A PROCLAMATION. By the Lord Lieutenant- General and General Governor of Ireland. SPENCER. WHEREAS by our Proclamation, dated the 9th May, 1889, We offered a reward of Ten Thousand Pounds to any person or persons who should, withio a limited time therein specified, give such information as would lead to the conviction of the Murderers of Lord Frederick Cavendish, the Chief Secretary, and Thomas Henry Burke, Esquire, the Under Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, in the Phoenix Park, Dublin, on the 6th May, 1882 : And whereas the time therein specified for giving such information has expired: Now We, the Lord Lieutenant- General and General Governor of Ireland, are pleased to renew the said offer, and We do hereby offer a reward of TEN THOUSAND POUNDS STERLING to any person or persons who, within six months from the date hereof, shall give such information as will lead to tha conviction of any of the Murderers : And a further reward of FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS for such private information as shall, within the same period, lead to the same result: AND whereas it is known that four perpetrators of these Murders escaped from the scene on an outside car which was driven away by a fifth person : Now We are also pleased hereby to offer to any person concerned in or privy to these Murders ( not being one of the above- mentioned four Murderers) who shall, within three months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of any one of the said four Murderers, a FREE PARDON and the special protection of the Crown in any pare of Her Majesty's Dominions, in addition to a reward ot FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS. Given at Dublin Castle, this 10th day of November, 1882. DESCRIPTION of the four men, wanted for murder of Lord F. Cavendish and Mr. Burke, the Chief and Under Secretaries for Ireland, in the Phoenix Park, on Saturday, 6th instant, between 7 and 8 P. M. :— 1. About 35 years old, stout make, dark complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache recently clipped, so as to give a bristling appearance, narrow forehead, natural hollow or dinge on bridge of nose; wore a ' soft black jerry hat and dark clothes. 2. About 30 years, sandy hair, whiskers, and moustache ; brown faded coat, as if much exposed to sun, soft black jerry hat. 3. About 20 years, small dark moustache, no whiskers f soft black hat and dark clothes, 4. About 30 years, sandy hair and moustache, beard on chin ; wore dark clothes and soft black hat. The height cannot be given of any, all being sitting on an outside car, driven by a man between 35 and 40 years, red bloated face, with a few days' growth of . beard on; dark or brown coat, supposed frieze, and low soft black hat. The horse was a bay or chestnut, of good action, and the car had either a dark green or a red panel. The men had the appearance of sailors or well- to- do- artisans.— JOHN MALLON, Superintendent. Field, of Westmoreland- street, in this city, was, on the evening of the 27th November instant, about six o'clock, at North Frederick- street, in this city, feloniously and malici- ously stibbei and wounded by some person or persons, who immediately afterwards got on aa out- side car which wai waiting in Hardwicke- street, and drove off rapidly through Hardwicke- place i ' Now, We, John Poyntz, Earl Spencer, Lord Lieutenant- General and General- Governor of Ire- Ireland, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the offenders and their accomplices, hereby, offer a reward of FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who, within three months from the date hereof, shall give such information as will lead to the conviction of the- said offenders or their accomplices, or any of them. • : And a further reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information as shall, within the said period, lead to the same result. And We hereby promise that every effortill be m^ de to insure that tbe name or names of any person or persons who may become entitled to, the, said reward for private information shall not be disclosed or made public, and that the said reward shall be paid in any manner in which such person shall desire. ( THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY* DECEMBER 5, 1882 PARTICULARS relative to convict John Desmond, 14,776, convicted at Macroom, county Cork, at the Quarter Sessions, on the 17 th April. 1878, for assault with intent to rob, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude— 85 years of age on conviction, is a Roman Catholic, married, has two children, is a repairer of fishing tackle, born in Barrack- street, Cork, where he resided before conviction, and where his friends reside; brown hair, brown eyes, brown eyebrows, regular nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, average make, 5 feet 3f inches high, has a cut- mark ovrr each eyebrow. This man was released on licence from Spike Island Prison, 19th May, 1882, and went to reside at Queenstown. He has failed to report himself to the Police on change of residence, and his present whereabouts are unknown. He is supposed to have gone to sea. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 6th section of the Act ! U and 85 Vic., cap. 113. General Prisons Board, Dublin Castle. November 13, 1882. ( 95 188 M.