INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. The body of a newly born female child was found in Farnworth,, on the morning of 10th instant. It is full grown and decomposed, having apparently been dead several days. It had on a white cotton night jacket and a white twilled cotton napkin, and was placed in an ordinary hempen bass or market bag. An inquest was held on 12th, when a verdict of wilful murder against some person or persons, was returned. Information to Mr. Supt. Holland, Bolton— Bow- st., Nov. 14. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Wanted at Evesham, charged with violent assault, and stealing from the person £ 1 10s. in Gold, 2 Stamps, 2 Photo- graphs, and a red leather Purse, on the highway at Evesham, about 1 p. m. on 12th iustant:— two tramps, one is about 40 years of age, 6 feet high, dark complexion and hair, long • whiskers and moustache; dressed in long brown overcoat and soft billycock hat; the other is from 55 to 60 years of age, short in stature, grey hair, and slight grey whiskers ; dressed in old brown jacket, dirty straw hat, and without shoes; both are of shabby appearance. S.' engraved ; also a plain gold watch Key attached ; a gold Pencil- case, with amethyst stone, banner shaped, with ' R. S.' engraved ; 7 gold filigree Buttons, with Isle of Wight diamonds set in centre ; a small Vinegaretts, turned top and ribbed edge,' P. S.' engraved on top; all the Brooches have patent fastenings ; a plain gold Brooch, hair ( grey) in centre; two hair Brooches, hair set in gold frame ; a gold keeper Ring, engraved with name and date inside ' Priscilla Manser, Oct. 18, 1871'. The gold opal brooch was marked ' ww/-/-' scratched inside. £ 50 reward will be paid by A. Manser, Esq., on conviction of the thieves, and recovery of the property, or in proportion. Stolen by means of burglary, during the night of 8th instakt, at Longfield, Kent :— two Overcoats, one brown, nearly new, the other thick pilot cloth, very old ; a thick pilot Jacket, grey ; two Albums, full of photo's, one black morocco, silver mounted, the other red velvet, gilt mounted ; au ivory Card Box, 4 iu. by 6 ; a lady's carved ivory Card Case and ivory Card Tablets; a pair of shooting Boots; a round Clock, winds up at back ; 2s. in Silver; and a quantity of Provisions. Supposed by three men : — one about 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high ; dressed in old brown suit, and side- spring boots ; second about 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high ; dressed in old black cloth coat and trousers, and hard felt hat; third about 5 feet 1 inch high ; dressed in old black coat and trousers, and hard felt hat; has a club foot ( believed right). They are till about 18 or 20 years of age, and were seen near the house. Information to Mr. Supt. Webster, Kent Con- stabulary, Dartford.— Bow- street, November 11. Wanted, at Dudley, for burglariously breaking into a dwelling- house and stealing a pair of man's lace- up Boots, nearly new ; a blue cloth Overcoat, part worn ; and 2s. in Money :— CHAS. THOMAS, 28 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes, proportionate build, oval face, large scar left breast, cross, flags and crown, ' C. K', crown and Staffordshire knot on right arm, ' J. H. P. J.' left lower arm, ' S. H.' and other marks on light lower arm, and scar left side of forehead ; a blacksmith, and native of Birmingham, where he has been several times con- victed in the name of KEIGHT and KITE. Wanted on a charge of stealing a Horse, at Sandon, on 26th ultimo ( since recovered) :— a man, 19 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, light complexion, light brown hair, slender build, oval face, supposed slightly infected with skin disease, no whiskers or moustache ; dressed ia a brown ducket jackat, velveteen vest, corduroy trousers, red necktie, and lace- up boots. Supposed to be a farm labourer. In- formation to Mr. Supt. Crisp, Police Office, Stone, Stafford- shire.— Bow street, November 14. Stolen on 11th instant, from a field at Cranham, near Brentwood, Essex:— a light bay cart Colt, 3 years old, 15 hands high, short legs, long mane and tail, thickset. By WILLIAM DAVIS and WILLIAM HARMAN who are in custody for stealing it. It was seen going in the direction of London. Information to Mr. Supt. Dobson, Brentwood, Essex.