POLICE CONTAINING tTlu substamt of all Informations received in eases of Felony and of Misdemeanors of cm aggravated nature, and against Receivers of Stolen Goods, reputed Thieves, and Offenders escaped from Custody, with the time, the place, and the circumstance of the Offence. The Names of Persons charged with Offences who are known but not in custody, and a Description of those who are not knovm, their Appearance, Dress, and other marks of Identity. Th Names of Accomplices and Accessories, with every particular which may lead to their Apprehension. A Description, as accurate as passible, of Property that has been stolen, and a minute Description of Stolen Horses for the purpose of tracing and recovering them. No. 6629 MONDAY, JUNE 27, 1881. Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolon property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or seniing the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may bo mado and addressed to the Editor, Polico Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and Uie Hams is given, it is indispensably necessary that an information should ha made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attest Sd copy thereof, together with the advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all tetters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names stid Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and • f Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, > '. above, for insertion in the TOLICE GAZETTE. Advertisements offering reward1) must state clearly:—( 1) The amount of the reward. ( 2) The conditions on which it is payable. ( 3). The person by whom it will be paid. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Early on the morning of 21st instant, the naked dead body of a female child, apparently between two and four months old, - was found in the six foot way, on the Main Line of the Caledonian Railway, about a mile north from Perth. The Medical Examination showed that the child had been murdered before being laid or dropped ou the line. Infor- mation to Chief Constable Dodd, Perthshire.— Bow- street, June 27. FORGERY, Absconded, charged with forgery :— PERCY ENNING- TON, a clerk, 16 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, slim build, fair completion, light brown hair, blue eyes, prominent forehead, and thin face; dressed in grey jacket and vest, brown trousers, while shirt, blue tie, lace boots, and black felt hat. Likely to be found in tramps' lodging- houses. Warrant issued. Information to the Director of Criminal Investi- gations, Great Scotland Yard, B. W.— Metropilitan Police, une 24. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person at Burslem, on 25th instant a silver lever Watch, No. 24605, ' E. Sherratt, Burslem, engraved on plate ; a siver lever Watch, smooth back, capped and jewelled, No. 3324, much worn • a silver lever watch, loose steel fingers. Information to Mr, Chief Supt. Stolen from the person, at Bromsgrove Fair, on 24th instant:— a silver lever Watch, large size, opcn- face, maker Allport, Birmingham, very old, No. 1581; a gold lever white face, chased back, two slight dents on inntr case; a gold Watch, very thin silver dial, small dent on back of case. Stolen from the person at Beverley Races, on 25th inst. : — a silver Lever Watch, No. 68740, white dial. By JOHN JACKSON, 40 year? of age, 6 feet 7J inches high, rather thin build, fair complexion, light eyes, brown whiskers on side of face, rather bushy, shaved upper lip and chin j wears a white apron. Says he is a printer, and that ho is well known at York. Information to Mr, Supt. Knight, Guildhall, Beverley, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, Jan 27, Stolen from the person, between Piccadilly, Manchester, and Belle Vue Gardens, between 4p. m. and 5p. m 19th instant:-— a gentleman's gold keyless hunting Watch, maker's name Waltham, steel hands and seconds finger, had the following inscription inside of case presented to Mr. James Dyson, by the members of Ward Liberal Club, BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen by means of housebreaking, on 16th instant, at Groton :— One Half- Sovereign, and 25a. 4d. all in Coppers; red silk pocket Handkerchief ; and a red cotton Do. By two men, one about 28 or 30 years of age, about 6 feet 10 or 11 inches high, light complexion, moustache, no whiskers, tattooed on back of one or both hands, stout build, and very much sunburnt ; dressed in white blouse jacket, fustian trousers and vest without sleeves, dark cloth cap with leather peak, and knot on the top, and