Notice.— It i « requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolon property, may bear the Signature of tha person requiring or tending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. O. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that « n information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, tegethor with the advertisement, forwarded to tlie Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all betters addressed to the Editor most be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. Advertisements ofEerimg rewards must state clearly:—( 1) The amount of the reward. ( 2) The conditions on which it is payable. ( 8). The person by whom it will be paid. They should be signed or accompanied by a letter, signed by t' « e persons forwarding . them. They should contain no expressions holding out any expectation of reward for the return of the property, without the apprehension of the offender. It is particularly requested that when, owing either to insufficiency or incorrectness of the address or other- wise, Copies of this Gazette are delivered to persons, to whom they are not addressed, or who are not now entitled to receive them, such Copies may be at once returned through the Post to " The Editor, Bow Street, Londoa." INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Charged with feleniously wounding Michael Donlan, at Grappenball, on 25th instant:— THOMAS BRYNE, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, sandy hair, whiskers, and moustache, has a recent scar on forehead, and cheek ; dressed in corduroy jacket and trousers, billycock hat, and his a farm labourer. Information to Snpt. Williamson, Town Hall, Buncorn, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, June 30 ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person, on 4th instant, at Newmarket races:— a gold double- bottomed English lever Watch, has owners name ' Charles Pilson' engraved on the inside, also a gold albert Guard, long links, attached to which was a two Guinea picce, one Guinea ditto, half Guinea ditto, and small gold Locket, containing the photo of a lady. Information to Supt. Long, Police Station, Newmarket, Cambs.— Bow- stree',, July 7. Charged with stealing 7s. 6d. in money, from the person of a girl 8 years old, on 1st instant, at Northwicli :— ELLEN KELLY, of Marston, 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes, proportinate figure, pockpitted ; dressed in blackjdress, long black jacket, trimmed • with black far, brown straw hat with white feather, and elastic side boots. Information to Supt. Hindley, Police Station, Middlewicli, or to Inspector Milington, Police StatioD, Cheshire, who hold the warraut for her arrest.— Bow- street, July 7. The tilver lever Watch, No. 1707, advertised in the Police Gazette of 26th ultimo, as stolen from the person, at Burslem on 21st ultimo, has been recovered. Information to Mr. ChiefjSupt. Stolen from the person at Withington, between 5 and 6 p. m,, the 25th ult.:— a gentleman's gold centre seconds stop Watch, cream coloured dial, plain cases, large Bize, maker's name and number not known. Stolen from the person on 23rd instant, at Brighton :— a silver lever hunting Watch, No. 10353, makers name ' Pegler, Southampton,' ' W. D. M.' engraved on the back, value £ 6 6s. Information to Mr. Chief Constable Terry, Brighton.— Bow- street, June 30. Stolen from the person on 24th instant, at the Agricul- tural Show, Preston Park, Brighton :— a gold hunting Watch, No. 1883, makers name ' R. A. Green, Strand, London,' and a gold curb pattern albert Chain, with gold pencil case attached. Information to Mr, Chief Constable Terry, Brighton.— Bm- stmt, Junt 30. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen by means of burglary, at the Half Moon Inn, Heathfield, Sussex, on 27th ultimo :— 2 silver Watches, one a large lever watch, jewelled in 12 holes, compensation balance, gold hour and minute hands, steel seconds hand, and gold joints to case ; the other a hunting watch, makers name and numbers not known ; 4 Threepenny Pieces ; a few Coppers ; 6 half ounces cf Tobacco, and part of a bottle of Ginger Brandy. Stolen at Kettering on 3rd instant, by means of house- breaking :— 1 round stone Brooch, mounted in silver, patent fastener. 1 gold Brooch, oval shape, a space for hair in fiont, and for photo in back. 1 gold Brooch, inlaid with hair turning grey. 1 pair of gold Earrings, with long drops. 1 pair ditto with drop in link. 1 gentlemans gold Ring, with dark stone. 1 gold Bing, with forget- me- nots inlaid. 1 gold mourning Ring, engraved inside ' Till the day dawns, and the shadows flee away.' 1 gold plated horse shoe scarf Pin, egg shaped, and star in centre. 1 gold wedding Ring, broken. Botterill, Kettering.— Bow- tt., July 7, Stolen by means of lrousbreaking'during the night of 4th instant :— an electro - plated Inkstand, chased, candlestick in centre, ink bottle on each side; an electro- plated Goblet, glass bottom ; two horn Goblets, silver mounted ; two pewter Cups; two plated Cups, engraved. Information to Mr. Supt. Tylor, Police Offije, King's Heath, Worcester.