The Names and Dessriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War OStce Forms 83 and 88a, to the Editor, above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. Charged with feloniously wounding Michael Donlan, ai Grappenhal), on 25th instant:— THOMAS BRYNE, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, sandy hair, whiskers, and moustache, has a recent scar on forehead, and cheek ; dressed in corduroy jacket and trousers, billycock hat, and his a farm labourer. Williamson, Town Hall, Runcorn, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, June 30 On I8lli instant the dead . body of a newly born male Child was found floating in the Huddersfield Corporation Water Works, at Blaekmoorfoot, near Hudderefisld. The body was in a nude state, and very much decomposed, it was wrapped in an old course harden towel or oven cloth, 2 feet by 15 inches, part of an old white cotton pillow slip, and part of a childs pinafore, twill or figured cotton, with a perforated design round the edges, but nnworked, the body appeared to have been in the water two or three weeks, but there were no outward marks of violence upon it. An Icquest was held on the 20th instant, when a Verdict of Wilful Minder was returned against some person or persons unknown. Infor- mation to Mr. Supt. Charged on warrant with robbery from the person with violence at Fulford, on 19th instant: — THOMAS DOGHERTY. late of York, labourer, 21 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, light hair, grey eyes, pale complexion, slender build, carries head down, sullen looking ; dress— black cloth coat, dirty cord trousers, black felt hat, old lace boots, down at the heels. Information to Inspector John Far rah, East Yorkshire Constabulary, Eserick, York.— Bow- street, June 26 Stolen from the person at Andoversford, on lGth inst.:— a German silver Watch, a crack on dial between figures 4 and 6, and a brass curb Chain attached. By two men, one about 25 or 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fair com- plexion, light brown hair ( cut short), moustache, no whiskers; dressed in a grey or yellow cloth suit, and small brown deer- stalker hat; had the appearance of a groom or stableman. The other about 30 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11, inches high, brown hair and whiskers ( slight), dark complexion ; dressed in a dark coat, or dark sleeve cord vest, dark cord trousers, and soft billycock hat, [ of dirty appearance, a hawker or umbrella mender. May be found iu common lodging- houses, or working on some farm, hay making. They were traced to Cirencester the night of the robbery. Information to Mr, Snpt. Stolen by means of burglary at Wellington on 25th instant, a dark cloth Overcoat, found pledged for 7s. at F. Edwards, pawnbroker, Bedford, on 26th instant:— by a man, about 30 years of ago, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, small moustache, no whiskers ; dressed in dark billycock hat, dark tweed coat, dark trousers ; after pledging the coat, he went, to a barber's and had his whiskers shaved off, leaving a little hair at top of each cheek, after which he offered the duplicate of stolen coat for sale. Stolen from Sturbitch Common, Cambridge, during the night of 26th instant : - a light- coloured ohesnut Ilorse ( Russian), aged, between 13 and 11" hands high, long mane and tail, and foretop, has three saddle markf, and a " star on forehead, in very good condition, with a large body. Stolon on 6th instant from a stable at Weodhouses, near Bishop Auckland :— a bay eart Mare, in fair condition, aged, about 16 hands 2 inches high, white star on forehead, white patch on each shoulder, and on each sida of withers, side bone O/ i each fore foot, short switch tail. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT IMPORTANT.— Absconded from the Mersey Salt and Brine Works, Runcorn, ou 26th June, charged with stealing 10 lb. of Nitro- Glyeerine, 5 lb. of Powder, 5 rings of Fuze, and some Percussion Caps a navvy, about 50 years of age, light brown hair, thin features, spare build, hook nose, and large burn mark down left side of face; dressed in a blue pilot monkey jacket, moleskin trousers, brown cloth cap, and navvy boots. Has worked on railways, water and other public works, and is engaged in tunnelling. Information to Mr. Snpt. Williamson, Town Hall, Runcorn.— Bow- street, June 30. Stolen from tha encampment of the 3id Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment of Militia, at Beverley, on 22nd instant, about £ 10 in Silver and Bronze Monies, which was contained in three canvas bank bags, one marked East Riding Bank, and one Malton Bank, the other unmarked. The undermentioned man joined the regiment on 16th instant and deserted on 22nd instant, and is suspected :— JOHN WILLIAM MIDDLE- TON, 21J years of age, 5 feet 61 inches, high, rather stout build, fair complexion, full face, blue eyes, light brown hair, very slight light moustache, no whiskers, bad teeth, tattooed, race horse and jockey light forearm, ' J,' and other indis- tinct marks on light arm; dressed in new suit of light drab diagonal striped tweed, th8 trousers rather long in the leg, the jicket has two pockets on hip, and ticket pocket with laps or tabs, and breast pocket without, black felt hat, and blue, greeu, yellow, & c. tartan striped scarf. When last seen at Paragon Railway Station, Hull, was wearing an eyeglass, and watch guard, with medal or Maltese cross attached. Stolen from a dwelling house at Keighley, about 3 am. the 27th instant:— a Canadian gold Watch, white face, and second hands, 4 file m3rks inside iuner case, the nama ' Pridden,' written ou a piece of paper inside of case ; a snake pattern Canadian gold Albert Guard, with bar resembling a revolver, and ' L. D.' stamped thereon : a Brooch ( with pin attached), made from a crown piece, dat9 1821 ; a new blue aud white striped cotton Shirt ; a yellow painted walking Stick ; Fonrpence in Copper; a threepenny Piece : and a Sixpence. By a man 25 or 26 jears of age, 6 feet 3 inches high ; dressed in a black or dark blue cloth coat and vest, dark mixture trousers, aud Ldark cloth cap, fastened to peak by a hook. Absconded from Bala and Festiniog Railway, charged with Fowl- stealing ( the carcasses recovered) :— a railway labourer, about 36 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, light brown hair, fresh complexion, small light moustache, blue mark on bridge of nose, others ou his face, speaks thick, and talkative in company, and fond of drink ; has worked iu collieries in South Wales ; dressed wht u last seen in a brown coat, large pockets with flaps at side, cap with peak and tassel on top. Remanded at I. ynn, until 3rd proximo, charged with stealing a Tricycle : — SHELIAH ZIMMERMON, a native of New Jersey, America, but of germau parents, 45 years of age, 6 feet 6 iuches high, light brown hair, and moustache, thin build, scar 3 inches long and lj wide, just below left jaw, another scar down back of neck, and bullet wound near left ankle. States they were inflicted by Indians, in backwoods of America ; dressed iu grey coat and veal, brown trousers. Information to the Supt., King's Lynn.— Bow- street, June 30. Description of WALTER IIATION, alias WALTER FRF. 3LE, sentenced to 14 days h. l. on ,24th instant, for vagrancy :— he is 29 years of age, 5 feet C inches high, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, brown eyes, blind right eye, and has tattoo marks on left band, a bricklayer, a native of Hertford; was convicted at Hereford in 1880, for highway robbery with violence, and sentenced to 18 months h. l., was released from Prison on 2Btli April, 1652.
