CONTAINING ' Tlit Instance of all Informations received in cases of Felony and of Misdemeanors of an aggravated nature, and against Receivers of Stolen Goods, reputed , Thieves, and Offenders escaped from Custody, with the time, the place, and the circumstance of the Offence. The Names of Persons charged with Offences who are known but not in custody, and a Description of those who are not known, their Appearance, Dress, and other marks of Identity. The - Names of Accomplices and Accessories, with every particular which may lead to their Apprehension. A Description, as accurate as possible, of Property that has been stolen, and a minute Description of Stolen Horses for the purpose of tracing and recovering them. No. 6726 FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 1882. Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolon property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or tending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an information should he made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, tsgether with the advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no oharge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor mast be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. Advertisements offering rewards must state clearly:—( 1) The amount of the reward. ( 2) The conditions on which it is payable. ( 3). The person by whom it will be paid. They should be signed or accompanied by a letter, signed by tiie persons forwarding them. They should contain no expressions holding out any expectation of reward for the return of the property, without khe apprehension of the offender. It iB particularly requested that when, owing either to insufficiency or incorrectness of the address or other- wise, Copies of this Gazette are delivered to persons, to whom they are not addressed, or who are not now entitled to receive them, such Copies may be at once returned through the Post to " The Editor, Bow Street, London." PRISON and POLICE AUTHORITIES are requested to be good enough tc inform the Editor of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, & c., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Police Gazette" no longer necessary. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Absconded from Haynes, near Bedford, on 28th ultimo, charged on warrants with wounding Police Constable George Wm. Hoar, at Haynes, on 28th ultimo : — FREDERICK XUFFNELL, 23 years of age, blacksmith, 5 feet 11 inches high, f. tir complexion, no whiskers or mous- tache, light hair, cut short, blue eyes ; generally dresses in high felt hat, dark coat, fustian trousers, and lace- up boots ; walks erect, and has a respectable appearance. ELI BRUNT, 26 yeais of age, labourer, 5 feet 8 inches high, rather thie, dark complexion, round lace, and small features, dark hair, small daik moustache, little or no whisker?, and daik eyes; dressed in dark coat and vest, and brown corded trousers ; he belongs to the Army Reserve, but has the appearance of a gentleman's servant. Tuffnell is a good thoingsmith, his a sister living at Liverpool, and another living at St. Albans, and will probably visit them. Brunt has a sister living at New Whittington, near Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Information to Mr. Supt. James, Ampthill, Beds.— Bow- street, February 6. FOEGERY. Stolen from the person on 4th instant:— a gold lever Watch, engraved flowered back, medium size, gold dial and hands, maker's name ' Whitmcre and Son, Northampton,' No. 6860, been in - wear about 20 years, had attached a gold albert Chain, obloDg links, about the size of a pea, and diamond cut, stamped on each link, and a Seal on swivel, red stone on oce side, and green stone on the other. Stolen by means of housebreaking, at Sandyfields, Sedgley, between 3.30 p. m. 7th and II am. 8th ins., during absence of the occupier: — 2 Half- Sovereigns. about £ 2 in Silver and Copper Coins, one Shilling with head on each side, and an Indian Rupee. Also stolen from the Moor Farm, Upper Penn, between 4th and 7th instant:— a pair of old Steelyards to weigh 60 lb., makers A. Gilby and Son, and a copper Skewer, about 18 inches long. Charged with having, during the night of 29th ultimo, stolen from the Flint Hall Farm, Wvcombe, a Pony and Cart ( recovered): — CHARLES SEXTON, alias TODDLER, a native of Thame, Oxon, about 35 or 36 years of age, looks much older, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, very daik complexion, dark hair, whiskersjand moustache, very thin visage, holds his h'ad down when walking ; dressed in black pilot coat, cord trousers, black soft billy hat, heavy hob nailed boots, and of very shabby appearance. MERRITT, fireman on board ship, dis- charged on 11th December, 1881, 34 years of age, 5 ft. 10 ins high in boots, brown hair, slightly turning grey, light mous- tache, thin face, middle build, haeeleyes, and fair complexion, has a long scar on neck under left ear, and wart ( birth matk) en eheek near left, ear ; dressed in long black heavy coat, blk. waistcoat, blue trousers, and cap with peak tod brass buttons on each side. GEO. DAVIS, 30 years of age, 6 ft.' 81 ins. high, dark hair, small dark moustache, and dark complexion,— has lo3t left arm at shoulder, tattooed across breast with necklace, on wrist with bracelets, on fore right arm with sailor holding Union Jack, near shoulder with ship iu full sail, and on third middle fingers with rings ; has a scar on left cheek and on right eyebrow; states that he was an able seaman, and wss discharged from Plymouth Hospital on 4th July, 18/ 3, with Is. a day pension, and haa a wife and 3 children, at Tewkes- bury, and is known at Birmingham, where he hawked green- grocery ; dressed iu hard hat, dark coat and waistcoa, t, and brown trousers.