— Brno- street, November 14. Left at the Four Ashes Inn, Takely, Essex, at 1 p. m. on 9th instant, ( supposed stolen):— a dark brown Mare, aged, 15i hands high, white star on forehead, saddle marks on withers, scar on off fore knee, and switch tail, was worn out, having been ridden a long distance. By a man 35 years of e, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fair complexion, small sandy whiskers, and moustache, shaved under the chin ; dressed in. a light suit, with breeches and buskins, also wore a black high crowned hard felt hat. Description of JAMES PIKE, late of Caversham, Oxon, charged on warrant with obtaining three Heifers, by false pretences, < it Newbury Market, on 20th ultimo : - 35 or 30 years of 5 feet inches high, rather stout, black whis kers and beard, no moustache, dark hair, red face, walks with a short quick step ; well known at the principal race meetings, where he usually has a booth aud stand attached ; dressed in light suit of Clothes, light macintosh, and hard felt hat. Charged with stealing a quantity of Liquors ( recovered), at Chelmsford, on 28th ultimo :— JOSEPH OWERS, late of Springfield, Chelmsford, labourer, 45 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair, whiskers and moustache, stout build ; dressed when last seen in black cloth monkey jacket, with white slop underneath, white cord or fustian trousers, white hard felt hat, and heavy lace- up boots. Well known at Aruqdel'Street, Waterloo- town, Bethnal- green, and at Brick- lane Goods Station. Has a brother named John Owers at Stratford Gas Works; also 2 POLICE GAZETTE. November 16 a brother at St. Leonards, near Hastings. Information to Mr. Supt. Lennon, Constabulary Office, Chelmsford, Essex, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 16. Charged on 9 warrant with larceny at Burton- on- Trent, on 3rd instant :— THOMAS BROWN, a moulder, 38 years of age, 5 feet 7i inches high, fair complexion, sandy hair, medium build, heavy beard and moustache, no whiskers ; dressed in a dark coat and vest, dirty moleskin trousers, and old hard felt hat. Information to Mr. Supt. Harston, Burton- on- Trent, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, November 14. Stolen on 10th instant, from a cottage at Aston, near Wellington, Salop :— a pair of cotton cord Tiousers, lined with calico, white bone buttons, have been lengthened at bottom about 6 inches with a piece of same material. By a tramp, about 28 years of age. about 5 feet 6 inches high, small sandy whiskers and moustache ; dressed in round hard felt hat, grey jacket and waistcoat, and stolen trousers. Description of JOSEPH KIRSUP, alias YOUNG, waated at Dipton, Durham, charged on warrant with larceny : — 29 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, fair complexion, much freckled, blue eyes, light hair, proportionate build, walks very erect, has an abscess under one of his arms ; has been a soldier, has an unhealthy appearance ; dressed in blue coat and vest, dark cloth trousers, hard felt hat, and lace- up boots. Carries a large bag with his clothing in it, very fond of low company, and may be found in a brotv. el; a native jof Durham. Information to Mr. Supt. Farther information respecting ALFRED DOUGHTY, advertised in the Police Gazette of 7th ultimo, charged with • stealing £ 6 15s. at Skegness :— He was seen at a horse auction sale at Peterborough on 2nd instant, he was then wearing a pair of old light cloth trousers and very bad boots, he looked very dirty and appeared to be on tramp. Absconded at 1 p. m., 28th ultimo, charged by warrant Vit%. stealing £ 124, consisting of five £ 100 Bank of England • niftes, numbered respectively 43 | E 52,303, 43 | E. 47,917, | E 47,537, 47,624, 47,583, all marked Manchester, 12th Jan., 1880 ; a £ 20 do., No. 76,891, Liverpool, 8th March, 1880; a £ 10 do., No. 01,710, Liverpool, 21st March, 1881; and the remainder in Bank of England Notes and Gold:— HENRY CHARLES NEWTON, a book- keeper, native of Leeds, 20 years of age, looks older, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, fair complexion, oval features, thick neck, dark thick hair brushed up in front and grows down neck, small side whiskers and small