INFORMATIONS Stolen during the night of 25th instant, by means of breaking and entering the Woodchester Saw Mills : £ 1 8s. 9d. in Cash ; 10s. worth of postage and receipt Stamps ; a canvas cash Bag, with.' Henry Workman, 1878 ' stamped on it; a hair Brush, rather large, flat rosewood back ; a clothes Brush, black bristles round side, white bristles in centre, rose- wood back ; a small hand looking Glass ; a black cloth Coat, cloth buttons, buttons on behind, pockets behind, and pocket on breast; about 1 lb. of Osborn Biscuits. Information to Mr. Superintendent Philpott, Stroud, Gloucestershire.— Boio- street, September 29. Stolen by means of housebreaking, about 7 p, m. on 26th instant, at Kingston : a silver Geneva lever Watch, has a scratch on the face, and a piece of red silk whip Cjrd instead of a guard ; also a light grey cloth Overcoat, rather'short, and called by stablemen a cover coat, double- breasted, has two rows of light bone buttons down the front, the lining torn inside the left arm. Supposed by a man, about 50 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, rather thin; he is a stableman; dressed iu dark clothes, hard felt Muller hat, wears a coloured neckerchief, tied twice round his neck. Charged on warrant with unlawfully assaulting and causing bodily harm to Thomas Tanner, at Horsted Keynes, on - 28th ultimo : PINCHER FOSTER, from 20 to 35 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, • broad face, rather pug nose, dark hair, with whiskers shaved off, stout made, and - « hort neck ; late of Weathoathly, a hut keeper on the Lewes and East Grinsted new Railway; dressed in tweed cloth jacket, cord waistcoat, moleskin trousers, and reab when walking. GALE, alias SLENDERMAN, 23 or 24 years of age, about 5 feet 11 inches high, fresh complexion, light hair and whiskers, rather slight made, late of East Grinstead ; dressed in moleskin trousers, waistcoat, and jacket, and walks . quick. LOOKS, 24 or 25 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, large face, light brown hair, stout mad.', late of Westhoathly ; dressed in moleskin trousers, white slop, and billycock hat. They have been working on the new railway from Lewes to East Grinstead, bufc have absconded. Stolen from the person at Stoke- on- Trent, on 27th inst.: an English silver lever Watch, maker Wright, Coventry, No. 17164. Between 7' 30 a. m. and 7 p. m. on 25th ultimo, the house of Daniel Nield, ot Warren Mountain, Hawarden, was broken into, and stolen therefrom : a pair of lady's elastic- side Boots ; a pair of men's lace- up Watertiglits ; a black aud v lute plaid Shirt; a woman's dark brown cloth Jacket, lined with black silk in frout; a grey cloth Vest, with brown buttons Supposed by tramps. Stolen on 26th instant, by means of housebreaking, at Hazleridge School, near Chatton: a silver lever Watch. No. 11573 ; a bottle of Whisky ; and a piece of Cheese By a tramp, about 25 or 26 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches bigh, stout build, fair complexion, full face, light hair cut short, little or no whiskers, round shouldered, leans for- ward when walking, and speaks the South Country dialect. dressed in a grey coat and vest, dark cloth trousers, and dark quilted cap, with small turned up brim, aud blue tie. Further information respecting the housebreaking at Cradley, on 18th ultimo, and advertised in the Police Gazette of 22nd ultimo, and following dates. The woman's stays are found, not stolen. Suspicion is attached to a man seen walking fast from the direction of the cottage on the day o' ilie robbery, about, 30 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark hair aud sunburnt face ; dressed in old dark green cord trousers, dark vent, and old boots, roughly mended about, the heels. He was . arrying a bundle on a stick over his shoulder, and a dark coat thrown over the bundle. Information to Mr Superintendent Ovens, Herefordshire Constabulary, Brom- yard, or" to Sergeant Smith, Police Station, Cradley, near Malvern.— B> v- street, October 1. The man described in the Po'ice Gazette of 10th instant, charged with housebreaking at Rose Villa, near Easingwold, on 2nd instant, has been apprehended and committed for trial ; he gives the name of JAMES WATKINS, and was sentenced in the name of JAMES MUNROE, at Northaller- ton Quarter Sessions, on July lst, 1873, to 6 months for housebreaking; also on 28th June, 187G, to 9 months for housebreaking at Hartoft; and 9 months and 5 years police supervision for housebreaking at Allerston. Information to Mr. Superintendent Hunter, Heworth, or to Inspector Ellerby, Police Office, Easingwold, N. R. Yorks.