— Bow- street, July 7. During the night of the 2nd instant, an cffice at the Ciandown colliery, Midsomer Norton, was broken and entered, and stolen therein :— a valuable English, bracket, striking, eight day Clock, in Mahogany case ; maker's name ' Murray' on the face. Stolon by means of burglary at Nantwich, during the night of 29th ultimo :— 3 gold lever Watches, centre seconds, 2 heavy crystal glasses, new, and 1 plain case and glass. 3 silver ditto, gold hands, 2 heavy crystal glasses. 1 silver Geneva Hunting Watch, heavy cases, and a can- non engraved on inside of case. 1 silver Albert Guard, long links, Locket attached, ( stamped on each link.) 2 gold Guards, general pattern. Stolen by means of burglary on 27th ultimo, from the Forest Hotel, Lickey End, Bromsgrove:— a bottle of Whisky, labelled ' Cowan's Old Irish Whiskey, No. 4, Belfast'; two black oval- 3haped show Bottles, quarts, painted on one ' Whiskey', the other ' Bitters'; two very small bottles of Champaigne; a box of Cigars, trimmed with blue paper, marked ' Kenilworth Segar'; a Shilling and Sixpence in Money; a German silver Watch, single case, second hand missing, part of hour hand broken off, steel Chain attached, bar tied with string. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING Stolen from a meadow at Elstead, during the night of 3rd instant: — a roan mare Colt, 2 years o! d, long silver mane and tail, no shoes. Information to Mr. Supt. Pike, Surrey Constabulary, Farnham.— Bow- street, July 7. Wanted at Sheffield on warrant, charged with stealing a Horse from a livery stable ( recovered) GEO. MANTON, about 23 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light corn plexion and hair, small whiskers down sides o£ face, small moustache ; dressed in a dark suit, worn, black felt hat, and clogs. He is a cab- driver, and may seek employment at livery stables and Tramway Companies. Information to Mr. J. Jackson, Chief Constable, Sheilield.— Bow- st., July 5. Absconded from Portsmouth, on 28th ultimo, charged with Horse stealing : - HARRY PRITCHARD, about £ 6 years of age, 5 feet C inches high, black hair ( worn short), small dark moustache, no whiskers, dark eyes, and dark ( fresh) complexion ; dressed in black cut- away coat and vest, dark tweed trousers, fitting tightly to legs, white cotton neck wrapper, i » nd hard black felt hat. Is known as a horse coper, but is by trade a butcher. Information to be given to Chief Constable Cosser, Central Police Office, Portsmouth, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 5. Stolen from a field at Elstead, on 29th ultimo :— a dark roan coloured Mare, about 14£ hands high, hog mane, short tail, lately been clipped, has a small lump on the tip of one ear. The property of Martin Tidy, Elstead. Information to Mr. Supt., Fredk. Pike, Police Station, Farnham, Surrey. — Bow- street, July 5. The dark brown Mare stolen from a field near Alton, Hants, on 20th ultimo, and advertised in Police Gazette of 30th ultimo, has been recovered, and a man, JOHN READ, general dealer, Heather Bakes, Bedfordshire, is in custody and remanded till 8th instant, charged with stealing the same. He is 67 yeais of age, 5 feet 5J inches high, grey hair, right eye brown, left eye grey, fair complexion, right eye near- sighted, bald top of head, blue dot left ear, 3 small scars right side of neck, a vaccination mark on each arm, round shouldered, third finger right hand deformed, several scars from abscesses on right arm, small mole close to left armpit, scars both groins, 4 scars left thigh, 7 scars lower part of back, scar above right knee, slight varicose veins both legs, and when apprehended he had in his possession ( supposed stolen) a heavy spring Cart and Harness, tree of pad heavily bourd with leather and brass, with britching attached ; a Cart Bridle, * J. B.' on winkers, leather Collar with red lining, wooden ames ( iron bound), iron tug, a pair of leather Reins; three wooden Measures— one gallon, one ha- f- gallon, and one quart ; a bushel Basket, marked ' Simms'; a peck Basket, marked ' Fayence'; 4 Sacks and 4 Bags ( not marked) ; a pair of leather Gloves; a Faghook ; a Tread- iron ; an iron Chisel; 2 old Straps ; a half- pint tin Pot; a rope Rein, strap at end ; an hemp Halter ; a fibre Nose- bag ; a canvas Bag, containing a pair of shepherd's plaid Trousers, a black cloth Coat, a white Shirt, a pair of cotton Stockings, a brown astrican Cap, and a mane Comb. Paine, Hants Constabulary, Alton.— Bou- slrert, July <\ Wanted on warrant for stealing a Tony and Trap, and Harness ( recovered), on 27th ultimo :— JAMES THOMP- SON, is about 45 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair, whiskers and moustache, slightly tinged with grey, chin shaved; dressed in black ribbed frock coat, dark trousers and vest, and high silk hat, is of respectable appearance. States he was a traveller in the spirit trade, may be found at some hotel, and is likely to commit other offences. Information to Chief Constable, Wolverampton.