moustache much lighter than hair, small pimples under chin and on neck ; dressed in a grey overcoat, dark mixture sacque jacket, vest and trousers, and round stiff black hat. Will endeavour to go abroad. £ 20 reward will be paid by Newton's late employer for the arrest of Newton and recovery of the money, or in proportion to the amount recovered. Absconded from Stourbridge on 11th ultimo, charged with embezzlement:— JOSEPH CARTWRIGHT a ginger beer bottler, 25 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, pale complexion, dark brown curly hair, slight whiskers and moustache, slender build, right hip grown out, and walks Very lame. Fond of singing in low public- houses. Informa- tion to Mr. Supt Wheeler, Police Office, Stourbridge, Wor- ' cestersliiie, who holds a warrant for his apprehension,— Bov>- * treet, November 14. Charged with stealing, on 1st instant, M yds. of Brussels Carpet, a portion of which has been recovered:— ALEX- ANDER SULLIVAN, about 5 feet 9 inches high, rather dark complexion, dark whiskers and moustache, medium build ; dressed in black worsted dress coat, brown trousers, and hard black billycock hat; he has worked as an uphol- sterer in Manchester, Liverpool, Chester, and other large towns, where he is well known in the trade. Information to Chief Constable Holgate, Bolton.— Bow- street, November 14. Stolen at Old Trafford, about 3 p. m. 11th instant :— a pair of girls low leg button kid Boots, size 9, nearly new ; a, pair of girls high leg button Boots, size 12 or 13, nearly new ; a pair of gent's elastic- side Boots, with kid leg leather fronts and toecaps; a pair lady's high leg morocco Boots, buttoned, some of the buttons are lost, far worn. By a woman, about 20 or 23 years of age, 5 feet high, fresh com- plexion, brown hair; dressed in brown winsey dress, holland apron, white stockings, and clogs. Stolen at Castleford, between 1 and 8 a. m. on 13th inst.: •— 3 black cloth Frock Coats, silk covered buttons, pockets in skirts behind and one in breast; 1 black cloth Walking ditto, silk covered buttons, pockets in skirts behind and one in left breast; 1 black cloth Shooting ditto, outside pocket in each lap and one in breast, and silk'buttons; 1 pair light- coloured elo+ h Trousers, with stripes ( the above are all second- hand); 4 new black and white plaid cloth Vests, bone buttons, three pockets outside; I black cloth ditto, silk buttons, and three pockets outside. By a man, who lodged in the house two nights, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, light com- plexion, dark eyes, light hair, large moustache, medium build j dressed in moleskin trousers, flat top cap, a lace- up boots, will be wearing part of stolen property, as fce left his own coat and vest in the house. Stolen in Church Lane, Prestwich, between 10 a. m. and 12 noon, on 11th instant:— a gent's black ribbed worsted cloth Overcoat, 4 pockets outside, buttons of same material as coat, dark cotton lining, stitched with yellow twist silk, has a small slit behind. Suspicion attached to a man about 26 years of age, with whiskers; wore a pair of light blue trousers, and hard billycock hat. Wanted on a charge of stealing Wearing Apparel:— a boy, 14 years of age, very dark complexion ; dressed in old dirty black cloth suit. Wanted for stealing a Shawl:— a woman, about 35 years of age, 4 feet 9 inches high, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, blue eyes, small cut mark over right eye; dressed in dirty black clothes. Information at County Police Office, Old Trafford; Manchester. — Bow- street, November 14- Absoonded from Halesowen, on 11th instant, charged on a warrant with stealing a lady's gold Geneva Watch, No, 12,672 :— JEM DILLON, about 20 years of age, 5 feet ( j ii\ ch « s liigb, slender build, pale complexion, dark brown hair, parted down centre, no hair on face ; dressed in a dark cloth overcoat, vest and trousers, black soft billycock hat. Is an Irish comedian, and has been in the habit of singing in music halls. A native of Glasgow, to which place he is sup- posed to have gone, or to Belfast. Information to Mr. Supt. Hardman, Oldbury, or to Sergeant Raybould, Halesowen, Worcestershire, who holds the warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- street, November 14.