heavy nailed boots. The other about 30 to 32 years of age, about 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark brown hair, no whiskers or moustaohe, swarthy com- plexion, 2 or 3 front upper teeth out, stout build, and very ) road shoulders ; dressed in old dark coat, fustian trousers and vest, without sleeves, white guernsey laid open in front, no shirt on, blue handkerchief with white spots round his neck, dark cloth cap with leather peak, and knot on the top, and heavy nailed boots ; belongs to Shelford, Cambridgeshire. They were seen carrying their jacket or coat loosely round them, nuvvy fashion ; are likely to seek employment at docks as well as on the railways. Information to Mr. Supt. Stolen by means of housebreaking, between 10 a m, 23rd, and C' 30 p. m., 24th instant:— a lady's silver lever Watch, Grimshaw and Sons, London,' No. 6774, engine- turned case, silver coloured dial, steel seconds hands ; had attached a long thin silver Guard, curb pattern, with old fashioned screw swivel; a long hair Guard, with gold mountings; a gold Ring, with sea!, raocogram 1A G.' or ' L. T.' engraved on it; a small gold pencil case, with ring to attache to a guard ; a small round gold Locket with glass at end ; a pair of gold rimmed spectacles. During the night of 19th instant, Stoke- on- Tern Pariah Church, Salop, was entered, and an iron safe, about 3 cwt., containing all Parish Registers and Documents, s brass Cross, about 6 inches high ou four legs and little round balls for feet, a brass alms Plate about a foot in diameter, were stolen from the vestry therein. The safe and part of registers and documents have been recovered, much damaged, the other things are still missing. Information to Mr. Supt. The Church at Cley, was on the night of' 5th instant, broken into, and the bifertor/ box broken open and contents stolen. Supposed by a tramp seen on the spot the same night, between 40 and 50 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches' high ; dressed in beaverteen jacket and trousers, red necker- chief and cap with peak, lost part of thumb from right hand, which he said was lost when engaged in the whale fishing. He said he was a native of Whissonsett, in Norfolk, but had been nway many years, gave the name of CANTON, alias. NILAND, talked about fishing, also bricklaying & c., frequents common lodging- houses. Information to Inspector Hobbs, Holt, Norfolk.— Bow street, June 20. Stolen by means of burglary, from Stechford Hall, near Birmingham, during the night of 10th instant:— a Centre Piece, with square silver Stand 9 inches long, surmounted by a bronze elephant with ivory tusks, carrying a silver castle ; a silver Tea Pot, chased ; a do. Waiter, 20 inches diameter ; 6 do. Tea Spoons; a do. Knife, Fork and Spoon ; a do. Toast Rack ; a do, Indian Medal, ' Davidson'; 2i doz. electro- plated Dessert Spoons; |- doz. do. Stolen from Hertford, on 21th instant;— a bay mare Pony, 4 years old, about 14 hands high, lias a hole in the right cheek, and a long tail. Stolen during the night of 25th instant, from a field at Teddington, near Thame, Oxon :— a light brown cob Horse, 8 years old, about 14 hands high, with black mane and tail, in good condition. £ 5 reward will be given on recovery of the Horse and apprehension of the offenders. Stolen from a field at Sheepshed, Leicester, during the night of 20th inst.:— a bay nag Mare, 14 hands high, 6 years old, white star on forehead, switch tail, two chips on near Bide, two or three white spots on off side of back, splint on off fore leg below the knee, and in good condition. Supposed by a man, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, very dark complexion, and of medium build ; drdssed in dark clothing and hard hat. The Man described in the Police Gazette of 22nd instant as wanted for the robbery from Claughtan House, Romford, Essex, has been apprehended.— Bw- ttreet, June 27. Stolen at the Bell Hotel, Week- street, on 20th instant: — a black ribbed tail Coat ( recovered); a tobacco Pouch; and a pair of light brown kid Gloves. By a man, about 30 years of age, slight moustache and whiskers; dressel in pea jacket; supposed to be visiting hotels for the purpose of committing felony. Charged with stealing a pair silver Spectacles, recovered, from Meppershall Hoo :— a tramp, from 40 to 45 years of age, about 6 fret high, stout in proportion, dark hair and • whiskers, no moustache, very thick lips; dressed in dark clothes, very shabby, old boots, cut on toes. Stolen from the Lord Nelson Inn, Southwold, on 24th instant:- a black leather Purse, steel rim and