KoMce.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolon property, may !> par tlae Slgssatnre of the person requiring or tending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, ii- is indispensably necessary tkat an information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, aS. 3 betters addressed to the Editor must foe prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, above, for " insertion in the POLICE G AZETTE. Advertisements offering rewards must state clearly:—( 1) The amount of the reward. ( 2) The conditions on which it is payable. ( 3). The person by whom it will be paid. They should be signed or accompanied by a letter, signed by t'ae - persons forwarding them. They should contain no expressions holding out any expectation of reward for the return of the property, without ihe apprehension of the offender. It is particularly requested that when, owing either to insufficiency or incorrectness of the address or other- wise, Copies of this Gazette are delivered to persons, to whom they are not addressed, or who are not now entitled to receive them, such Copies raay be at once returned through tha Post to " The Editor, Eow Street, London." PEISON and POLICE AUTHORITIES are requested to bo good enough to inform the Editor of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, See., and cf any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Police Gazette" no longer necessary. INFORMATIONS. MURBES AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. On tho morning of 30th January, 1882, the body of FRANCIS CARTER was found in a brickfield adjoining the Stoke- road, Stoke Poges, Bucks, and a verdict of wilful murder lias been returned by tho coroners jury against some persons unknown. A reward of £ 100 will be p;> id by Her Majesty's Government to any person ( other than a person belonging to a police force in the United Kingdom) who shall give such information and evidence as shall lead to the dis- covery and conviction of the mnrderer or murderers ; and the Secretary of State will advise the grant ef Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who Bhall give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. Information to Captain Tyrwhitt Drake, Chief Constable, Aylesbury, or to Mr. Bupt. Dunham, Police StatioD, Slough, Bucks. — Bow- street, March 6. FORGERY. Wanled on a charge of theft, forgery, and uttering :— DAYID BLACKLEY, a native of Stranraer, Scotland, from • 26 to 27 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, slender make, smart appearance, thin red face, black hair, small black whiskers high np checks only, black moustache, dark eyes, thin aquiline nose, wants two front teeth in upper jaw, old scars or marks on nose and right cheek bone ; dressed when he left Dumfries in September last in brown coat, dark grey tweed trousers and vest, cap, and carried a dark grey tweed overcoat with him. Blaakley has travelled the country with a man named Morgan, a mesmerist, during tho winter season for a number of years, but is said to have been dismissed by Morgan about the end of November last. He has also been employed, above ground, at some of the coal pits in the neigh- bourhood of Newcastle, in the county of Durham, and was last heard of in that locality. Committed for trial at the next Assizes at Lewes, charged with setting Fire to a Wheat Stack, at Amberlev, at 7 p. m., on 24th ultimo :— JOHN HAMMOND, a tramp, no home, 27 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, little whiskers and moustache ; dressed in a • dark coat and vest, dark tweed trousers, red and white striped cotton shirt, hard round black felt hat, and oM lace- up boots ; states he was discharged from the 5th Brigade Roy. Artilley, on 24th November last, after 10 years' service; born in Liverpool; he is very thin, and has a dare- worn and down- ed appearance. information to Mr. Supt. Description of a man who stole about £ 15 in Gold and Silver from the bar parlour of the Bell Hotel, Chelmsford, on 5th instaut, about 4 p. m., and violently assaulting the land- lady, Mrs. ti. Boawell, about 32 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, sallow complexion, very thin and haggard appearance, no whiskers ; dressed in tight cord trousers, light brown dust coat, low brown felt hat, and white neck scarf. Information to Mr. Supt. Lennon, Constabulary Office, Chelmsford, Essex.— Bow- stree', March 8. Stolen from the person on 13th ultimo:— a gold lover hunting Watch, maker ' R. Hess, Liverpool, No. 6319- i,' had attached a curb gold Albert Guard, with oval Seal ( cornelian stone one side, liloonstone the other). Information to the Dctective Office, Town Ilall, M anchester.