— 454IW, ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY. Antrim. Young offenders, John Fyfe and William J. Tate, described in Hue- and- Cry of 15 th September last, have not been arrested. Belfast. DESCRIPTION of Elizabeth Anne Rice, native of 68, Abyssinia- street, Belfast, who left her home at ' 60, Abyssinia- street, Belfast, on the 17th October, 1882. in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill. and has not since been heard of, and it is supposed some accident has befallen her, or haa been taken away by some person :— Blue eyes, short nose, fair complexion, round face, slight make, 4 feet high, about 11 yeirg of age, dark brown hair cut short; wore a dark navy blue dres » , with kilty plaiting, and a large Paisley shawl, a little faded; had no boots on. , Belfast West, Nov. 17, 1883. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Daly, native of Kilsarn, and John Reilly, native of Carnagn, who stand charged with having, on the 95th November, 1883, at Kilcogy, in the. barony ot Clonmahon, parish of Drumlummon, grievously assaulted Thomas Fitzpatrick, of Kilmore, county Longford, Patrick Murray, of Portanure, a; d Francis Murray, of Portanure, county Cavan, by striking them with sticts or whips, inflicting bodily harm, and thereby placing the life of Francis Murray in danger. 1. Smart appearance, high bridge on nose, small dark moustache, no wiiiskers, dark or brown eyes, long nose, sallow complexion, regular face, medium make, 6 feet 9 inches high, about 28 years of age, dark hair ; wore a jerry hat, suppo- x- d will wear tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, lately purchased, colour not known; is a farmer's son. 2. Gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, full face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 31 years of age, light brown hair; wore a jerry hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, a good deal worn ; is a farmer's son. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Hickey, native of Lahinch, who stands charged with havi g. on the night of " ih or morning oi 7th August, in the oarony of ot Corcomroe, parish of Kilmanaheen, stolen two sheep, the property of Patrick Lynch, of Ennis- tymon:— Slightly stooped shoulders, slouching guit, holds his head down, and generally keeps his hands in trowsers pockets when walking, dark eyes, regular nose, dark sallow complexion, thin face, medium make, 0 feet high, about 45 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard round hat, long dark coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a butcher. DESCriptiON of Philip Denehy, ( mother's surname Sullivan), native of Cloonts, county Kerry, who stands charged with having, on the 26th November, I 882, in the barony of Duhallow, pariah of Nohovaldaly, indecently assaulted and attempted to commit a rape on Eliza Murphy:— Awkward gait, gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair; wore a low jerry hat, black tweed coat, gray tweed trowsers, and gray t* eed vest; is a labourer; sometimes works at Kilmallock, county Limerick. Kanturk Nov. 3°, 188?. ( 55355 o.— 7808.) DESCRIPTION of John Desmond, alias Renning, native of Cork, who was found in the town of Charle- ville, on 29th Nov., under suspicious circumstances. He bad in his possession 61 sovereigns, 25 half- sovereigns, 14 florins, 11 half- crowns. Is. 6d. in silver, and t> jd. in coppers; also discharge papers from 8th Foot, dated 2nd Nov., 1878, and medal for good conduct:— Shaves all his face, except moustache; sunken eyes and jaws, light blue eyes, long nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5feet 5 inches high, about 40 years ot age, iron- gray hair, wore a hard black hat, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. Charleville, Nov. 29, 1882. ( 65350 o.— 7784.) DESCRIPTION of John Gilbert, native of Lurgan, county Armagh, who, on the 15th instant, in the barony of Duhallow, parish of Clonfert, waa arrested under sec. 13 of Prevention of Crime ( Ireland) Act, 1883, and committed for one month to Cork Gaol on his failing to find sureties to keep the peace :— Tbe letters J. J. on left wrist, three blue dots on back of left hand, thumbs of both bands crooked as if dis- jointed, varicose veins in calf of left leg, blue eyes, long nose. f » > ir complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a fur c& p. dark gray coat, gray trowsers and vest; is a painter. This person may have committed crime elsewhere, as there is nothing known about him in Lurgan, where he stated he is from, and that his father is a shoemaker and lived in Church place. DonegaL Samuel O'Donnell ( embezzlement , not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 27th October, 1882. Down. DESCRIPTION of a person, name and native place unknown, who standi charged with having, on the night of the 24th or morning of the 25th October, 1883, in the barony of Lower Iveagh, parish of Dromore, stolen out of a field at Coolsallagh, two bullocks, the property of John Morrow, which he afterwards sold to William Fishbourne, of Bally- nahinch :— Respectable appearance, cheek bones rather high, sharp chin, small hands, soft and white as if unused to work, small eyes, regular nos> e, fresh complexion, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 20 years of age, dark hair and small light moustache ; wore a low hard hat, dark tweed coat, dark trowsers and veat. DESCRIPTION of harness, the property of Major- General George De Renzy, of Willbrook House, which was stolen from his stable, on the lands of Willbrook, parish of Rathfarnham. barony of Rath- do wn, on the 3rd November, 1882 :—- One single set of silver- mounted harness, crest '- rampant lion"; value for about £ 10. Is supposed to have been brought for sale to some part of the county Wicklow within the last few days. The crest has been