Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of ths Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor mas* he prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Charged with the wilful murder of a new 1 / 1 o n m la child, bv piocuring abortion :— MARY FARMER, 45 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, stout build, full face, fresh complexion, brown eyes, brown hair ; dressed at the time iu a light cotton drfs>, black shawl and bonnet. She is a tailoress, and was lodging until 13th instant at ber daughters, Alexandra Street, Lower Camden Street, Birmingham. At an inquest held upon the body of the child, the jury returned a verdict of ' Wilful Murder.' information to J. Farndal", E q., Chief of Police, Birmingham.— Bow- ttreet, June 29 FORGERY. Since 25t. h ultimo 29 forged or fabricated Notes, purport- ing to be £\ Notes of the Royal Bank of Scotland, have been uttered in Glasgow and the West of Scotland ; a reward of One Hundred Pounds will be paid by the Directors of the Koval Bank of Scotland to the person who will fnrnish the subscriber, or any officer of police, with such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the person or persons concerned in the forging and uttering of the said Notes, and to the recovery of the plate from which they had been printed. Description of Forged Notes :— the Forged Notes are all numbertd ' M 671 | 695', and d tted lst July 1882, and have the words Promise to pay to James Wright or the bearer' engraved on the body of them, whereas all the genuine Royal Bank Notes issued since 1874 have only the words ' Promise to pay on dernaud to the Bearer,' and the name ' James Wright' omitted. The ( jlatefum which the Forged Notes have been printed baa borne the words,' Engravtd on steel by W. H. Liziis, Edin- burgh.' Desci iptio i fcof a man who passed several of the Forged Notes in shopH in the Eastern District of Glasgow : 40 to 45 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark brown hair, bare face, which is red and blotched, very small nose, and stout made ; dressed in a black shabby frock coat, bound with very broad black braid, and black satin hat. Stolen from the person at the Paragon Railway Station Hull, on 13th instant:— a gold Geneva Watcb, No. 41886, crystal glass, ' Benson, Regent Street, London,' engraved on dome; also a gold Guard, with long Newgate and short links, gold Locket attached, engraved 4 W. Wanted for burglary at Moss Side, on 24th instant :—- a man, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, sandy hair, whiskers, and moustache ; dressed in a dark tweed coat aud vest, aud black billycock hat. Information to the County Police Office, OLD TRAFFORD, Manchester. — Bow - street, June 27. Stolen by means of burglary on 23td iastant at Lsnham, Kent :— a Cneque for £ 4 13d. Od., drawn by W. Watland on London and Couuty Bank, Maidstone, and backed by W. Jarvls and W. Information to Inspector Atkin, County Police Station, WOKINGHAM,— Bow- street, June 25. During the night of 22nd instant the office of the Manager of the Camerton Coal Works was broken and entered, and stolen therefrom about £ 118 in gold, silver, and bronze Money, contained in several small canvas bags, some of them marked ' C. C. W.' in ink, one of the bags contained £ 25 in lialf- soveraigns. Information to Mr. Supt. Mcrgau, County Police Station, WESTON, near Bath,— Bow St., June 25. Stolen from a dwelling- house at F. rnwoith, between 11 p. m. 19th and 5.30 a. m. 20th instant,;— j. woman's cotton printed Jacket, blue, red and white check, the blue stiipes heavier than the r. jd or white, collar to neck of same material, and cross bands round the bottom, white linen civered buttons down the front; a black, red and white plaid wcollen shoulder shawl; a large woollen shawl, broken plaid, colours black, red, white and brotvn. Entree * effected by pushing back the window catch, opening the window and reacbiugthe articles with the hand from off a chair near the wiudow. In- formation to Mr. Supt. Committed for trial at the ensuing Sessions for War- wick, on 3rd proximo, charged with housebreaking:— HENRY WESTON, a tramp, a native of Birmingham, 32 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, sallow complexion, bl? ck hair, very thick, brown moustache, grev eyes ( large and restless), marks— lart, e scar inside of < alf of left leg, burn matk on right buttock, several large warts on right forefinger and thumb, one tooth only in the front of upper jaw; dressed in an old brown shooting jacket, dark plaid vest, aud cord trousers, all old aud dirty ; states he is a brass caster by trade, but has been ti am ping about chietly in the Midland CountieH, for some time past; he has been convicted at. Bii- miaghaui, for felony, the last time being January, 1880, Sess., sentenced to 3 months h. l. ai d 1 year's police supervision. A tramp is still wanted for being