— Bow- si., March 3. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Wanted on a charge of burglary, at, Tunstall, Stoke- upon- Trent, on 5th instant — WM. DENNIS, about 30 yrs. of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, light complexion, light hair, nearly bald, light blue iyes, slender build, bayonet cut mark on right side ; dressed iu black jacket, trousers and vest, lace- up boots, puce and black knitted muffler, and black lo w hard hat, a puddler, and has worked at Tipton, Staffordshire, Warrington, and IT u, tor, near Liverpool, and has been several years in the Army, and may be found ringing to music in public ov beei houses. He broke out of hia lodgings and stole a silver Geneva, Watch with long silver Guard attached ; n, silver Geneva Watch, blauk ribbon Guard, with Key and small foreign Coin attached ; a gold wedding Ring; a pair of gold Ear- rings ; and £ 1 10s. in Gold. Hall, Police Office, Tunstall, Stoke- upon- Trent - Bow- street, March 10. - Two men are wanted at York, for breaking and euferiog two offices, a lcck- up slop, and a church, between 27th ultimo and the night of 4th instant; they entira'd an office about 10 p. m. oil 4th instant, stealing upwards of £ 13 in Money, and twelve to fifteen shilling in penny and half- penny Stamps ; they lodged at a common lodgitg house at York, from 27th ultimo, stated they had come from Hull, are said to have committed offences at Halifax, Leeds, and Hull :— one about 32 years of age, tall and stout, light brown hair, full face, no whiskers or moustache ; dressed in dark topcoat, moleskin trousers, light muffler, black billy hat, may have a dark blue cloth cap, with tassel in front with him; the other about 28 or 30 years of age, ginger or rod hair, short stature, dark giDger moustache, no whiskers; dressed iu dark mixture coat, blue guernsey underneath, dark trousers, dark blue cap, with tassel in front; a third man haa been seen in their company, but did not lodge with them, he wore a Yankee hat, atd had the appeararce of a cloth hawker, about 35 years of age. Stolen between 10 p. m. 1st, and G a. m, 2ud instant, from Stramshall Vicarage :— two pairs of old India- rubber fishing Boots, ono are high and the other short tops, the litter mended on the soles; a leg of Mutton, 10 lb., uncooked ; about 5 lb. of Pork, uncooked; and 1 h lb. of Butter. The attention of all Pulice is called to the existing preva- lence of housebreaking, by means of a ladder, between 8 and 11 p. m. In two or three cases the thieves are supposed to have used a high dog cart, drawn by a fast trotting bay cob, and there is every reason to suppose tV. st their principal is:— a Kan. 33 years of age, 5 feet ti inches high, fresh complexion dark brown hair, fair moustache, liazsl eyes, marks on right arm, and shot marks in neck ; generally showily dressed, ( f; en wears thick patent leather bools ; who haa been frequently convicted of such offences. Persons should be cautioned as far as possible, against leaving ladders about after dusk near their dwelling houses. Information to the Director C. I. Midland train 9th instaLt for Birmingham, in came of G. D. Pojiple- welL Two men and one woman in whose possession themare had been seen, are supposed to have gone by the same train. Both of the men are between 30 and_ 40 years of age, of horsey appearance, moustaches, otherwise clean shaved, one of dark,' and the other of fair complexion. Stolen during the night of Cih instant from Burbam, Kenta cferk iron grey cirt Mare about 15 hands high, iu good condition ; a eat of plain heavy Harness, with a new bit; a farmers small Wagoq, painted blue, with name at side, ' C. Brown, Burham'; 4 sacks of Oits ; 4 trusses of Hay and a Pitchfork. Supposed taken away ia the wagon and traced towards Loudon. Information to Mr. Supt. Hulse, Kent County Constabulary, West Mailing.— Bow- street, March 8. Stolen from a field at Wortley, between 4 30 p m. 8th and 8- 30 a. m. 9ih ultimo :— 17 hog Sheep, ( recovered.) Bv HERBERT UDDALL, a butcher or labourer, who sold the tlieep at Peuistone Market, on Etli ultimo, about 50 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, florid complexion, and ha3 the appearance of a man who drinks heavily, dark brown hair, whiskers shaved off, he is of muscular appearance, and has a peculiarity in one eye ; when la3t seen he was dressed in a new suit of black cloth, a long brown cloth overcoat, quite new, white scarf, soft black billycock hat, and a new pair of shooting boots, with bias3eyek- t holes, he had with him a large black travelling bag, with a yellow stripe or stripes round it. Liddall is a native of IKndly, near Chesterfield, and was coiivicted at Derby Assizes, on the 28th July. 1880, and sentenced to 18 months hard labour, for stealiDg 47 sheep at Eckmgton. GEORGE EL ANTON", Reg, No. £ 671, charged with stealing a Gun at Kicgswiuford about 25th ultimo, advertised in Police Gazette of 8th instant, has been arrested.