As no charge is made for tho insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all letters addressed to the Editor miji( J) t5 prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to tho Editor, above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. Advertisements offering rewards must stats clearly:—( 1) The amount of tie reward. ( 2) The conditions on which it i3 payable. ( 3). The person by whom it will be paid. Description of JOHN FL1NN, alias EONEY FLINT, alias NOTTINGHAM BOUGH, committed to take his trial at the next Derby Assize, on a charge oc Murder :— he is 38 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, light brown hair, blue eyes, fresh complexion, very much pock- marked, he is a low horse dealer, and a noted pugilist, an 1 has been in the habit of freqtfeirting fairs all over Eugland. Charged with manslaughter, on 6th instant:— a man. 36 or 37 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark complexion, pockpitted, stoutiah build, pockpitted in face, and chubby nose, which appears to have been broken ; dressed in cord trousers, old dark coat, and supposed to be wearing a cap; he is a hawker and repairer of umbrellas, and is supposed to be a native of Sheffield ; he is accompanied by a woman, named Emma Shaw, she is about - 10 years of ngs, fresh looking pro- portionate make, and wore a black and white plaid shawl over her head. BROWN, alias BIRDCATCHER BILL, about 35 years cf age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark complexion, very dark hair, rather bald on top of head, very dark curly whiskers and moustache, medium figure ; sometimes wears a moleskin jacket, black waistcoat, and r. ord trousers, sometimes « . guernsey with red stripes ; generally makes his home in Somer's Town, works on new railroads, where he commits robberies of different kinds; well acquainted with several gangers on new lines, is a professional thief; was seen on the new line of railway at Chalk Tunnel, G idstone, Surrey, on 10th instant; also at Croydon with a man called " Gloucester Bill, advertised in Police Gazette of Dec. 30th, 1831. also on Oth instant. Supposed by a man about 18 years of age, shout 5 feet 2 inches high, slender build, broad face, light complexion, light brown hair, no whiskers or moustache ; dressed in black cap. with peak, short dark mixture jacket, light cord or moleskin trousers, and clogs. Four. d in possession of THOMAS WILSON, alias RODGERS, who is in custody, eh. rged with stealing the same :— 2 dark red Bullocks— one 2 year? old, and one 4 yrs. with white maik on forehead, not!; " in rather poor condition! This man has been three times previously convicted of cittle stealing; the last time was at Liverpool in October, 1879, whsn he was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment ana 7 years police supervision for stealing cattle at Leigh, in Lancashire. Cant, and set of Harness ( recovered):- JOHN BOM WOOD, a f amor's son, of imperfect education, 28 years of ago, 5 feet 11 inches high, fresh complexiou, hazei eyes, light brown hair and whiskers inclined to be sandy ; supposed dresred in grey tweed coat and vest, dark cord trousers, and hard felt hat. By a man, 35 yea; s cf age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, sallow Complexion, siiin built, dark brown hair and mous'ache, shived clean down sides of face ; dre\ sed iu a grey tweed monkey jacket, with narrow stripe, black cloth trousers, strong lace- up boots. Wanted on a warrant charged with stealing about 20th ultimo, a Bill cf Exchange for .£ 420:— PETER EMIL WEEKS, about 45 years of aje, but looks older, about 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, he stoops and is rather bow legged, ; . inted features, ver^ near and yeak sighted, has generally worn spectacles, hsir very thin, whiskers beard and mottsta'- he, all turning greyyhas a wen on tha corner of one eye, thought to be the light one, also scars behind the ears and whiskers, owing to recent application of blisters. He left Liverpool on 4ih instant, iu the company of his wife, w' o is about 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, 25 years of age, dark completion end hair, and rather slender build ; dres? ed in a black or