— Bow- street, Sept. 29. Stolen from a draper's shop in Berwick- upon- Tweed, during the night of 20th instant, by means of shopbreaking : six pebble Brooches, set in silver, three of them round in shape, the others may be oval shaped ; a silver Brooch, round shaped, with bird engraved in centre ; a silver aud pebble mounted shawl Pin, shape of a sword ; two silver Lockets; a pair of silver Ear- rings; a pair of tortoise shell Ear- rings; eight dozen packets of Needles of superior quality, made by James Smith & Sons, Redditch ; two pairs uf ladies' grey angola Stockings ; a pair ditto crimson ditto ; two tweed shooting Hats, dark colour, lined with sateen cloth, air hole at centre of top with brass inside ; and between £ 4 and £ 5 in Silver and Copper, principally in small change. Particular attention to be given to pedlars, who are suspected. £ 2 2s. reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the guilty parties. During the night of 21st instant, a farm- house, at Crambe, was broken and entered and stolen therein • 4 silver Table- spoons, 9 do. Tea- spoons, 6 electro- plated Tea- spoons, and 2 pairs of silver Sugar Tongs— one pair engraved and the other plain : all marked ' 11.1V, except two Table- spoons, marked ' E. R.' Information to Mr. Superintendent Hunter, North Riding Constabulary Office, Heworth, York.— Bow- street, September 26. Further information respecting CHAS. DICKINSON, of Starbeck, painter, wauted at Knares'orough, on a charge of housebreaking, and advertised iu the Police - Gazette on 17th instant : he was at Retford on 16th, ana at Peterbrough on 19th instant,, where it . is supposed he was joined, by Lis wife and 2 children, a boy between 3 and 4 years of age, and a girl about 12 months old. It is earnestly requested that police officers will use every endeavour to apprehend him. Information to Mr. Superintendent Carr, Knaresbrough, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, September 26. Stolen from a field at Halesowen, during the night of 23rd instant : a black cart Mare, has- a small white star on forehead; small beard on nose, some hair rubbed off right hip and top of neck. Stolen during the night of 23rd; instant, from a field at Edgebold, Salop ; two Horses, recovered, by a'man about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark hair, whiskers, ' and moustache ; dressed in dark jacket and vebt, light tron - sers, brown leather leggings, and soft billycock hat; b as. the appearance of a farm labourer. Ky profession a jockey and stableman, is supposed to have been previously- convicted. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING Absconded on 23rd ultimo, charged on warrant with stealing Sheep : HENRY BOULTWOOD, of Wormley West find, a ticket- of- leave man, 29 years of age, 5 feet inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, two moles on right cheek ; dressed in blue pilot jacket, cord trousers, soft billycock hat, and lace- up boots. Stolen at Hednesford, between 27th and 29th ultimo : 3 Lambs, of the Shropshire breed, each has the letter ' G ' in pitch on the left side, and' in good condition. Information to Charged under a warrant with having on 11th instant, stolen as bailee, an old light- coloured horse Donkey, aud a spring donkey Cart, which he offered for sale for £ 5 at Shepton Montague : JOSEPH REAKES, a carpenter, but sometimes works as a labourer, about 38 years of age, about 5 feet ± 0 inches high, dark brown hair, moustache may be shaved off, no whiskers ; dressed in dark cloth jacket, cord trousers, and was wearing a straw or rush hat, with wide brim. Very eccentric in mauner, and is known in many places by the name of ' Cuckoo,' from his habit of repeating that word, he carries a snuff box, and has with him generally a flask basket and saw. Stolen on 29th ultimo, at Worcester : a red carpet Bag, with yellow stripes, and cord handles, - containing a pair ol black' cloth Trousers; a pair of grey ditto ; a black Vest; two black cloth ribbed ditto, with double breasts ; a pair of elastic- side Boots ; two pairs of Stockings ; a white ditto ; a pair of blue ditto ; a white linen Shirt; a white flannel under Shirt; a silver pocket Flask.; a red Cigar- case ; a white- handled pocket Knife, with two blades and name plate ; a pair of Mittens, with thumb hole ; and four black Neckties. By a baker, 27 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, dark brown hair, grey eyes, dark moustache, no whiskers, dark complexion, scar above right eyebrow, two ditto ou left side of forehead, cut on back of head, scar on right wrist, cut on second finger right hand, two rings on the third finger left hand, crucifix and flags, crown and flowers on right arm, tombstone, ship, and a woman ou a ball on left arm ; he is a native of Oldswinford or Kingswinford, near Stourbridge. Desciiption of CHARLES JUDGE, alias CHARLES CHURCH, charged with larceny, on 30th ultimo, at Milton, near Northampton : he is about 26 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, fresh complexion, little or no whiskers or mous- tache, grey eyes ; dressed in old dark cloth frock coat, black cord trousers, plaid cotton shirt, billy hat, and wears clogs ; he has been frequently seen near St. Pancras Station. Infor- mation to Inspector Hensher, Northampton, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 3. Stolen at Rhyl, on the evening of 29th ultimo : a black serge frock Coat, man's size, bound with black silk ; a pair o> brown