— Bow- street, July 5. Supposed stolen from a meadow at Hothfield, between 9p. m. 27th, and 7.30 a. m. 28th ultimo: — a chesnut mare Pony, about 14 hands high, white star in forehead, and a white spot or two on off side, about 9 years old, in good con- dition. Information to the Superintendent, Police Station, Ashford,— Boui- street, July 3. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT 1 Absconderl from Burslem on 7th ultimo, charged with stealing 27s. 6d.:— WM. TURNER, cab- driver, 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light complexion, light brown hair, slight light moustache, brown eyes, medium build ; dressed in black hard felt hat, and a black suit. Supposed to be employed in stables in Manchester or Stafford. Informa- tion to Mr. Chief Supt. Hill, Burslem, who holds a warrant for his apprehension,— Bow- street, July 7. Stolen at Mickleby, near Whitby, between 5 p. m. on 3rd and 0 p. m. on 4th instant :— a white fustian double- breasted Jacket, nearly new, has three small white bone buttons down each side, lined with very dark grey woollen lining, two pockets outside, man's size. By two men :— one is from 40 to 50 years of age, rather tall, dark hair turning grey, and dark whiskers all round face ; dressed in dark pilot jacket, light coloured trousers and vest, and dark round hat ; the other is about 30 years of age, rather tall, light hair, light ginger tuft on chin end ; dressed in a blue guernsey, mole- skin trouser", and dark cap ; they are tramps. Absconded from Rode Heath, Cheshire, on 3rd instant, charged with stealing £ 2 12s. from the cabin of a boat lying in the Trent and Mersey canal :-- a boatman,' who goes by the name of HARRY, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion and light hair ; dressed in a moleskin jacket a piece burned out of one sleeve, blue cloth double- breasted vest, brown cord trousers, black cloth cap, blue ribbed stock- ings, and strong water- tight heavily nailed boots. HENRY DODGE, a labourer or assistant miller, charged with embezzlement, 5 feat high, light complexion, full round face, light hair, very light whiskers, stout build ; dressed in a black coat and vest, cord breeches, leather leggings, round hard hat, heavy lace- up boots ; was carrying a pair of elastic- side boots when last seen at Lawhitton. Stolen at Winton, between 11 p. m. 25tb and 7 a. m. 26th ultimo :—£ o in Money, consisting of Sovereigns and Half- Sovereigns, Half- Crownn, and Florins; a briar- root Pipe with amber mouthpiece, has a small crack in the head ; a black briar Pipe with bent stem, white bone mouthpiece. Suspicion attached to a man, about 35 years of age, 5 ft. 10 inches high, dark hair cut abort, whiskers and moustache; dressed in d u k pepper- and- salt mixture cloth, red and white muffler, black billycock hat, low shoes, one of them cracked at the side. Stolen at Old Trafford, about 7 a m. 27th ultimo a Wheelbarrow '• with initials ' KB;' burnt in outside of each shaft-, part worn. By a man about 30 years of age, 0 feet 4 inch's high, fresh complexion, dirk whiskers on side of face, dark clothe?, black billycock liat, had the appearance of a jobbing gardener. Stolen ix Bacup about noon on 29th ultimo:— about 5 yards of double twilled Calico ( trousers lining), aud a quan- tity of black Braid, by a tramp tailor, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 0 inches high, very dark complexion, dark hair, and very dark moustache, and about a fortnight's growth of btard, slender build, is a good coat maker ; dressed ia black frock coat, without vest, dark tweed trousers, old elastic side boots and black billycock hat, tf shabby appearance, native of Manchester. Information to County Police Office, Bacup. — Bystreet, July 3, Charged on a wan- ant with embezzlementGIDEON STQCKWIN, a traveller for Tennant and Jesper, coal mer chants, York, 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, freih complexion, p- eportioi ate build, light brown hair, and smart appearance ; dressed in drab suit and overcoat, and black billycock hat. May be found in the company of flash girls ; was last seen in Ripon Railway Station on 26th ultimo, at 2 p. m. This man when in trouble in 1880, went to China as ship steward in the S. K. ' G'amis Castle,' and is well acquainted with Capt. Todd, of that, ship ; he has also sailed Hn the S. S.' Castalea,' and may seek similar employ- ment. Information to 8. Haley, Chief Constable, York.— — Boirs'reot, July 3. IMPORTANT.— Abssol^ ed from the Mersey Salt and Brine Works, Runcorn, on 26th June, charged with stealing 10 lb. of Nitro- Glycerine, 5 lb. of Powder, 5 rings of Fuze, and some Percussion Caps :— a navvy, about 50 years of age, light brown hair, thin features, spare build, hook nose, and large burn mark down left side of face; dressed in a blue pilot Dionkej jacket, moleskin trousers, brown cloth cap, and nawy boots. Has worked on railways, water and other public works, and is engaged in tunnelling. Information to Mr. Supt. Williamson, Town Hall, Runcorn.