blue dress, black jacket, and black or bio vn beaver hat- turned up at one side. Yorks, wanted under warrant for embezzling £ 120 and upwards :— he is 22 years of age, but looks older, 5 feet 9 inches high, stout build, pale complexion, grey eyes, light brown hair, a clerk, auctioneer or valuer, heavily pockpitted, mole bottom of right cheek and slight moustache ; dressed in light co'oured single- breasted cloth overcoat, narrow striped black and white cloth trousers, black worsted cloth shotting jacket, vest of same material, and lace up boots. Description cf ELIZA STANTON, charged on warrant • with stealing 3s. 6d., the property of the guardians of the Bourne Union :— about 30 years of age, medium height, pale thin face, rather sore eyes ; dressed in round black straw bat with lightish coloured flowers in front, black cloth jacket, rather short, fitting tight iu back, aod brown stuff dress. She is a native of Market Deeping, her parents are dead, was some years on the town at Stamford, and has worked in the factories at Bradford aud Leeds. ILformation to Mr. Supt. Charged with stealing a Jacket ( recovered), at Great Fentonoa 7tli instant:— ENOCH MY ATT, alias LITTLE JOE JAMES, a collier, 28 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark complexion, dark brown hair and moustache, grey eyes, proportionate build ; dressed in grey trousers and vest, blue overcoat, with velvet collar, hard hat, at, d elastic side boots. He is supposed to have gone to Preaton, Ratcliffe, or Whiston, Lancashire. Information to Mr. Supt. Barrack?, Devize3, during the night of 9th instant :— A pair of elastic side Boots ; a pair of tweed Trousers, ' No. B- 2651,' dated June, 1881 ( regimental); a silver Watch, half hunter, a piece of round glass in centre and blue figures, a small licked chain and two coins attached, one a quarter rupee ( Indian), the other not known. By No. 2614 Private WILLIAM SMITH, who broke out of the Barracks during the nigbt. He is 21 years of age, 5 feet 61 inches high, complexion fresh, hair dark brown, line or scar on left side of upper lip ; by trade a fireman ; anative of St. George's, Bristol, Gloucester; litre. Information to Mr. Supt. Baldwin, Devizes, Wilts.— Bow- street, March 13. Description of ALFRED NORTON LOCKING, a shoe- maker, and a native of Marehcbapel, charged on warrant with having stolen five Ducks ( recovered), at Marshchapel, OD 7th instant:— he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light brown hair, few ginger whiskers down each side of f tee, small moustache, shaves under chin, supposed grey eyes, fresh complexion, medium build, rather round shouldered, aid rolls a little when walking, tattooed on one orioth arms, aid has been a soldier; dressed in a grey plaid cloth suit, and o'd long brown top coat, hard black felt hat, woollen shirt, and elastic- side boots. Information to Mr. Supt. Jarvis, C- iiiify Police Station, Great Grimsby, Lincolnshire.— Bow- t'riet, Ma- ch 13. Wanted, on a warrant, charged with stealing a silver Snuff- box ( recovered), on 5th October, 1881: — J ARE D NIXON, 29 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, black hair, little or no whiskers, (" ark moustache, dark complexion, proportionate make, short sighted, generally wears spectacles, very hard of hearing, stammers wh: n talking, a\ d is of respectable appearance. Is a son of . Tared Nixon, in. n manu- facturer, Winhton, Durham. Absconded from Winlaton on 6th October, 1881. May now be found with his uncle John Nixon, late of the ' Shipwright's Arms,' E nmett- street, Poplar, London, now retired, or with Mrs. Isaac Nix n and Son, at present carrying on some ironworks at Comhill, South- wick, Sunderland. Information to Mr. Supt. Young, Morpeth, Northumberland, v. ho holds a warrant for his ariest.