and white mixture tweed Trousers and Vest, man's size ; a lady's long black silk Jacket, trimmed with bows, and black fringe ; a 5s. By a man, about 35 years of age, fair complexion, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, slender build, light whiskers and moustache, broken nose, speaks through his nose ; dressed in a light tweed suit, white straw hat, with black band, and wore a pair of boots with blue cloth uppers. By a man about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, light brown or ginger hair, whiskers about a fortnight's growth, a tramping harvester ; dressed in blue coat, cord trousers, dark cap, turned up at sides, and stolen boots. Information to Mr. Superintendent Park, Malton, or to Inspector Milner, North Riding Constabulary, Kirby Moorside.— Bow- street, October 1. Description of ALFRED R. MANNERS, a clerk, charged on warrant with embezzlement, who failed to sus- render to his bail at the Town Hall, Shaftesbury, Dorset, on 30th ult.:— he is about 28 years of age, 5 f jet high, medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair parted in middle, small moustache, little whiskers on upper part of face, lower part recently shaved; dressed in a black ribbed cloth suit, side- spring boots, small low black felt rouud hat, marked inside crown ' Best Quality.' Four Prize Medals, Vienna 1873, Paris 1857'; had with him a small black portmanteau, con- taining black ribbed cloth frock coat and waistcoat, brown trousers, and white shirt; carried a brown cloth overcoat on his arm. He formerly carried on a grocery business at Devonshire House, Forest- hill; stated his father lived at No. 2, Highbury New- park, London, but supposed now to be living at No. 3, The Terrace, Peckham- rye ; also supposed to have relations living at No. 14, Sayford- road, The Gardens, Peckham. He took a ticket for Waterloo Station ou 27th ult.; is a betting man, aud well known at all betting clubs iu London. Information to Mr. Superintendent Pitfield, Shaftes- bury, Dorsei.— Bow- street, October 1. . Stolen from a bed- room in a refreshment house in Wigan : a lady's gold lever Watch, No. 2934, maker J. Harris, Wolverhaui, ton, white dial, had attached a long gold Chain, wit h gold Locket, containing the photo of a lady and gentleman, also 1 American Cent; a lady's gold Geneva Watch, far • worn, gold dial, his a scratch about ^- incli long on dial, plain cases, had a'. ta a. ed a small gold Albert Chain, the swivel and cross bar are made of brass. By a man who lodged in the house on » night, said his name was JOHN THOMPSON, about 36 yei. r. 1 of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, d . rk com- plexion, hair, and small moustache, shaved under chin, but supposed small side whiskers, supposed to be a foreigner as he spoke with a foreign accent, and could read French ; dressed in a dark grey mixture double- breasted shooting coat, veiy much cut away in front, trousers aud vest, a similar material, black billycock hat, which he wore on one side of head, elastic- side boots, violet and white woollen shirt, wore a small gold ling with small blue stone in centre, also wore a gold Albert Said be was an interpreter of languages, and was employed by the railway company to travel between Liverpool and Wigau, and that he resided at Manchester for 6 years. £ 3 reward Iufoimation to Chief Constable Alison, Wigan, Lancashire.— Bow- street, Ocober 1. Description of HUBERT JOHN SCOTT, an assistant surgeon, aud who absconded in June last, charged on warrant with having embezzled £ 1 5s. : he is about 25 years of a^ e, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fresh complexion, long featured, brown eyes and dark brown hair, thin on top of head, and parted iu centre, small brown whiskers and moustache, lower jaw sightly projecting, slight scar on outer angle of left eye, ami also across bridge of nose, slightly rounded shoulders, incliued to stoop, and turns his feet out when walk- ing, and proportionate figure , is a native of Hampstead, near London, where iH parents now reside at No. 16, Church row He was also in the employ of Or. W. Bowen, Esq , Mether- ingham, Lincolnshire, as assistant surgeon, a year or twj ago. Information to Deputy Chief Constable Cope, Nantwich, Cheshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension, and who will send photo if applied for.— Bow- street, September 29. Stolen at Sittingbourne Post Office, between 11.30 p. m. on 24th and 4 30 a. m. on 25th insta t : £ 157 in Gold, £ 6 in Silver, £ 10 w « rth of Postage Stamps, and £ 5 worth of Half- penny Stamps. Information to Mr. Superintendent Mayne, Police Court, Sitting bourne.— Bow- street, September 29. Charged with embezzlement: MICHAEL RYAN, 24 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, round features, fairish com- plexion, slight light moustache, and small ligbt whiskers ; dressed in daik clothes and low felt hat ; is ai& Irishman, and speaks with an Irish accent. Information to Cnief Inspector ttobinson, Police Office, Birmingham.— Bma- street, Sept. 29.
