MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Whereas, the Dead Body of a newly- born Female Child was found in the River Wear, under Victoria Bridge, Pain- shaw, Durham, on 24th ultimo, and at a Coroner's Inquest, held on 26th ultimo, an open verdict of ' Wilful Murder by some Person or Persons unknown,' was returned,— a reward of £ 50 will be paid by Her Majesty's Government to any person, other than a person belonging to a Police Force m the United Kingdom, who shall give such information and evi- dence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers ; and the Secretary of State will advise the grant of Her Majesty's Gracious Pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder who shall give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. Charged with the wilful murder of a newly born male • hild, by procuring abortion :— MARY FARMER, 45 y6ars of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, stout build, full face, fresh complexion, brown eyes, brown hair ; dressed at the time in a light cotton dress, black shawl and bonnet She is a tailoress, and was lodging until 13th instant at her daughters, Alexandra Street, Lower Camden Street, Birmingham. At an inquest held upon the body of the child, the jury returned a verdict of ' Wilful Murder.' Information to J. Foord and Son, Hastings,' No. 157, crest on back— an eagle with woman's face, motto in garter ' Nullius in verba'; also a double- cased silver English lever Watch, capped and jewelled. Stolen from the person at the Paragon Railway Station Hull, on 13th instant:— a gold Geneva Watch, No. 41886, crystal glass, ' Benson, Regent Street, London,' engraved on dome; also a gold Guard, with long Newgate and short links, gold Locket attached, engraved ' W. J. S.' monogram on one side, ' H. S.' on the other. Information to J. Campbell, Chief Constable, HULL.— Bow- street, June 27. FORGERY. Description of WILLIAM DYER, alias GRAHAM, supposed native of London or Southampton, who is charged on a warrant for Forging a Cheque for £ 3 16s., at Exmouth, Devon, on 30th May last:— he calls on grocers, bakers, and silversmiths, representing that he is travelling for Thompson and Thompson, 22, Upper Marsh, Lambeth, London, selling electro- nickel deposit for cleaning plate ; he is about 39 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, stout build, ruddy complexion, round features, light eyes, sandy hair and whiskers, and small moustache ; dressed in a rusty drab suit, a light pepper- and- salt colour overcoat, high silk hat, and elastic side boots. Wears a gold ring on little finger of right hand. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable of Devon, EXETBR, who holds warrant for his arrest.— Bow- street, July 6. Wanted in Aberdeen, for forging or uttering a forged bank cheque for £ 46, on 23rd ultimo:— SAMUEL E LOBLEY, about 24 years of age, native of England, but it is said that he has resided for several years in America, pretends to be a cattle- dealer, but has the appearance of a commercial traveller, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, slender make, pale com- plexion, oval face, light brown hair, appears soft and fine, no whiskers or moustache ; dressed in black worsted coat and vest, and light tweed trousers. Information to Thomaa Wyness, Superintendent of Police, ABERDEEN.— Bow- street July 6. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen by means of housebreaking, between 4 p. m. on 4th and 8 a. m. on 5th instant, at Middlesbrough :— a silver Geneva lever Watch, No. 17796, foreign make, had attached a Canadian gold Albert Guard, heavy curb pattern, with plated Compass to it; a pair of small Opera Glasses, without case; about 2 dozen silk Handkerchiefs, of various colours, some of them having swallows and other different kinds of birds on them : 2 fancy cotton Shirts, one of them lilac colour; a single- barrelled air Pistol, nickle- plated, without spring ; 2 small sized Nos. 1 and 2 Coats, of black worsted cloth, made in jacket fashion, trimmed with covered buttons, bound round with black braid, 2 pockets outside in skirts and one in left breast; 2 single- breasted Vests tq match, with covered buttons and bound round; and a black alpaca Umbrella, with egg- shaped handle, top part of handle yellow with black spots, has silver- plated rim~ round the handle, engraved on plate on handle ' A. E. Berry, Belgrave- crescent, Croft'; also supposed a number of amberJBrooches. Suspi- cion is attached to two young men, from 20 to 22 years of age, 6 feet 5 inches high, sallow complexion, small dark moustache and of slight build ; the other, about 18 years of age, 5 ft. 2 or 3 inches high, sallow looking and thin build ; each had on dark clothes, with billycock hats and red silk ties. Both had the appearance of betting men or billiard players, and spoke with