Stolen by means of housebreaking at the Smyth's Arms Inn, Long Ashton, Somerset, between 5 and 7 p. m. on 25th instant :— a lady's gold Geneva Watch, No. 37981, gold dial and steel hands, engraved on outside case a church or a castle, and a gold albert Chain attached with trace links and plain pattern, and a gold Key at the end, with a jiale blue stone in it; a silver Locket with ivy or fern leaves engraved on out- side, with a large silver Chain attached ; a silver Bracelet about J inch wide ; a pair of gold Earrings, with a small stone in centre, and diamond pattern, and a square Russian leather purse with double clasp. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING Stolen from a field at Aldridge, during the night of 29th ultimo :— a dark brown thorough bred Horse, aged, about 14 bands high, large saddle mark on back, rather lame in one fore foot, and in low condition; and a mouse- colour mare Pony, aged, about 13 hands high, shaggy mane, tail cut short, iu good condition, and has been fired. Stolen from a meadow, at Kingsdown, Kent, during the night of 13th ultimo :— an iron grey half- bred Mare, 5 years old, 16 hands high, long switch tail, straight on fore joints, and a small lump on off eye. Charged with stealing two Horses at Cleeve, on night of 25th ultimo, and one ditto on night of 30th at Clevedon ( found disposed of iu Bristo') :— a man, about 33 or 34 years of age, 4 feet 10 inches high, remarkably small stature, face very much pitted with smallpox, light brown hair, and clean shived ; dressed in a suit of grey mixture cloth, tight- fitting trousers, and hard Mack bowler hat; has the appearance of a jockey or cabman. Was seen in Bristol on the morning of 31st nltimo, but has since absconded. Information to Mr. Supt. Drewett, Somerset Constabulary, Flax Bourton, Bristol. — Bow- sireet, November 3. Stolen from a field at Powick, near Worcester, on 28th ultimo :— a chcstnut Mare, aged, about 14 hands high, white face, near hind fetlock white, in good condition. Stolen at> Cambridge, on 23rd instant:— A light chesnut mare Pony, aged, about 13 bauds high, with silver hog mane and tail, has a spot on near side near the back from an old wound ; also a light stained wood low Trap, with braes- mounted harness, and a silver- mounted Whip, makers ' Swain and Adney.' By a man, about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, usually cut very short, light moustache, supposed no whiskers, thin build ; is a low betting- man and was shabbily dressed ; it is supposed that his father kept a public- house, a few years since, in Duke- street, Oxford- street. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT Stolen from the Black Horse Lodging- house, at Chatteris, on morning of 30th ultimo :— a pair of man's drab cotton cord Trousers, nearly new, whole fall fronts, white bone buttons, lined with white twill calico, marked below the knee where they have been tied round with string. By a man, called CHARLIE, a hawker ot needles, writing- paper, & c. ; in summer he makes and hawks fire- stove ornaments ; 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, brown hair, tuft of hair on chin, rather inclined to be ginger ; dressed in long dark cloth coat, dark cloth cap with large crown, peak made of same material, and the stolen Trousers, as he left his old ones behind. Waqted at Kendal, on a charge of embezzlement :— ROWLAND EWAN, late coal agent to the Kendal Equit- able Industrial Co- operative Society, absconded on 28th 11 It., and was last seen at the Blue Bell Inn, Heversham ; about 2 P O L I C E G A Z E T T E. November 2 45 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, heavy busky whiskers, proportionate build, has lost some teeth on right side of upper jaw, hangs his head a little and sticks his shoulders up, a shuffling walker and simple looking. Has been in the employ of the Furness Rail- way Company ; was foreman porter at Grange Over Sands, and Station Master at Foxfield . function ; is well known at Barrow- in- Furness, Ulverston, Wokington. Whitehaven, =. nd other parts of Cumberland ; a native of Hutton ; dressed in black cloth coat and vest, grey trousers, and black felt hat. Information to Thomas Cotton, Chief Constable, Kendal, who holds a warrant for his arrest.— Bow- street, November 3. Description of JOHN HAMILTON, charged with steal- ing a treadle sewing Machine, with panelled cover, makers ' Sellars and Sons, No. 42158,' 22 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark complexion, dark brown hair and mous- tache, slender figure ; dressed in brown cloth or tweed suit, and imitation sealskin cap with peak. Left on 23rd ultimo, in company with his brother, DAVJD HAMILTON, 25 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion, much pockpitted, dark brown hair, whiskers, and moustache ; dressed in black coat and vest, brown cord trousers, soft billycock hat. Had with them a black horse and hawker's covered waggon, name ' David Hamilton,' painted thereon, and had a quantity of furniture and the stolen machiue with them. They sometimes work in c; al mines. Information to Supt. Clarkson, Police Office, Guisboro' N. R Yorka, who holds a warrant for the arrest of John Hamilton.— Bow- street, November 3. Absconded from Worcester, charged with stealing £ 16:— GEORGE GILES, an office boy, 16 yea- s of age, thin build, fresh complexion, light brown hair, cut short, hazel eyes, rather pointed chin and broad forehead; dressed in light brown sack coat, light trousers and vest, blue tjp coat and brown deer- stalker bat, was accompanied by another coy not so small. Information to Inspector Sominers, City Police Office, Worcester.