removed, but t* e mark of it probably remains on tbe harness. P. Byrne, Esquire, j p., of Bally- boghil :— Smart figure, swarthy dark sullen com- plexion, thin dark hair on face, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 36 years of age, dark hair; wore a soft black hat, dark jacket, dark blue trowsers, and dark blue Goernsfy ; shirt had on a broad- webbed belt wit' small leather pouches sewed on same. Sailcrdi' appearance, silent manner, and looked if somewhat simple; always said he was is a labourer. Balbriggan, Nov. 9,1882. Benjamin Hawtrey ( stealing), described in Hue- and- Cry of 13th October, 1882, has not been arrested. DESPCBITION of William Hoey, native of Dublin, and Richard Quinn and James( natives of St. Lawrence, county Dublin, charged with having, on the 6th October, the barony of Uppercross, pariah of Palmersto assaulted and intimidated Bernard Kelly and Fran Reilly, when at their lawful employment on of Quarryvale:— 1. Gray eyes, regular nose, sallow compTfexion round face, stout make, 6 feet 9 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a round Galway. DUBLIN CASTLE, 9th June, 1882. WHEREAS at or about the hour of twenty minutes past three o'clock, P. M., on Thursday, the 8th June, instant, Walter M. Bourke, Esq., of Rahassane Park, Craugliwell, in the county of Galway, and Corporal Wallace, of the Royal Dragoons, were shot dead on the road close to one ot the gates of Castle Taylor Demesne, near Ardrahan, in the said county, by some person or persons at present unknown : His Excellency, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of these Murders, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of TWO THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six; months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons, or any of them, who committed the said Murders. And a further reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the same result. His Excellency is also pleased to offer in addition to the above rewards a FREE PARDON and the Special Protection of the Crown in any part of Her Majesty's Dominions to any person concerned in, or privy to, the said Murders other than the person or persons who actually committed the same, in case of his giving such information as shall lead to the con- viction of the persons, or any of them, concerned in the Murders aforesaid. And whereas any person who knowingly receives into his or her house or . otherwise harbours or maintains any of the persons who committed the said Murders, or conceals or aids any of them in escaping or endeavouring to escape from justice becomes liable to penal servitude for life : His Excellency is pleased hereby to offer a reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within three months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the CONVICTION of any person who has so received, harboured, maintained, or concealed, or assisted in endeavouring to escape from justice, or who shall receive, harbour, maintain, or conceal, or assist in endeavouring to escape from justice, any of the persons who committed the said Murders. By His Excellency's Command, R. G. C. HAMILTON. The above rewards will be paid, on conviction, by D. B. Franks, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Gort, to those who may become entitled to them under the conditions of this Proclamation. Patrick Connell ( young offender), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 13th October, lb82. Leitrim. DESCRIPTION of two persons, namu and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the night of 27th October, 1882, in the barouy of Mohill, parish of Cloone, appeared disguised and with blackened faces, and armed with guns, visited the houses of Archibald and Arthur Nicholl, cf Drumbore, and forcibly took away two guns and a pistol from said houses, the property of said Archibald and Arthur Nicholl:— 1. Blackened face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 26 years of age, no beard or whiskers ; wore a flat cap, and a cloak over shoulders. 2. Blackened face, slight make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 20 years of age. no beard; wore a hat like a policeman's helmet, corduroy trowsers, and a bag over his shoulders. Description ol arms stolen :— 1. The property of Archibald Nicholl— A singlo- barrel muzzle- loading fowling- piece, pipes for ramrod tied with wax end round barrel, a small piece of silver on stock near hammer; value for £ 1 15 « . 2. The property of Arthur Nicholl— A double- barrel muzzle loading fowling- piece one nippel larger than the other, stock broken between the locks ; value for £ 3. 3. A double- barrel muzzle- loading pistol; value for £ 1. Mohill, November 1, 1882. ( 64317 c— 5372) Limerick. DESCRIPTION of Richard Bourke, native of Bilboa, who btan'lf charged with having, on the 26th Novem- ber, tuny, about II o'clock, AM., in the barooy of Coonagh. parish of DOOn, seriously assaulted Patrick Walsh by striking him on the head, and inflicting a dangerous wound, thereby placing his life in danger:— Gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, stout make, 6 feet 8 inches high, about 40 years of age, fair hair; wore a round black hat, gray friez- 3 coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer. New Pallas, Nov. 27, 1882. ( 55340 c.— 7773.) DESCRIPTION of three men, names unknown, who stand charged with having, on tho Slst August, 1884, stolen the sum of twnnty pounds ten shillings, the property of Mrs. Margaret Hennessy, from her dwelling- house, in the barony of Lower Connello, parish of Kilscannell:— 1.