snap, con- taining a Cheque on Gurney's Bank, Halesworth, for £ i 5s., dated June 18ih drawn by 0. Coates, in favour of Adnams and Sargent, ai d backed Adnams and Sargent; and £ 1 in Gold, Supposed by a man about 35 years of age, short, dark hair aud whiskers, no moustache, supposed false teeth; dressed in low bla. fk felt, hat, and dark clothes ; can be identified. JOHN DAY, about 55 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 0 inches high, dark complexion, weak eyes; dressed in dark trousers, brown check waistcoat, and dark cap; is a labourer, and likely to seek employment at market gardeners; aud has his boy with him about 9 years of age; dressed in dark clothes, very dirty aud ragged. Webster, Kent Constabulary, Dartford.— Bow- itreet, June 24. stand up ; two blue Neckties, one with flower in centre, and one with a silver pin in it; a red smoking Cap, with beads round band, and a kiud of a star in front; a silver Geneva Watch, No. either 1111678 or 111678, with gold Chain, 9 carat, attached, large links; two gold Lockets, one has two stoues, aud a youtm lady's Photo in it; also a gold Seal, 18 carat. By JAMES ASHTON, about 27 years of age, about 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, has a cut mark ou throat, grey eyes, dark hair, whiskers, aud mous- tache, clean shaved on chin, proportionate figure, late of East Griustead, tramping tailor ; dressed in dark thick tweed suit, high- low Boots, and black ljw- crowued bowler hat. Absconded on 16th instant, charged on a warrant with embezzlement:— FREDERICK MOEITZ MOSER, a barrister's clerk, 24 years of age, 5 feet 8 iucjea high, pale complexion, light brown hair, and very small moustache; dressed iu light suit, and high hat. Information to the Inspector on duty. Police Station, Bridewell- place, City, London, E. C.— Bow street, June 22. Charged with stealing at Gladestry, on 4th September last:— a silver English lever Watch, No. 1577.{ second hand on dial, ' J. V.' engraved on inside case, main spring supposed broken ; a siOt Albert Chain, with Key in shape of a pistol attached ; a steel Albert Chain ; a pair of man'B Boots ; three check Shirts; and 2 pairs of woollen Stockings; the boots. 2 shirts and pair of stockings recovered, sold-.— WILLIAM BOLTER, 50 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, cross eyes, near sighted, small grey whiskers, light brown ( or grey) hair, fresh complexion, very talkative, has been in Hereford- shire Militia, is a notorious poacher, large nose, thumb of one hand crippled, supposed left hand; dressed in a dark pilot jacket, hard hat, and lace- up boots; has worked in Merthyr Tydvill, Mountain Ash, Dowlais, Hereford, Brecon, and Birmingham. Absconded on 11th instant, charged on a warrant with stealing a Cash Box, containing ,£ 28 in cash, several Bills, and £ 7 in perforated postage Stamps: - ROBT. CRUIKSHANK, 45 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark complexion, whiskers, aud moustache turning grey, rather sharp features, flushed face, and scar on fork of right hand ; dressed in dark clothes. Charged on a warrant at Weymouth, with stealing a quantity of Books : — HENRY C. FULFORD, alias FOULFIRD, 36 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, very slight built, pale, sunburnt complexion, high cheek bone?, browu curly hair, slight whiskers and moustache, full grey eyes, rather blood shot, a native of Wales, has relations living iu Wilts and Devon ; a teacher of languages, states that he is M. A. of Oxon; dressed in ligkt brown coat, light vest, dark trousers, light grey bowler hat, had a dark ulster, and black frock coat with him; he took ticket on 11th ultimo, for Barnstaple, Devon. Charged on a warrant with obtaining, by false pretences, 100 Share Certificates, value .£ 238:- NORMAN MACLEOD, 28 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, fair com- plexion, brown hair and moustache, very smart, gentlemanly appearance ; dressed in dark suit, and high black hat; stays at first- class hotels, and frequents billiard- rooms and race meetings. C.. — Bow- street, June 24. • Absconded, charged with intent to ravish, at Northiam, on 11th iustant ;— a man, about 21 years of » ge, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fair complexion, slight moustache, light brown hair, stout figure, residence late of Northiam, single, a brick- layer's labourer, rofy pass as a bricklayer ; dressed in light jacket, cord trousers, and soft hat. Information to Mr. Supt. Baldwin, Guestling, Hastings, or to Sergeant Tobutt, Beckley, East Sussex, who holds the warrant.— Bow- street, June 22.
