested that when, owing either to insufficiency or incorrectness of the address or other- wise, Copies of this Gazette are delivered to persons, to whom they are not addressed, or who are not now entitled to receive them, such Copies may be at once returned through the Post to " The Editor, Bow Street, London." MURDER AXD MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. On 21st instant a brown paper parcel, containing the dead Body of a Male Child, from 7 to 10 days old, was foui d on the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway platform, Victoria Station, Manchester, and conveyed to Stalybridge ; dressed in two bkders, one flannel, and the other made from an old cambiic handkerchief, marked ' E. E. Scott,' in luk ; a shirt, 1 made from a new cambric handkerchief, marked ' M j ' in pencil, a new long cotton li ght,- drees, a long cotton skirt ( new), and an old cambiic handkerchuf, crumpled up aud placed over his moutb. An inquest was held on 24th kstaut, and a verdict of ' Wi ful Muider against some person or persons unknown' was returned. £ 50 reward will be. piid by Her Majesty's Government to any person ( ther than a person belonging to a Police Force in the United Kingdom), who thill give such information and evidence as sba'l lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers ; and the Secretary of State will advise the grant of Her Majesty's Gracious Pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who shall give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. Stolen from the person at Stockton Races, on 14th, 15th, and 16th instant:— a gold lever Watch, No. 6599, dial si ghtly scratched ; a silver patent lever Watch, No. 1880, makers' name ' Reid and Sous, Newcastle- upon- Tyne, T. Stolen from the person of a man while in a state of intoxication on the Glasgow and Carlisle Road, near Lockerbie, on the night of Lamb Fair, on 14th instant:— a single cased silver lever Watch, makers' name ' Russell & Co., London, No. 42,103,' ' John McAdam,' engraved on cases. Ou following morning a watch answering to the above description was offered for sale in two watchmakers shops in Dumfries, but it was not sold, and may again be offered jto a watchmaker. Stolen during the night of 28th iostant:—- a pair of Field Classes, in pateut leather ca& e; a pair of Opera Glasses, in black morocco leather case ; an electro- plated Tea Kettle, with spirit lamp underneath ; a tortoise- shell Tea Caddy ; a niaVet Jug. silver top ; and a gilded Thimble, with the name ' Laura' engraved thereon If found pledged the loan will be paid. Description of JOBN LITTLE, alias BRAG and CLARK, wanted for Housebreaking at Kta, Cornwall:— he is a labourer, and a native St. Austell, 25 or 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light brown hair and bsard, whiskers shaved off, blue eyes, very red neck, ruddy complexion, and tattooed on right arm ; dressed when last se- m in a grey suit of clothes, trousers repaired in the seat, blask billycock hat, and had other clothes wi'h him tied up in a b'ue handker- chief; he is a deserter from the D. of Cornwall Li^ ht Infautry Bodmin ; may try to get a berth on board a vessel and go to sea, or may be found working on some farm. Description of two men who are suspected of breaking and entering a dwelling- houae at Mersey- road, Ashton- upon- Mersey, by forcing the front door with a jimmy, and ran- sackii g drawers during the absence of family at church, on Sunday- night, 26th instant :— lst, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, prominent nose, light hair, small side whiskers, moustache, and rather long thin face; dressed in hard felt hat and brown or fawn- coloured coat; 2nd, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, full round face, dark hair ; a,- d dressed in dark tweed suit. Stolen bv burglary, during the ni^ ht of 27th instant, or morning of 28th instant, from Doou Villa, Ashley Road, Altiiatbam :— a gold Bracelet, inla'd with peails and rubies, in the shape of a buckle ; a gold Tnimble ; 8 gold Lockets ; a long gold Chain, pattern very small rouud links ; a silver lever Wateh, very old, maker's name and number unknown. During the night of the 22nd, or the morning of the 23rd instant, the Booking Office and Refreshment Rooms at New Holland Railway Station, were broken iuto and stolen therein : — about 14s. in Silver and Copper from the Booking Office, and from the Refreshment R& oms 3 boxes of Cigars, one of the boxes is marked ' Elixir'; about lib. of Tobacco; and 12 bottles of different kinds of Win- s and Spirits, there are labels on the bottles marked ' W.