— Bow- street, June 30. Stolen from the encampment of the 3rd Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment of Militia, at Beverley, ou 22nd instant, about £ 10 in Silver and Bronze Monies, which was contained in three canvas bank bags, one marked East Riding Bauk, and one Malton Bank, the other unmarked. Tbe undermentioned man joined the regiment on 16th instent and deserted on 22nd instant, and is suspected :- JOHN WILLIAM MIDDLE- TON, 21J years of age, 5 feet 6t inches, high, rather stout build, fair complexion, full face, blue eyes, light brown hair, very slight light moustache, no whiskers, bad teeth, tattooed, race horse and jockey right forearm ' J ' aud other indis- tinct marks on right arm; dressed in new suit of light drab diagonal striped tweed the trousers rather long in the leg, the jacket has two pockets on hip, and ticket pocket with laps or tabs, and breast pocket without, black felt hat, and blue, green, yellow, & c. tartan striped scarf. When last seen at Paragon Railway Station, Hull, was wearing an eyeglass, and watch guard, with medal or Maltese cross attached. He stated he was a native of Leeds, a groom by occupation, and that he had been employed in the racing stables at New market. Information to Mr. Supt. Knight, Guildhall, Beverley, Yorks.— Bow- street, June 30. Stolen at Porthill Park, Wolstanton, between 11 p. m. 25th, aud 10 a. m 26ih instant:— a can/ as Tent, top bound with red braid, much worn. Information to Mr. Chief Supt. Hill, Burslem, or Seigeant Hughes, Police Station, Wolstanton, Staffordshire.— Bovi- street, June 30. Stolen from a dwelling house at Keighley, about Sam. the 27th instant:— a Canadian gold Watch, white face, and second hands, 4 file marks inside inner case, the name ' Pridden,' written on a piece of paper inside of case ; a snake pattern Canadian gold Albert Guard, with bar resembling a revolver, and ' L. 1).' stamped thereon : a Brooch ( with pin attached), made from a crown p; ece, date 1821 ; a new blue and white striped cotton Shirt; a yellow painted walking Stick ; Fourpence in Copper; a threepenny Piece : and a Sixpence. By a man 25 or 26 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high; dressed in a black or dark blue cloth coat and ve3t, dark mixture trousers, and _ dark cloth cap, fastened to peak by a hook. Information to the Superintendent, Keighley.— Bow- street, June 30. FRAUDS AID AGGRAVATED MISBEMSANOXJES. Wanted on a warrant, charged with obtaining food and lodging by means of false pretences :— THf BZA COOTE3, about 50 years of age, 5 feet high, stout, brown hair ; dressed in black, black bonnet with veil, carried a small black bag. Stated she came from Glasgow, speaks with aa Irish accent, very talkative, well educated, likely to call on catholic priests, represents she has a son a priest in India. Information to Mr. Supt. O. Robotham, Abingdon, Berks.— Bow- st., July 3. Cherged with having, on 20th ultimo, at Hibaldatow, obtained ( by false ptetences) a pair of yellow woollen cold Trousers, white metal buttons ; and a Jacket, may have a velvet collar and grey buttons : — HENRY JOHNSON ( answers description of CHARLES ROGERS,' alias RICH. v¥ RENCH, and who is w « uted at Lincoln, Kesteven Station, ste Police Gazette, 30tb ultimo); dressed in dark suit, hard felt hat, and* laoe boots, had the appearance of a groom. In- formation to Mr, Supt. Thos. Dauby, Brigg,— Bow- itreet, July 3. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATIONS. Description of EDWARD JAMES CAMFiELD, com- mitted for trial to Assizes on 10th instant, charged with nstault and inflicting bodily harm, at Burton- on- Trent, on 1st instact:— he is a tramping gipsy, 29 years of age, 5 ft. 7 inches high, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, etoutish build, has a hole in left jaw caused by a boil, native of Aylesbury, Bucks, and married ; dressed in dark cord trousers, cloth vest, soft hat. This man hawks with a van, and travels the couatry, only stopping for three or four days at a nlace. Information to James Gilbride, Superintendent, Burton- on- Trent.— Bow- r, reef, July 7. Missing since 14th ultimo, from High Street, Teddington : — WILLIAM BALCOMBE, builder and contractor, 49 yrs of ago, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, stout build, rather round shouldered, very high forehead, dark brown hair, beard, and moustache, grey eyes, has long finger nails; dressed in dark brown mixture suit, rather high round black felt hat. Last heard of at Chislehurst, Kent! It is feared some harm may have befallen him. Information to the Director of Criminal Investigations, Great Scotland Yard, S. W. — Metropolitan Police, July 7. Committed to H. M.