the Birmingham or Sheffield dialect. Information to Mr. E. J. Wanted for burglary at Moss Side, on 24th instant :— a man, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, sandy hair, whiskers, and moustache ; dressed in a dark tweed coat and vest, and black billycock hat. Information to the County Police Office, OLD TRAFFORD, Manchester. — Bow - street June 27. Stolen, by means of burglary on 23id instant at Lenham Kent :— a Cheque for M 13s. 6d., drawn by W. Walland on Eondon and County Bank, Maidstone, and backed by W. Jarvis and W. Bensted ; £ 6 in Gold, £ 2 in Silver, about £ 2 in Bronae ; a brown leather Purse and half- a- dozen Keys in a- bunch, rather rusty. Information to Supt. July 13 HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING^ Stolen at Newton Heath, between 9 p. m., 3rd, and 6 a. m 4th instant:— a black Horse, with one white fetlock ai- d star on firehead, about 15£ hands high, 7 years old ; had on a brass- mounted bridie and leather reins. Information to County Police Office, OLD TRAFFORD, Manchester.— Bow- street, July 6. Stolen on 14th instant, whilst unattended in Breakspear Road, Le wish am :— a light bay horse Pony, aged, 13 hands high, star on forehead and white mark on nose, hog mane, slight wound on near side; a set of brown leather brass mounted Harness ; a light spring Cart, painted blue, picked out white, ' J. Quilter, 145, Lewisham High Road,' thereon, containing au old dark blue Overcoat, grey Bag, glazed loin Cloth, and a quantity of Pish. By a man, 32 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark complexion, Handy hair, small side whiskers ; dressed in long black diagonal coat, grey trousers, and black hard felt hat,. LAKGENY AMD EMBEZZLEMENT Further information respecting the Cottage robbery at Little Bines, Ticehurst, advertised in Police Gazette of 4th instant. It has since been ascertained, that the man suspected is, and was at the time, confined in f. n hospital at Eastbourne ; the thief was seen hastening towards Tieehurst- road Station to catch 11 a. m. train same day. Information to Mr. Supt. Jenner, BATTLE, or to Sergeant Buss, BURWASH.— Bow- s'. reet, July 6. Further information respecting the robbery at East- bourne, advertised in Police Gazette of 2nd instant, the whole of the articles have been recovered, and a woman appre- hended for stealing the same :— SABINE CORDIER. alias MARIE DU CLESSIS, alias MARGUERITE PERRIN, about 28 years of ag< s, 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion, large full grey eyes, showing much white, rather high cheek bones, and plain mouth, has six false upper teeth, four on right side, and two on the left, medium figure; a French governess, speaks very little English; dressed in black beaded bonnet, with broad black satin strings, black veil, black broche silk jacket, and black dress. Information to Mr. Supt. Newnham, East Sussex Constabulary, EASTBOURNE. — Bow- street, July 6. Wanted at Leeds, by warrant, on a charge of stealing a Horse and Trap, since recovered : — DANIEL TUNNA- CLIFFE, 20 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, pile com- plexion, sickly looking, scar on left temple, dark brown hair, and no whiskers ; dressed in a dark short coat, gray trousers, low crowned felt hat, and elastic side boots. Absconded from Euxton Hall, on 26t. h ultimo, charged on a warrant with larceny :— PAUL POTTER, 34 years of age, 6 feet li inches high, rather light build, fresh com- plexion, dark hair, whiskers and moustache, ring tattooed on one finger ; dressed in dark grey jacket, dark cloth trousers, hard black billycock hat, and shoes laced in four holes. Information to Mr. Supt. Beetham, CHORLEY, Lancashire.— Bow- street, July 4. Stolen about 5 " 20 p. m. 2nd instant, from a small bag hanging from a lady's neck, whilst at the Great Western Railway Station, Oxford :—.£ 6 in Gold, about 2s. in Silver, and some silver German Coins, and an old brown leather Purse, opens with a spring, four compartments, grey leather inside. Supposed by a man, 28 or 30 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, was wearing a straw hat, and a flower in his coat, of swarthy appearance, slight moustache and whis- keis, chin shaved. Wanted on a warrant:— FRANK GREENHALL, alias NORMAN, about 35 years of age, stands about. 5 feet 6 inehes high, fair complexion, stout build, light hair, slight whiskers, moustache inclined to be sandy; dressed in blue coat, aud straw hat; a pianoforte maker, which trade he will most likely seek employment Charged with stealing a Tricycle on 16th ultimo, and disposed of the same in Lancaster. Infor- mation to T. Rowley, Chief Constable, STRATFORD- ON- AVON — Bow- street, July 4. Description of a tramping painter and convicted thief, wanted at this office, changed with stealing. three paint Brushes on 21st ultimo ( since recovered) :•— he is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, stoutiah build, sallow complexion, dark hair, whiskers aud moustache, has a cut mark on bridge of nose, blue ooal mark on left cheek, and a boil mark on right side of neck ; dressed in a dark coat and trousers, light tweed vest, lace up boots, and hard felt tat. He was traced to Rochdale on the afternoon of 21at ultimo, and theu lost. His wife reside* at Ashton- under- Lyne. Information to Mr. Supt. Henderfeon, BACUP, Lancashire.