— Bow- street, November 1. Stolen on 25th ultimo, from the Abbey Church, Worksop, the Contents of the Poor Boxes. By a man, 20 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, long visage, sallow complexion, light brown hair ; dressed in brown cloth jacket, black round hard felt hat, elastic side- spring boots ; looked like a joiner out of employ. Information te Mr. Supt. Irviue, County Police Station, Worksop, Notts.— Bow- street, November 1. Stolen, on 24th ultimo :— a lady's open- faced Geneva gold Wetcli, flowers engraved on back of case ; a silver Albert Chain, ring pattern ; a pair of round silver Ear- drops ; a pair of gold- plated Ear- drops, round. By a man, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair, dark whiskers, cut at sides of face, high cheek bones ; dressed in hard black felt hat, dark mixed jacket, mixed trousers, lighter than jacket, stand- up collar, very horsey appearance, has been a whip with hounds. Wanted on a charge of felony :- ERNEST BRAD- BURY, a barman, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 10 ins. high, pale complexion, dark hair and moustache, slim build, pro- minent nose, and hair very thin on the top of his head ; dresaed in a dark miugled suit, and new dark Newmarket overcoat, and round hard hat. Served in the 1st. Dragoon Guards, and the Tranaport Corps. Has his discharge iu his possession from the 1st Dragoon Guards. Is fond of the com- pany of prostitutes. Information to Mr. Jackson, Chief Con- stable, Sheffield, who holds the warrant for Bradbury's apprehension.— Bow- streit, November 1. Charged on warrant with having on 21th instant, stolen ten siiver Watches : - ALFRED SIMPSON, 27 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, no whiskers, slight moustache, rather long thin face ; dressed in a grey suit, irousera much darker than jacket; he has lost, his left hand, and wears a false hand with kid glove on, and is in the li « bit of placing his left hand on his hip ; he ia a book canvasser, and travels the county of Beds. He was heard of on 24th instant at the Red Lion public- house, St. Loges, Bedford, and lodged at Providence Cottage, Priory- street, Bedford ; is a married man with one child, and is well known at the Dog and Bacon Inn, Horsham, and in West Sussex. Information to Mr. Supt. Pike, Police Office, St. Alban's, Herts, who holds the warrant.— Bow- street, October 30. Wanted on warrant charged with stealing at Easingwold on 21st instant, a silver lever Watch. No. 3- 51, ( recovered) : — THOMAS MOORAN, from 26 to 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, which he wears rather long and slovenly, thin features, high cheek bones, sunken eyes, slender figure, and large ears which stand very much forward; generally dressed in moleskin vest and trousers, dark coat or jacket, dark woollen cap with peak of the same material, and strong laced boots, a puddler, and has worked at Stockton, Middlesboro', South Brink, and other places in the north where he is supposed to be well known. His wife keeps a common lodging house in Walingite, York. Information to Mr. Supt. Wright, North Riding Constabulary, Heworth, York, or to Inspector Archer, Easingwold.— Bow- street, October 30. Further information respecting WILLIAM BOLTER, a tramping shoemaker, a native of Kington, Herefordshire, wanted on a charge of felony at Gladistry, Radnorshire, on 4th Sept., 1880, and advertised in Police Gazette of 27th Sent, and 5th Nov., 1880 ; also Hue- aud- Cry, Gi. h Aug. last; he was Been at Iron Bridge, Salop, some 6 months ago, and went iu the direction of Wolverliamptou and Birmingham ; he appeared very dejected. Infoimatiou to the Chief Con- stable, Penybont, or Sergeant Thomas, near Radnor, Radnor- shire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 30. Wanted on warrant for embezzlement:— JOHN MORGAN, (- supposed proper name JAMES L YD FORD), 25 to 30 years or age, 5 feet 3 rr 4 inches high, slight build, very thin features, round hole in one cheek, ( supposed left), canned from abcess, dark complexion, dark hair, ( cut short), few daik whiskers, ( about li inch down'face), jj- di^ tit dark moustache; dressed in a low black flat crowned hat, pepper and salt ( short) jacket, striped trousers ; has previously followed races. In- formation to James Terry, Chief Constable, Brighton.— Bow- struct, October 30. FRAUDS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. Description of a woman who attempted to obtain £ 2 by false pretences, on 16th ultimo :— about 26 years of age, fresh complexion, daik brown hair, medium height ; dresaed in a dark mix'ure c'oth ulster, and black hat; had theappeirance of a domestic servant. Information to County Police Office, Old Trafiord, Manchester.— Bow- street, November 3. Charged with being a fraudulent bankrupt:— JONA- THAN GUEST, a publican, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, dark hair, slight sandy moustache, prominent nose, large scar on right cheek, short neck, round broad shoulders, slightly bow- legged, turns his feet out when walking, and generally has his hands iu his trousers packet; believed to be dressed iu a brown suit and round hard felt hat. Has from £ 1,000 to £ 2,010 in his pos- session. It is believed he will endeavour to leave the country. Information to Mr. J. Jackson, Chief Constable, Sheffield.— Boio- street, November 1. Charged on a warrant with obtaining a pair of men's light- nailed watertight Boots :— a man, who gave the name of DAVID DAVIS, 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 ins. high, fair comp'exion ; had the appearance of a groom ; dressed in light brown suit, and old elastic side boots.