concerned in the case cf housebreaking, upon which the man above described stands committed : — he ia about 32 years of age, about 5 feet 6 ins. high, brown hair, slight whiskers and moustache, stout build; dressed in an old blue ribbed jacket and vest., dark striped trousers, black hard felt hat, wore a red and black check scarf, tied in a sailor's knot. Information to R. Hannah, ATHERSTONE, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, June 22. whiskers ; dressed in long black diagonal coat, grey trousers, and Dlack hard felt bat. Stolen during the right of 22nd instaut:— a bay Mare, 14 hands high, off hind fetlock white, star on forehead, wheel mark on near hind hock, and bent- over on foivlegs. Stolen from a field at St. Aim's Road, Tottenham, during the night of 12th instant: — two Horses, one, a brown mare, clipped trace high, 15 hauds 2 inches, A lSi branded on fore- hoofs ; the other a brown horse, 15 hands, A 37 branded on fore- hoofs, both iu good condition. Charged - with stealing a quantity of Brass and Iron, at Sandyford, in the month of May :— JAMES BOWERS, an old iron and metal dealer, of Tunstall, 5C years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, swarthy complexion, full round face, brown hair, whiskers, and mous- tache, brown eyes, thick- set build, married ; dressed in black hat, dark grey jacket, moleskin trousers, and lace- up boots, clotheK very dirty from handling old iron. JOHN WALLEY, a notter's fireman, of Sandyfoid, 35 years old, 5 faet 8 inches high, dark hair aud complexion, medium build, single ; dressed in hard black hat, black cloth jacket, and cord trousers,, JAMES PORTER, or WALLEY, a potters fireman, of SandyfcrJ, 50 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark com- plexion, hair turning grey, clean shaved, medium build, rather round shoulders, married ; dressed in soft black hat, and black cloth jacket. Stolon from a Traction Engine Van, at Ellislield, near Basingstoke, between 11 p. m. on 22nd and 6 am. on 23rd instant:— a light pair of man's lace- up Boots, brass eyelet holes, hooks at top, boot protectors in bottoms, supposed 7 in right boot and 11 in left; one pair of nearly new moleskin Trousers, dirty and greasy, hole in light knee; an old dark cloth reefer Jacket, pockets at hips ; a Purse, containing Haif- a- Sovereign, about 11 Shillings in Silver, and a few Coppers. By a tramp who hawks buttons, about 50 years of age, 5 feet 4 to 6 inches high, rather red face, blue eyes, grey hair and whiskers cut short, rather stout build, right hand swollen, and bound up with dirty white rag ; dressed in stolen cloth- ing and boots. Information to Mr. Supt. W. Rapkins, Hants Constabulary, BASINGSTOKE. — Bow- st'/ eet, June 29. Wanted on a warrant for stealing 12s. 6d., at Mynyddys- lwyn, on 16tk March last:— JOHN JONES, alias PENRY, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, proportionate figure, rather dark complexion, dark brown hair, small dark whiskers and moustache ( supposed shaved since) ; dressed in brown cloth coat, with short blue serge jacket underneath, cord breeches, moleskin leggings, Wellington boots, and hard bowler hat ; is a haulier aud labourer; supposed to be travelling with Day's Wild Beast Show; was convicted at the Brecon Quarter Sessions, on 17th October, 1877, for obtaining Goods by false pretences, and also ou 2nd Jan., 1878, for embezzlement, both times in the name of John Penry. Information to Mr. Supt. Whitfield, PONTYPOOL.— Bow- street, June 27. Stolen at Patricroft, between 5- 50 and 6 p. m. 22nd inst. — a black leather Purse, and a red morocco Purse, both new. Suspicion attached to three mill girls, one ef whom is about 22 years of age, 5 feet high, medium build, dark hair and eyes ; dressed in a black and white Bhawl, and black velvet hat. Information to County Police Office, OLD TUAFFORD, Manchester.— Bow- street, June 27. Stolen near Bala, Merionethshire, on 21st instant : — one English patent lever silver Watch, maker's name ' Hughes, Llangollen', plain cases, shield on back, second fingers, No. 11734, the spring pusher, that open back cases, is missing, common curb Albert Chain, with large old- fashioned Seal attached. Supposed by a young man, 21 or 22' years of age, 5 fest 2 inches high, dark brown hair, cut short, no whiskers, long thin face ; dressed in black cap, small peak, partly covered with black velvet, and tassel on crown, dark grey jacket, torn between the shoulders, he wore two waistcoats, one black ribbed fancy cloth, the other a blue cloth, with large button, corduroy trousers, torn on the knees and roughly stitched, and white muflier, and Lancashire clogs, with eyelets, he is well known about Minera, Brymbo, and the locality. Information to Inspector Williams, CORWEN, or to P. C. Wm. Jones, BALA, Merionethshire.