— Bow- street, July 2. Wanted at Ruthin, charged with stealing the lower part of a set of Artificial Teeth, laid in gold ( not recovered) !— JOSEPH JONES, alias ' JOE BAROIAN, 1 a native ofi Ruthin, about 17 or 18 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, and daik brown hair; dressed in brown clothes and roundi felt hat. Also, with receiving the same, knowing them to have been stolen, ROBT. WILLIAMS, alias ' BOB TATTWS' LLAETH, 18 to 20 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, brown hair, small moustache, pale face, and scar on upper lip ; dressed in light brown clothes much worn, light iloth double peak cap, and old laee- up boots. Absconded from Brislington, on 20ih instant, charged with stealing a coat ( recovered) :— a tramping lahourer, troni 30 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, sandy inous- tache, short beard, rather florid complexion, slight build ; dressed in hard round blsofe hat, white'alop, fustian jacket and trousers, grey shirt, aid lace- up boots. Information to, Mr. Supt. Ecnson, Somerset Constabulary, TEMPLE CLOUD, near Bristol.— Bnw- street, June 27. Wanted on a warrant for stealing 12s 6d., at Mynyddys- lwynt on 16t. li March last:— JOHN JONES, alias PENRY, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, proportiouaU- figure, rather dark complexion, dark brow:' hair, small dark whiskers and moustache ( supposed shaved since) ; dressed in brown cloth coat, with short blue serge jacket underneath cord breeches, moleskin leggings Wellington boots, and hard bowler hao; is a haulier and labourer; supposed to bd travelling wi th Day's Wild Beast Show; was convicted at. the Brecon Quarter Sessions, on 17th Ostober, 1877, for obtaining Goods- by false pretences, and also on 2ud Jan., 1878,' for embezzlement, both times in the name of John Penry. Information to Mr. Supt. Whitfield, PONTYPOOL.— Bom- street, June 27. Description of CHAS. JAGER, a bank clerk, late of 34, Darville Road, Stoke Newingion, who absconded on 19th ultimo, and whose arrest is sought on a warrant for steal- ing a Cheque, the property of hii employers:— 21 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, slim, fresh complexion, sharp features, large nose, brown hair ( cut short and parted over left temple, no whiskers, slight fair moustache, grey or hazel eyes ; dress, when last seen, grey suit and very low hard felt hat, gold tie pin, shape of a horseshoe, with whip through it, lash absent. He is of horsey appearance, and frequents billiard rooms and the oompany of betting men, and is well- kirown at the houses* they frequent; supposed accompanied by a female, 20 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, dark com- pWtxion, hair ( cut short behind), and eyes ; dressed in blue dreaa, waistbaud. with large horseshoe buckle, and blaoksilk hat. They left No. 10, Guildford Street, Russell Square, on the morning'of 19th ultimo, in two hansom cabs with port1- manteau each,. the female taking away, another portmanteau in a four- wheel cab the same evening. .£ 50 reward will be paid by Messrs. Munns and Longdon, 8, Old Jewry, London, E C, to any person who shall give information leading to Jager's apprehension. Information to the Director ef Criminal Investigations, GREAT SCOTLAND YARD, S. W. — Bow street, June 29. Wanted on a warrant:— ED WD. LITTLEMORE, alias HOOSE, 32 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, sallow com- plexion, brown hair and eyes, right, foot cut off, paralysed on right side, works his face and right arm when talking, and uses arm crutch on the left side ; dressed in brown coat with pockets on each side with lids, brown tweed trousers with stripe down the leg, black cloth cap ( straight peak), tied with a piece of biue ribbon on top. Charged with stealing Two Pounds Eighteen Shillings and Sixpence, in Silver, and Five Pence Halfpenny iu Copper, from a lodging- house at Over, during the night of 22nd instant. Information to Mr. Supt. Naylor, Constabulary Office, GAKMERE, Northwich, Cheshiie. — Bow- street, Jwne 29. Description of CHARLES NOBLE, alias PADDY, on the railway, charged on warrant with stealing a silver Wateh and Chain ( not recovered), at Fishguard, on 11th instant:— he is from 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, swarthy complexion, black hair and moustache, proportionate figure.