— Bow- stnet, Mi r. h 13, ' Description of JAMES FLANAGHAN, late of Mac- clesfield, a licensed cloth hawker, charged on a warrant with stealing a quantity of Cloth at Uctoxeter, on 8th instant:— 40 years or age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion and hair, light tuft of hair on chiu, no whiskers or moustache, grey eyes ( right one defective) ; dressed in a daik ribbed • worsted letf. r coat ( oockets on hips) and vest, dark cloth trousers with fly fronts, dark soft high billycock hat, and leather lace- up boots. He is said to be well- known in Macclesfield, and is supposed to be wanted there for assault on the police, or for aiding the rescue of a prisoner from the police there a short time ago. Description of the Cloth : — 2 pieces of Tweed, one dark grey, the other brown ; 1 piece ( f black worsted Coating, and 1 piece cf dark grey mixture, all 3 yards by yard wide; also a Shaw), fall size, with black ; border. Information to Mr. Supt. William*, Leek, or to Sergeant White, littoxeler, who holds the warrant.— Llow- street, Ma- ch 13. Stolen on 8th instant, from a dwelling- house at Mor- peth :— a small silver lever Watcb, No. 67057, sunk seconds, had a black beaded Guard attached; a heavy gr<) d Albert, fancy pattern, holes through links and flowers on, had a Locket, blue and white on one aids and plain on the other, with lady's photo inside, attached ; a lady's gold r. eck Chain, small links, has attached a large gold plated Locket, oblong shape, with photo of a lady and gentleman inside ; 2 ladies' gold drees Ri^ ga, one with five glass stones, the other three glass stones and five common rubies; and 2 gold- plated Brooches, one large size with glass out, the other belt shape, both want pins. Supposed by a tramp, about 55 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, proportionate make, florid com- plexion, and brown whiskers, mixed with grey ; dressed in dark frock coat with large skirts, dark trousers, and bard round felt hat. Information to Mr. Supt. Young, Morpeth, Northumberland.— Bo - c- street, A arch 13. FELONIES. ( iVot otherwise described.) Between 9 pm. on 3rd irista* t, and the morning of 4th instant, the Parish Church at West Worlington, Devon, was forcibly entered, aud there was stolen therefrom a brass Cross, 2 feet high ; 2 do. Candlesticks; 2 do. Vases ; a Sur- plice ; the Clappers of three of the bells, and the Screw Nuts of another; also the Harmonium Destroyed. Information to Mr. Supt.- Wood, B Division, Devon Constabulary, South Molton.— Bow- street, March 17. FRAUDS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. Wanted on a Sheriff's warrant, on several charges of Fraud ( Long Firm Frauds), committed during January last, with one WM. HAYWOOD THOMAS, now in custody :— JOHN JOHNSTON, alias HARRY JOHNSTON, alias JOHN HENRY JOHNSTON, a native of Derby, where his father is a coal merchant and Town Councillor, 29 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, brown hair aud eyes, dark complexion, stout make, thick neck aud broad shoulders, one leg a little bandy, having been broken, and generally uses a walking stick. His wife is also a Derby woman, and was with him at Manchester when last heard of 5 oi_ 6 weeks ago, and he has an uncle ( supposed a confectioner) in Barrow- in- Furness. Description of JAMES BURNS, who is under police supervision, end who left Bristol on 25th ultimo, stating that he was going to Liverpool, to which place he has failed to report himself, 33 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, blue eyes, scar on right and left buttock, one on left cheek, three vaccination marks on left arm, two scars right side of forehead, one scar left eye- brow, one back of neck, one back of left thumb, one back o' right arm, one left shin, and one left knee. Was convicted at Swansea 26th June, 1876, for larceny, and sentenced to 7 yrs. p. s. and 3 years police supervision. The above- named has been confined in the Bainhill County Asyl am since 22nd December last up to yesterday, when he made his escape. At the time of his escape he was wearing the Asylum uniform, which consisted of a blue cloth jacket and vest, light trousers, and boots. MARY ANN GIBBONS, 36 years of age, 5 feet 1 irch high, fresh, complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, blue cut corner of right eye, blue mark inside left ear, end of third finger left hand crooked, cut over right eye, native of Hull; convicted of larceny from the person at Salford Hundred Sessions, 22nd February, 1875, sentenced to 7 years penal servitude and 7 years police supervision, discharged from Millbank on 11th February, 1882, to Manchester.