— Bow- sireet, Jum 27. Absconded from Brislington, on 20ih instant, charged with stealing a coat ( recovered) :— a tramping labourer, from 30 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, sandy mous- tache, short beard, rather florid complexion, slight build; dressed in hard round black hat, white slop, fustian jacket and trjusers, grey shirt, and lace- up boots. Information to Mr. Supt. Emsop, Somerset Constabulary, TEMPLE CLOUD, near Bristol.— Bow- sireet, June 27. Absconded, charged with Larceny :— JOHN PENNY TUCKER, a solicitor's clerk, 20 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, slight build, very fair complexion, light curly hair, blue eyes, very white large teeth, prepossession appearance ; dressed lc. light dust overcoat, dark cut - away coat, under coat, and vest, light trousers, lace boots, and high black hat. Warrant issued. Information to the Director of Criminal Investigations, GREAT SCOTLAND YARD, S. W.— Boin- sireet, June 27. Stolen about 5 a. m. on 20th instant, at Littlehampton :— a pair of high low Shose ( recovered); a pair of heavy lace up Boots, nailed, to fit a lad about 18, nearly new ; a blue Guernsey, nearly new ; three pairs of home knitted worsted Stockings; a black hard felt Hat; a black cloth Cap with peak ; and an old German silver Watch, almost useless. By a man. about 30 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, rather slight build, fair complexion, brown hair, very few whiskers at sides of face, and small light moustache ; dressed in dark tweed coat, black or very dark cord trousers, white wrapper with | blue spots, dark cloth cap with peak, turning down- wards, or may be wearing the stolen felt hat. He was traced to New Shoreham and Southwick the same day, goiog towards Brighton ; he stated he had worked at breweries. Information to Mr. Supt. Puttock, Police Station, LITTLE- HAMPTON, West Sussex.— Bow- street, June 25 Stolen at Welshpool on 20th instant: — a pair of light drab Trousers, men's size, about half worn, fly front, pistol pocket at back of right side, torn at back of left leg, which has been darned. Supposed by a man, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches liigb, brown hair, whiskers, and moustache, chin shaved, stout make ; dressed in a soft black jim crow hat, grey coat and vest, light cotton cord trousers. He has been employed as a clerk at the Cambrian Railway, Oswestry, and is well known to the Company's servants. Information to Mr. Supt. E lis, WELSHPOOL, Montgomeryshire.— bow- street, Juno 25. Stolen at Minterne Magna, between 8.30 and 12 a. m. on 22nd instanta grey plaid Jacket; a pair of light striped Trousers and Vest; a pair of light lace- np Boots with brass eyelet holes, and 6' s. in Money. By a man about 20 years of age, 5 feet 3 t r 4 inches high, small moustache, light brown hair, tear on nose and face ; dressed in snuff- coloured coat and vest, dirty moleskin trousers, and brown polo cap with peak in front and back. Stated he had been with Garrett's circus 9 months, and was going to Bristol, he was wearing the stolen boots and loft the old ones behind. Information to Supt. He is a native of Hutton, Westmorland, and has a brother residing there, aud has relatives residing at Crook and Gilpin Bridge. Has been in the employ of the Eurness Railway Company, was foreman porter at Grange, and station master at Foxhill Junction; is well known at Ulverston, Barrow- in- Furness, Woikington, Whitehaven, and other parts of Cumberland. Wanted under warrant, on two charges of fraud :— JAMES RIDGEWAY, alias WILLIAM HENRY REY- NOLDS, a native of Birmingham, 57 years of age, 5 feet 8| inches high, grey hair, beard, and moustache, blind of left eye, the right eye light blue, aallow complexion, freckled arms and neck, several white spots on back of shoulders, and mole on right elbow- joint; he is a noted ' long firm swindler.' At Chester Assizes, in March, 1857, he was sentenced to 4 years penal servitude, for fraud, and for a similar offence, at the Carlisle October Sessions, in 1874, he was sentenced to 7 years penal servitude and 7 years police supervision; at Liverpool, in March, 1881, his license was revoked ; aud twice subsequently at Manchester, he has undergone lengthened terms of imprisonment, under the ' Prevention of Crimes Act'; latterly he has resided at Liverpool, but decamped a few days ago. Description of JOSEPH ROWLAND, alias ROWLES, and JAMES ROWLEY, remanded to 3rd proximo, on a charge of vagrancy. In their possession were found 60 yards of Netting for taking Rabbits, and a number of stakes. Rowland was apprehended by the Manchester Police in March last, for poaching and assaulting the police in Cheshire, he has also been convicted at Frodsham, Cheshire ; Rowley is supposed to have come from Runcorn : — Rowland is 54 yrs. of age, 5 feet high, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes; dressed in black cloth cap, tied with string at top, blue pilot cloth coat, moleskin troupers, and lace- up boots.