— Bow- street, March 10. March 10 Absconded from Eastbourne, Sussex, on 23rd ultimo, charged with stealing 6 Fowls, 5 recovered :— WALTER STANDING, better known by the nickname of ' SPIDER,' about 23 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, dark com- plexion and eyes, dark brown hair, rather slight figure, and rather bow- legged; dressed in black hard felt hat, dark jacket and vest, dark cloth trousers, and lightish made boots; carried vith him a blue serge jacket; he is a labourer, and has worked at a mineral water manufactory ; has been a short time in H. M. S., ' Duke of Wellington,' at Portsmouth; is fond of being in company of sailors and soldiers, aud Las lately been engaged in assisting a travelling theatrical party, styled the ' Cigarette Company.' Description of JOHN ROBINSON, a tramping shoe- maker, wanted on warrant, charged with stealing a piece of Leather ( recovered), and a Fettering Iron with wheel in centre, at Ferrybridge on 2ud instant :— about 32 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, blue eyes, brown hair, light moustache, slender build ; dressed in dark cloth suit, hard billycock hat, and supposed military shoes, has been a soldier 9 years and was invalided, he spoke of going to try and obtain employment at barracks by repairing soldiers boots. Supposed by a man, from 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 9 to 11 inches high, stout build, brown whiskers down sides of face, beard on chin, and mou3tache, a month or 5 weeks growth ; dressed in a brown jean jacket, dark vest, cotton cord trousers, tied with strings under the knees, strong pair of almost new navvy boots, and jirn ciow hat. Wanted on warrant, charged with ravishing a girl, 7 yrs of age, at Trevor, near Llangollen, on 5th inst.:— WILLIAM EVANS, alias CLOGSON, about 20 years of age. 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, light brown hair, blue eyes, round features, and stout built; dressed in an old pair of corduroy trousers, dark cloth jacket, soft hat, and strong lace- up shoes; is well known on the Shropshire Union Canal between Calvi r'ey, Cheshire, and Llangollen, and was seen on the 7th instaut, making for Calverley, in company with one Edward Griffiths, with the boat'Lfdia' loaded with timber. Remanded until 13th instant, charged with burglary and house- breaking : — JOHN HEAD, a labourer, of White chapel, London, 2'. years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, light- brown hair, cut very short, no beard or whiskers, grey eyes, fair complexion, tattooed with crown, head, and anchor on the right arm, near wrist; dressed in old brown tweed jacket and a black jacket undcreeath, old brown vest, mole- skin tiousers, strong lace- up boots, toe- capped, a brown cap with peak, and an old grey woollen scarf. JACKSON, of Manchester, painter, committed to Carnarvon Prison for 14 days :— he says he is 32 years of age, looks older, 5 feet 7f inches high, sallow complexion, rather pale, dark brown hair cut short, brown whiskers and moustache, long hair on chin, brown eyes, and several teeth in upper jaw missing ; dressed in grey coat, vest, and old blue cloth trou- sers, cap, and heavy nailed watertight boots, nearly new. Supposed to have come from North Wales, and to be a returned convict. Information to the Governor of H. M. Prison, Carnarvon, or to Sergeant Roberts, Towyn, Merioneth- shire.— Bow- strert, March 10. Remanded till 10th instant, at Stoke- on- Trent, charged with fowl stealing :— GEORGE KE Y, native of Newcastle- under- Lyme, labourer, 55 years of age, 5 feet 3| inches high, fresh complexion, dark hair, brown eyes, slender build, cut on bridge of nose, small flesh mole tight side of neck near the shoulder, small fleshy substance between the shoulders, bald top of head. JOSEPH BRERETON, native of Wiiuehill, Staffordshire, 45 years of age, 5 feet 7| inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, proportionate build, blue scar below left temple, abscess mark on left cheek, and on each side of neck, 3rd finger left hand crooked. FRANCIS ALDEKSED, native of Wrinehill, labourer, 38 years of age, 5 feet 5^ inches high, fresh complexion, dark hair, brown eyes, stout build, small mole near left corner of left eye, cut near end of left thumb.
